Widowmaker is dominating this meta right now because she doesnt have a lot of heros jumping on her because Brigitte pretty much ruined all the fun we had in game before. Blizzard is now in the position where they try to fix their mistake which is adding a hero that counters the mobility heros - Brigitte.

  • Brigitte got another nerf to her stun’s ability, 7 seconds cd instead of 6. this might bring back all those dive heros which were countering Widow pretty well.
    so… with the nerf of Brigitte we gonna see more dive heros in the meta which means - its a nerf for Widow.

  • McCree, Soldier and Bastion will be able to deal with Widow better now with the new 50% falloff dmg to their primary fire. this is another nerf for Widow

  • Hanzo’s ability is to headshot aswell, 1 shot 1 kill, he has abit of mobility and his Storm arrow makes him fight pretty much everything in close range. hes going to be a much more viable pick than Widow as a sniper. this is another nerf for Widow

  • Widow’s primary fire (SMG) got nerfed, no more able to deal much dmg from long distance with it. a nerf for Widow

  • Mercy, which is the ONLY healer which can heal Widow consistantly and reach her positions got nerfed (50 healing per seconds instead of 60) means… its another nerf for Widow
    Ana and Moira can heal Widow when shes walking with the team, when a Widow stands highground behind everything its pretty hard for Ana and Moira to heal her consistantly while fighting with a Genji. Lucio is pretty much not a healer for a Widow… Brigitte doesnt have her healing ability ready all the time… Zen might be good but he has to do a lot more for the team than spamming orbs on a Widow.

  • Mei will be able to snipe aswell with 150 dmg headshots. no more falloff dmg. this spam into a Widow is already a big nerf for Widow.

so what else nerfs Widow?

  1. SHIELDS!! - Orisa, Rein, Brigitte, Winston - all those heros are covered behind shields! pretty much hard to touch them as a Widow. Orisa and Rein brings shields to protect their team mates from getting sniped. thats actually why those heros are in the game mostly…

  2. Symmetra’s new ult - once Symmetra use her ult in the right place, Widow is pretty much useless… imagin urself standing behind as Widow in Hanamura first point attack while Symmetra blocks everything with her ultimate… what can you do? youre pretty much useless till the shield is over. if u overextend you becomes an easy target.

  3. Wrecking Ball - this hero MADE to counter the snipers. he has no head when hes rolling as a ball and he has a good mobility that allow him to get to the sniper location.

  4. MAPS- there are tons of maps where Widow isnt a good pick, for example Ilios WELL map isnt that good for her, its easy to reach her locations. so even as a Widow main u know that u can help the team a lot more by not playing Widow at this map.

  5. 3-4 TANKS - when people start using more than 2 tanks, Widow has less potential to do her job which is to delete heros with a 1 shot. when you cant 1 shot the enemy youre pretty much useless.

Widow is really easy to counter since when shes in her scope mode shes EASY to kill. her movement while in scope mode is predictible… shes slow af, it almost like standing. when youre moving, you makes it really hard for the enemy to kill you. thats why Sleep, Stuns, Shatter, Grave are strong abilities. When Widow in scope mode its much more easier to kill her and dmg her as Soldier than headshoting the Soldier…

today Blizzard decided to nerf Widow even more by increasing her hook’s CD to 10 seconds instead of 8. the question is WHY?
she were dominating the meta u added to the game by making Hanzo too OP and releasing Brigitte. if u will fix ur game (u already did) she will back to be a hero u use only if ure good with her.
all those nerfs/buffs u added to the rest of the heros makes her already a lot harder to play so nerfing her hook like it was a big of a deal… comon.
any other dive hero has ability mobility with less than 8 seconds…
you put Widow in a bad spot right now, she will never be viable since she can be countered a lot easier now.

Winston’s primary fire hits 60 dmg per second, Mercy will heal 50 dmg per seconds… that already means that Winston is going to kill Widow even with a pocket Mercy on her. isnt it already a big nerf?

Widow is totaly balanced, shes hard to use, she doesnt have this ult that make u kill 3 people instantly like Genji’s blade. her power is when shes surprising the enemy… but there is no point to play sneaky with her anymore since her mobility is gone with 10 seconds hook cd.

I am pretty much going to quit Overwatch just like many more, I dont like the fact that u buff and nerf heros just for a Season… when you buff a hero you gotta keep building the game from this point and not to go back to where the hero wasnt good enough.

Widow next patches going to be dead. yes u can still kill with headshots and stuff but she wont be a viable dps anymore. Snipers are dead. I mean, Hanzo wont be dead because he can still push with the team and work as a mid range hero while Widow cant.

P.S - another point is where people will start getting banned for picking Widow. just like all of the Symmetra/torb players. Widow will be in a VERY bad position.

RIP Widowmaker. if this is going live Im leaving Overwatch.

Totally agree with everything here, for a hero 13 - 17th in win rate and while Rein is 10th in win rate and has 2x-3x the pick rate as her in Masters and GM all these nerfs make zero sense. She needs her grapple bugs fixed because they happen often and frequently get her killed.

I don’t think bashing the balance team is ever productive but it certainly feels like this set of balance changes were overall not made from a data or statistics standpoint at all but rather an extremely salty and biased forum goer.

she were too op at first and now shes getting nerfed because she pretty much dominated the game by changing the meta! its not even changing the meta is making a META useless. thats why no one wanted to play dive heros…
now with her nerfs dive heros will join the game so the question is… why Widow needs a hook cd nerf? she was easy to counter in the dive meta. and dive will comeback, logic?

They don’t want us to play Widow anymore. It’s obvious they’re pushing us towards spammy Hanzo.

Sad that the only thing that changed was the META. The reason Widow is used a lot currently is because she doesn’t have Winston, DVA, Genji and Tracer Harassing and killing her all the time anymore.

Next Meta will be back to Dive with Hammond. And Widow will be back to being an easy kill for all the mentioned characters and add to that Hammond.

Widow didn’t receive any recent changes that suddenly made her powerful. Unless we are balancing the game based on the fact that players have improved with a character. In that case why even practice to get good with a character if people are just going to cry about it and call for a nerf.

Lesson of the day is , don’t get TOO good with your favorite character because people will think they are OP and get them nerfed.

you hate the sniper meta, I do hate the sniper meta aswell and im a Widow main. after their huge nerfs and buffs to the other heros snipers wont be viable as they are right now. Wrecking Ball is going to counter them aswell… so this thread is mostly against the fact that they nerfed Widow’s hook cd which wasnt needed at all.

Finally. In my gm games we can now counter Widow without just another Widow. I’d nerf her again.

‘dominated the game by changing the meta’ first of all even in her most op state she wasnt meta, she only changed the meta from dive, she actually hasnt been meta except in goats comp. Brigs unfun to fight, never has been op

Widow is easy to counter with any dive hero. in GM ppl play META… and Brigitte made Widow powerful cause people simply stopped playing dive heros. even with 8 seconds hook shes an easy target for a Genji, Tracer, Winston and Dva…

why in GM people countered Widow with another Widow? cause both teams had Rein Zarya Brigitte… no point going dive, so u go Widow to counter the Widow.
if youre a real GM player u may know that. u also probably never played Widow and u dont know how hard is to be consistantly good with her in a match where everyone shoots u, jump on u, snipe u, and puts shields infront of u.

You’re plat. You don’t understand what it’s like to face a good Widow. Absolutely nothing counters her, unless you get another Widow. It’s the truth of the matter. She can one shot from a very safe distance.

Then why is someone with widow in their top 3 most played not even in the top 10 on the ladder. Nothing counters Widow but another Widow is a false narrative, and has the same logic value and ignoring of facts as “it’s cold today so climate change isn’t real”.

Ever played in a gm game before?
If the enemy has a Widow, you also need a Widow. Why do you think she currently rn this OWL season has a busted pickrate?
