I think the first tip I could give you is to change your attitude. Yes, there are throwers, toxic jerks, and people who have just plain bad games… but the other teams have those too. Using that as an excuse for your rank is just a crutch that keeps you from analyzing your own mistakes.
I do not believe Ana or McCree are great climb heroes as they rely to heavily on the team to protect them. Doomfist requires a lot of that as well. Maybe you should try some more independent characters?
You aren’t getting bad teammates. You are playing at a gold level. Elo hell isnt real, it is an excuse people say to themselves to feel better.
Every loss you receive is your own fault, unless you are picking widow and getting 500 headshots in a game, there is always something you could have done better. Stop blaming your team.
Well, that’s actually not the whole truth, but you’re welcome to believe it is.
“ELO hell” does have some validity to it as does your statement.
It’s actually quite possible to get “stuck” in/near a rating that doesn’t accurately reflect your skill because the difference in skill between individual ranks isn’t really that high. For example the difference between a high silver and low gold player in most cases isn’t enough for that same player to “climb” out of high silver if they get their due to a bad streak of leavers/throwers/DC’s etc.
Yes, if you’re a top 500 player you can climb out of just about anywhere because you’re THAT much better, but when you’re talking the difference between high gold and high platinum, it can be MUCH more difficult and even rather unlikely unless you play a lot of games or get fortunate.
Get a bigger hero pool. Be comfortable with at least two from each role. Find which heroes you have good winrates with. Watch pro players of those heroes. Fill for your team. Be a shot caller. Don’t be toxic. Realize losing is part of the game.
Edit: Others suggest maining a role. While I do think that maining has its benefits, being able to fill when needed is so valuable to a team. Flexing also encourages a positive team environment from the start of the game which alone can turn the tides in your team’s favor.
Play Main Tank, Off Tank, Projectile DPS, hitscan DPS, flex support or main support and stick with those heroes. Heroes in the same role have transferrable skillsets.
That is just a sample size thing. If you deserve to be 50 sr higher, over a large enough sample size you will reach that point. Obviously you won’t insta-carry until you reach the exact number. That is just common sense
To reply to the OP, I would say focus on counters. If you’re good enough to play McCree at a high-plat level than you should be able to hot-swap to Reaper if the enemy team comp dictates it. The same way with your support. If you’re team’s running a heavy tank comp then Ana is a smart choice, but if your team is running a heavy flank comp then take the hit for a game and play Mercy.
Exactly, so “ELO hell” is a very viable thing in a small sample size. How large that sample size has to be is dictated by how superior you actually are in skill to where you think you’re “stuck.”
If OP is in low gold but “should be” in high diamond (actually has that skill level) than they probably don’t need that many games to start climbing. However, if they are in high gold and have the actual skill of mid plat then they will need a lot more games to actually make that climb and if they don’t play enough games, it will feel like “ELO hell.”
