This map has both strong ground and air waves, but generally Karax is less weak here due to increased air enemy presense on the map.
Mostly it’s just assuming things Nova is good only because of her hitscan units, but it’s not enough. She can’t survive early game by herself.
So. The commanders that can survive early game more of a less consistently on this weekly are:
Abathur, Zagara, Tychus, maybe Stettman (i don’t play Zeratul and other after him)
Commanders, that can effectively kill propers in mid/late are:
Raynor, Swann, Vorazun, Karax, Zagara, Abathur, Alarak (but i guess it would be pretty hard to micro ascendants). Idk about Zeratul and other cuz i don’t play them but i think Zeratul and Stett and Mengsk have some ways to kill these things off. I don’t know about dehakas impalers, but i guess lack of hitscan could end badly for them. Kerrigans hydralisks can kill these things when massed but i wouldn’t bet on it a lot.
2 combos of commanders that i tried and it worked out for this mutation are Abathur + Vorazun and Zagara + Swann.
I can see where Porphyra is coming from, usually Nova’s early detection and powerful hero solves many problems. But that first prop @ 3:30 with cloaking and speed is rather crazy. Does she even have an answer for that? By the 4:50 one she should have spider mines, which I believe still work with speed freaks since that doesn’t change the propagation delay. Though you’d need on-site detection.
I doubt I’m good enough to do next week with Nova, but would certainly love to see someone solo it.
It’s coop, why for are you looking for solo? It’s pretty doable with abathur with high apm thou. I tried using mines as raynor, they got eated by propers in the result. As i suppose, spider mines are ok only on camp spots, but not as reliable defence. Maybe nova’s mines are different in that regard, I don’t know exactly.
So far I’m aware of solo runs done by Raynor, Abby, Tychus, H&H, Fenix, Karax, Nova, Mengsk, and Zeratul. Raynor in particular has wiped the map clean with both bonuses.
Also note there are other ways to go about this. On DoN game had someone as Karax build Shield Batteries to wall off the offensive towers (something the AI has been doing since Sc1). If they went after the Batteries, they would win, just like that.
Didn’t realise props would go around shield batteries to attack other units/structures. Should some gap be left so that the props go around them? If it’s a complete wall off, then wouldn’t the prop attack the battery?
These two tips will help, thanks! I have no problem cheesing an awful/nightmare mutation; it is for me at least.
I guess it depends on where the prop will spawn from, even in the best case, it’s cutting it very close
But if Nova can spawn in time, then double snipe with ability damage mastery can take care of it.
I don’t know if it still works, but one of the old Think Fast mutation vods showed a Swann player kiting it with a Hellion, even when next to it the Hellion moved juuust fast enough away that the prop’s attack animation couldn’t finish
Though I would probably prefer going Raynor and rushing vultures.
I remember beating it with Vorazun and a Raynor ally, though his spider mines aren’t quite as reliable as they once were.
I’m definitely gonna try it with Dehaka, his Impalers should help at least later on. Dehaka can swallow the first ones anyway, giving you and your ally time to get in gear.
Maybe Guardians could still work, I’m not sure if explosive spore will trigger before Propegator will reach them or not though. 2 sec is an awful long time.
If the hole in the wall is blocked by workers on hold position, the propagators will just run around, trying to get through. But other Amon units can interfere with this, causing gators to retarget. I saw somewhere guide for this technique by starcraft2coop, but I cant find it now.
