They view themselves as exempt from the same sacrifices because their lifestyles are necessary to fight against the monster of climate change. They can’t fight climate change if they can’t fly around in gas guzzling jet planes and they do so much good in the world that a little bit of indulgence isn’t a bad thing so they are justified in buying a yacht. Or so it seems in their minds.
It’s a detachment from the reality of how most people live. If you ban coal/natural gas, most people in Africa / India aren’t going to say “Well I guess I die now” they are going to say “I am cold. I need to cook some food. Oh look there are trees over there I can cut down and burn” and burning trees releases far more crud into the air.
It’s the same thing with solar panels. When you make booku bucks crying on a podium it doesn’t seem like a big deal having to pay slightly more to keep the lights on. But if you are a truck driver hauling a** 14 hours a day, trying to afford his insulin injections while covering a mortgage, it’s going to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
There are three aspects of it. There is the historical records, the current day measurements, and the future predictions. Current day measurements measure the temperature, wind speed/direction, etc, with high precision as it is at that location on that day / time. However, there are nowhere near enough data points to project into the future. The systems are too volatile, change too quickly, and the data isn’t accurate enough to know what is going to happen next. Even if you could measure the state of the ocean at an accuracy of 1 micrometer, aka 0.000001 meters, you would still have a 1000 meter error after 3 days. That means a particle of water somewhere in the simulation will be 1000 meters away from where it really is after 3 days.
By the way, there isn’t a computer in existence that could even store the data at that resolution, let alone actually run the simulations. There would be 1000000000000000000 data points per cubic meter of ocean. Each one would need temperature, pressure and velocity measurements. Each one would need to be stored in AT LEAST 128 bit precision. There are 3 xyz elements to position/velocity and 1 element to the temperature and 1 for pressure, meaning there would be 1024000000000000000000 bits aka 128000000 terabytes of data. That’s for 1 cubic meter of ocean. The ocean has approximately 1400000000000000000 cubic meters of water. That’s 28672000000000000000000000000000000000 terabytes of data.
That’s just for STORING the data required to make accurate predictions 3 days in advance not to mention how on Earth you are supposed to collect that much data or how you are supposed to analyze it. It’s important to note that this is THE STRONGEST FORM OF CLIMATE CHANGE ARGUMENT IN EXISTENCE. The historical data is even lower resolution and lower accuracy than this by many orders of magnitude.
They send up a few hundred weather balloons that don’t even have a fixed position for Pete’s sake and think they can predict the weather a hundred years in advance. These people are either knuckle dragging retards or liars. There is no in-between.

They’ve all seen the one where I beat puck with mass ultralisks for example. I do share a lot of the stranger wins which are fun because they are, you know, different. They call those “cheese”. They have, however, seen plenty of macro games as well.
There was one I beat Kiwian (a code s player) with a 3 hatch build, supernova with a single fungal. They’ve seen one where I’ve beaten Dark with mass ling style ZvZ macro. I shared one where I beat Snute with 2 base hydra which went into a macro game that I won. The list goes on and on.
