[What if?] 2CP maps converted to 5CP Push

So here’s an idea. Convert 2CP into 5CP Push maps:

How about they make them into Push maps.

PointA:AttackerSpawn → PointA → PointB(Symmetrical) → PointA(Mirrored) → PointA:AttackerSpawn(Mirrored)

Default starting spawns are at PointA:DefenderSpawn and PointA:DefenderSpawn(Mirrored)

I think this could be a good idea to recycle the maps

That’s a whole lot of hanamura!!!

Added the “track” for the Push cart.

Wont happen. They are just going to dump the mode and maps in to the Arcade rotation.

No point wasting more time and resources on it.

They’ve already heavily hinted at it getting reworked into another game mode…this is just an option he’s proposing

Yeah. Then in the recent update said they tried some things and it didn’t work and they will probably just move in to the arcade and move on.

It is very likely to be recycled into something anyway if 2cp is going away completely but if it is kept as an arcade mode, it probably won’t happen.

It’s pretty simple to just mirror a map, and make the middle point Symmetrical.

A map designer could probably have that up and running in about a half hour.

Yeah. Agree.

But it is a lot easier just to dump it and spend your time on things that are fun.

Just mirroring the map and calling it a day is lazy, so I don’t think they’re gonna go for it

This is what I had in mind, except as 3CP where you can fight for your current point.

Middle point is meant to have balanced similar distanced points. On every cap, there’s at least 20 seconds to enable the cap on the next one (so people can respawn after stagger, etc).

The idea is that enabling capping back gives the defending team strength if they’re playing really well, plus you play two mirrored rounds.

it could be something nice to see.

But changing them to push could work too.

You do realize the reason I’m right about a lot of the changes they do, is exactly because it’s the “path of least resistance”.

Besides which, you say “Lazy”, I see “Efficient use of Resources”.

It is in fact efficient, it is in fact the least resistance course, it is in fact lazy

If they intended to fit old maps into a new gamemode, I can’t imagine they would want to do it in such a lazy way. Otherwise they would’ve done that by now with one of our existing modes!

Just because something seems obvious in hindsight doesn’t mean it was obvious to devs at the time.

Otherwise we would have had rapidfire variables-only balance patching on day 1.

I second this op, OW needs a “2 hours till a tie” game mode

I mean it wouldn’t be actually 5CP, It would be Push.

Which is more like a variation on a payload map.

That said, CP_5Gorge and CP_Granary were some of my favorite maps.

…This sounds like payload with extra steps…

might as well just convert 2cp into payload.

I mean, they could do that too.

So I won’t say it’s a bad one, but I think having it like that would be twice as long as a normal control/push map, which means the machine would need to work much more on this map
