It seems the creators discord were the devs chat with streamer youtubers seem to be behind all the changes.
Just now saw samito on his stream bragging about it, he is also saying he is going to make sure brig gets nerfed and is going to badger it in the discord.
He also kept crying that the moment the nemy team takes brig he will have to swap of genji.
He also said widowmaker is so OP as he dashed straight into her scope in a straight line and got his head poped.
Then he swapped while complaining about brig,
This isnt a thread to flame samito or the streamers i watch his stream and enjoy it at times, but these are literally masters and gm players who are influencing based on personal bias and interests genji is certainly going to look cooler for a streamer than a brig.
I just hope blizzard doesnt listen too much to this 1% group.

If we go based on the 40,000,000 player number we were given in may 2018, this means pros are literally less than 0.001% of players and yet they decide almost every single balance change.

I have good faith Samito isn’t the only player listened to and that the devs still have some ideas about what they want or not.
Not saying won’t be nerfed soon, but i’ve read discord messages from different players talking her armor pack, not just one people or two saying she should be destroyed.

I watch Fitzy play on Youtube regularly, and for every moment I’m really impressed with his gameplay, there’s another moment where I’m watching him shoot directly into Sigma’s shield generation ability feeding him shields, and I’m like, bro what are you doing, stop that - and he just keeps shooting. So like, for as much skill as high level players can have, I think all game developers need to realize that they are HUMAN and are prone to… Dumb brain errors as much as anyone else, let’s say.

I have an issue with most of the game being balanced around top player/content creator input
I’d like to see it balanced around top player data not their opinons. Eventually someone is going to comment about they don’t like “X” at any skill level because they have a personal issue with playing around it. It’s why I think alot of heroes get dumpstered because you’ll have a pro community built around certain heroes that don’t like newer character meta changes disrupting them.

That is basically what happens. That’s pretty much I think why Rein won’t ever get touched, he can be, and is, in every game, it’s gone on way longer than moth meta and he’s showing no sign of going anywhere any time soon.
The same I guess with Ana, there’s this pool of heroes they want to function, and anything outside of that they just gang up on in their echo chamber and basically conspire to get shut.
Game shouldn’t be balanced around what they deem “acceptable”.

Has anyone noticed that Samito is a DPS player in this “private discord” server. And all the buffs have been pretty much going to the DPS role…

I watch his gameplay, and I’m just further convinced that rank means so little in this game. There’s a reason why real competitive games tend to just laugh at Overwatch ranking, even though there’s a lot of skill involved here of the non-mechanical variety that those folks don’t get. But Samito is terrible at that. He’s whiny, he doesn’t seem to have any grasp of game sense, positioning, or anything important like that. And mechanically he’s not even impressive.
There’s a reason why Overwatch’s competitive integrity is a laughingstock, and whiny idiots like Samito are that reason.

Honestly Healer balance is pretty decent right now.
DPS balance isn’t too bad, with a few exceptions with Sym/Bastion being bad, and the weird place Mei/Sombra is in with OWL viability and Ladder trash.
And the only glaring weirdness is that devs have barely done anything about Tanks in the last 6 months.

I think that’s a function of the horrible tank balance more generally. Otherwise I’d kind of agree, most dps and most healers are reasonably well balanced.
But for the mess of tanks meaning you’ve got to play around Rein-Zarya or Rein-Sigma, you can make most things work.

Mercy is basically unplayable at most lower ranks despite her being a character that was designed around newer and lower skill players learning her as a starting point. She’s virtually worthless at this point compared to other healers and what they can do for your team.
Lucio is basically nonexistent in my games these days, and when we DO have a Lucio you might as well just consider yourself a player down because the value that the average player can get out of him is basically nothing.
Ana is getting deleted by everything in the game, Doomfist, Echo, now Genji is getting a hard buff, so unless you’re real good at landing that special sleep dart (and even when you do, 9/10 times someone on your team wakes them up anyway) you’re basically just asking to die - and while she has good abilities that are balanced well in the game, her mobility and positioning options are so limited that you’re having to play the game ten times harder than all the other healers because of it.
Balance is whack IMO especially for the healers. Their priorities have gone… Haywire.

Maybe so, but I’d still argue that the support roster feels very stale right now with least amount of characters and all of them having had nerfs.
It might be for balance, but having only 7 characters you’re locked into … all of which used to have such higher impact at some point… is something that just puts me in anguish rn.

Welp, yea, they always going to ask some certian small group they want to keep plaing i guessing. And since humans are biased creatures, they are biased also towards certian heroes and game mechanics.
I believe genji changes was especialy made because off… lack of interest swapping off genji by many people. Sadly its not good way to fix a problem, but i guess their plan is to make genji hero you dont need to swap.
