Sure, but that’s the lack of them, not that they’re badly balanced.
Ye at this point a healer is more usefull wehn he is good at surviing all the stuff that gets thrown at em than good at healing
I think the problem is that you’d want a dev team who’s watching Samito dash headfirst into a primed Widow shot to have enough sense to say to themselves ‘well let’s take this guy’s input with a grain of salt, clearly he’s not flawless and his opinion isn’t going to be perfect’ - but they haven’t done much to generate that kind of faith in their decision making process.
I find this part pretty hard to believe unless you’re GM.
Where as Brig is only getting used to prop up a DoubleBarrier, with Mei no longer able to fill the “basically an offtank” position for DoubleBarrier.
Yes, but good balance in a role full of unimpactful or too easy mechanics is also arguably a product of bad balance, if you wish to consider balance under design.
But again, I do agree that we’re only a couple of patches of a good balance for supports. Bearing in mind good balance does not equal a good roster.
Nope I am exceptionally average, though I get sorted with a huge variety of players depending on the game, up to masters players sometimes. Depends on time of day / quantity of players in rotation and how well I’ve been doing lately. Really wide range.
I’d say people pick Lucio like… one out of every 10 games. More often than not I will see Moira/Ana as first / most likely healer to be in the game, then Bap, Mercy trailing behind, and then way less likely is Brig/Lucio. I see more Brig in my games these days than I do Lucio, and I’m not sure it’s so much a Lucio Balance problem as it is a, the heroes Lucio pairs well with right now aren’t very popular. I see way less Orisa for instance, though Sigma is still oddly popular I think because he’s still new, people swap off of him a lot mid game because he just can’t provide the same kind of value without a heavily structured team backing him up.
What you gotta realize is that at AVERAGE ranks, you can’t just expect heals, or expect your tanks to do what tanks do. You aren’t ‘playing overwatch’ in the sense that you have a team - you have a random assortment of people who might occasionally manage to be in the same area fighting the enemy, and that’s about it. Structure, teamwork, all those things? basically nonexistent. Every so often there will be enough people that are playing well that it just sort of happens, but you do not want to expect actual Teamwork in the game of Overwatch, or else you will be disappointed like 500% of the time.
edit: this means that the characters that require teammates to ‘prop them up’ to get value out of them (Sym, Bastion, Lucio doesn’t give the team value unless he’s with the team because he’s AOE, etc.) are significantly less valuable just… because.
I wish it was. Players like him are absolutely disgusting. If his first initiative is to buff genji and nerf brig when the entire tank and support class is in shambles, he is a delusional idiot. on second thought, he probably is.
To use an example of what I said earlier about Samito. I decided to watch Moxie’s stream for a game or two. And speak of the devil, he had Samito on his team. And pretty much the whole game, he had nothing good to say except whine and complain about something.
At the end of the game he continued, and Moxie said on his stream “all this guy does is complian”. (In a joking way) but you could definitely tell he meant it.
Because listening to the forum would be so much better for balance, as opposed to taking ideas from top rank players.
I rather see them using statistics than player feedback for hero balancing.
Maybe they do?
We just don’t have the stats (overbuff is not exactly reliable).
It’s true that we don’t have a good source for hero stats, but even if Overbuff isn’t that reliable, is it always more reliable than opinions from a few players.
YOu. SaId. WhAt. nEEdED. tO. bE. SaiD.
Even though Blizzard did not provide stats, they provided a reason for Genji’s buffs.
They want him to be burst damage hero and compete with Echo and Doom. Pre-buff he had low sustain damage and unreliable burst.
That is because they are not ‘masters’ or ‘professionals’ they are entitled brats who I know for a fact some of them of cheating because they are able to immediately spin around and headshot people they had no reason to know was there.
But no Blizzard is going to cater to them because Blizzards head people are arrogant and think everyone is just going to blindly fall in line with what the professionals say because of their title so they balance to appease these entitled brats and then wonder why their dps ques are like 50 minutes long because the head honchos at blizzard are arrogant stupid people.
Who would’ve guessed. Genji gets buffed, all Genji OTPs come back. But wait, Brig is actually countering him?! Nerf, nerf, nerf now! Crying!
So this streamer brags about changes like they were tailored for him, and we’re believing it like there wasn’t a big opinion about Genji being underpowered community-wide?
We had a shield revamp patch not too long ago, and et voila, 2 Rein nerfs and a Mei trashing later Orisa/Sigma are back in town.
Point is I’d rather avoid big sweeping changes to supports and tanks right now. Yeah let’s tweak as fast as possible, but both patches that aimed to rebalance roles all together failed miserably. The first buffed goats and over-nerfed Mercy - something the game never recovered from - and the shield one made Orisa/Sigma stronger brawl comp, which led to more nerfs then Rein being OP which got us here.
In the interested of gameplay quality for dedicated tank players, who I assume would rather not have the roster flipped on its head a second time this year, I urge devs to simply turn Orisa into a bunker shield tank and don’t touch anything else for months unless the game breaks.
Which town?
OWL town.
