You’re alt account will fall back down to silver after you play more games on it, they said…
But why come my alt account is currently at a season high 2654 (currently in the middle of a 5 game win streak) after 50 games ranked games played on it?
How do my soldier win % keeps going higher? It was at around 80% when I was near the top of gold. Now it is almost at 85% in mid plat.
Note how the “matchmaker is perfect, you are the problem if you think anything is wrong with it” shills mocked me for being silver, when I created a thread pointing out that the matchmaker was broken and not giving fair matches. I could feel how unfair my matches were and when I tried to point it out, all they could say is “you belong in silver and are making up excuses”
On a side note, how is when I got to within 1 win of plat, I started getting the most difficult games of my life, where it felt like my enemies were all plat and my teammates were all bronze?
First I got to like 2480 and then I got bumped down to 2330 on the most unstoppable losing streak ever. Like I felt completely helpless to do anything in any of those games, because my team was so outmatched.
The next day, I dutifully rose back up to 1 win away from plat and again, one of the most unwinnable games of my life. I played against a 4 stack that featured who I’m pretty sure was a GM smurf, considering our entire team switched to heroes to try to counter him and he still destroyed us.
After that, I had two of the hardest games of my life, where I was basically killing 3-4 enemies every fight and we still couldn’t push payload to the next point until OT, and then barely winning the games in extra rounds. During those 2 games, I almost died from the exertion I faced, trying to hard carry my team but I finally made it to plat.
After crossing the plat threshold, it stopped feeling like the game was trying to throw everything it had at me to try to stop me from winning games and I’ve been winning plat games at about an 80% win rate.
Games are actually feeling easier in plat than in gold or silver. In plat, I don’t feel like I have 2-3 players on my team actively trying to throw every game.
Now, we all know that when people on this forum say “silver/gold is hell to get through” the matchmaker shills always respond “no it’s not, you’re just bad and if you think those games are hard, that just means you belong at that level”… Well, I think my win rate in silver/gold should speak for itself in terms of whether I “belong there”.
But holy hell, it was still rough getting through. In most of those games, I had to play my butt off to win or even keep close (and there were more than a few where I just felt like a complete passenger in the game, where my team was so outmatched that it was impossible for me to do anything).
Let me re-iterate, it is EXTREMELY hard to win games in silver or gold, when you have 2-3 teammates doing absolutely nothing, even if you are above silver/gold skill level. And that is the case in MANY games at that elo. The shills glibly replying “they are just as good as you, you just think you’re better because you’re delusional” as a way to defend the matchmaker is foolish.
I have just proven that, with my climb out of those elos. There is still a large skill variance in plat, but NOTHING close to what it’s like in silver/gold. And plat doesn’t have anywhere close to as many hard thrower teammates, preventing you from winning games. Games are starting to feel fair, where I feel like if I am outplaying one of the players on the enemy team, I will win. It doesn’t feel like I have to consistently outplay 2-3 enemies at the same time to win games, like it did in silver & gold.
It feels like higher up in elo you go, the less you have to hard carry games to win. I.E. in silver, to consistently win you need to be 2-3x as good as the enemy players (to make up for how often your teammates do absolutely nothing), in plat you need to be 1.5x as good as your enemies, in diamond, 1.3x as good, etc (before I quit overwatch for like a year, I was diamond and those games legitimately felt like the easiest to win, where I didn’t have to make up for my teammate’s shortcomings to win, just play my own role well).
THIS IS HOW A BROKEN MATCHMAKING SYSTEM WORKS. It SHOULDN’T be relatively harder to rank up in lower elos than high elos. But it is, because there’s so much dead weight in those elos that don’t drop to where they actually belong, because the matchmaker will just pair them with the high performing players, keeping them stagnant.
This effect doesn’t occur in high elos, because the players there are all serious about the game, so you don’t have a large number of just complete anchor players that do absolutely nothing all game like in low elo.
edit:
This is the last thread I’m going to make on the topic, because we all know how it’s going to go, anyway. The low rank players will nod and agree, the high rank players will ignore all points, and say “you are where you belong, if you didn’t belong there you would climb”, probably without even reading the thread.
But this thread is more for the low rank people, I feel your pain, having just gone through it. Don’t let the high rank “matchmaker is perfect, you’re bad if you can’t climb” shills make you feel inadequate for having difficulty climbing. It IS relatively harder to climb at low elo than high elo, because you have to carry a much higher proportion of the burden to consistently win matches at low elo, not just play your own role better than average, which is the case at high elo.
