After reading the comments on here about these crashes possibly hitting you with a virus, I did a scan on my computer. I use McAfee and it didn’t turn anything up. Would appreciate if someone who knows more about this could link on here what this potential virus threat is.
This worked for me, but there are not many people online so it takes a while got Direct Strike or Squad TD to start up

Im looking at the same issue, I have games with a frozen load icon. I’ve restarted 3 times and the same thing happens only when clicking on Custom. Please assist as this has been the second time its happened as of late and Fortnite wins the game choice.
confirmed. experiencing the same as last time. However, its easy to close the game with task manager so long as youve set task manager to “always on top”
would be nice if blizzard could plug this hole… Game is unplayable.

same issue. i used windows key to get to the sign out, and starcraft was closed. This saved me from hard reset of the system.
same as everyone else. it was so random. I played last night, and everything was ok. Start up the pc this morning and all it does is freeze. crazy how stuff breaks overnight and not in use. please fix…
Moved to the European server. Everything now works.
Same for me. Moved to European server, but far less maps being hosted that I like, I guess NA servers are just useless now for custom?
Switching to Europe didn’t fix it for me, same problem.
As dumb as this sounds, this is the culmination of a 7 years long pissing contest between the map author and a group of trolls who play the custom map PARASITE.
I am experiencing the same problem. It locks up my whole computer and I have to reboot. The screen is frozen other than the mouse.
Just switching to the EU region did not help me, I had to open Bnet w/o logging in, then log in on EU server once I hit ‘play’. I had to make a new ID, but all is working, for now.
Yeah, as everyone is mentioning its a known issue, but it works if you first go into the Campaign tab, and then Custom.
EDIT: Don’t click the Custom Tab up top. Click the small square button that says Custom after going into Campaign.
with that work around you also have to force close sc2 from task manager before you accept a victory / defeat dialogue or your game will lock up when you go back into the game menu

Hopefully Blizzard will not only fix the issue soon, but they need to determine exactly what caused this and close the loophole that was exploited. Based on previous posts it appears this issue has been steadily growing and affecting more and more players and regions. I see this was first reported almost a week ago in its most recent activity regarding this issue, so it would definitely appear as if the hacker/exploiter has exploited something that has been causing a chain reaction within Blizzard’s servers, and it has only just now reached a level of more extreme inconvenience, so that’s not good. I hope Blizz has a good team of cybersecurity analysts who can determine what happened, where the breach is occurring, and close it off ASAP.

Based on other posts I have read in other threads surrounding this topic a VPN alone won’t work, but one user tried resetting their account and logging into a different world region, E.G. EU, and they said it worked:
Based on this account I would say a reinstall alone won’t work, but adjusting your region so that the Battle.net server defaults you to a different region, and therefore a different game server might work. I have not personally tested the region change or a VPN.
