A list of Mei bugs. (With updated videos and more bugs added.)

Here is a small list of Mei bugs.
If anyone has more bugs to add, please let me know. I will try adding it.


1. Cryo-Freeze doesn’t use favor-the-shooter causing Mei to be killable in her Iceblock.

There is already a thread about this problem on the forums which contains more videos.

Mei’s Cryo-Freeze use Favor-The-Shooter. (This is confirmed btw.) This means that this defensive ability isn’t reliable to bait abilities, because stuns and damage can go through the first few frames of the ability. (This is especially noticeable with Roadhog’s hook.) What’s worse is that you can see the Iceblock on your screen and your screen already went to third person. In the video below can you see that other players can see the ability be used and cancelled as well.

2. [FIXED] Hitboxes of frozen enemies doesn’t match the the frozen body.

I know the hitboxes of enemies doesn’t always match with the frozen bodies, but I have never seen a head just disappear. Sometimes does the hitboxes not match with the the frozen bodies which makes it hard to land that critshot, because the critbox isn’t on the head.

I don’t know what has changed in the latest patch, but enemies seems to be able to dodge damage while being frozen.


3. Getting teleported around the map when you go up on a Ice-wall.

This is an odd one. If you place a wall below you do you have to teleport around the map on your screen. This is very disorienting bug.

4. The ultimate can get stuck and delayed.

Mei’s ultimate should have a total cast time of 1,5 seconds (depending on the throw distance). If it is thrown under an object like a payload can it be delayed by twice the cast time. In the video below can you see the cast time of normal ultimate and a delayed ultimate.

5. Freeze particles can go through ALL walls and is visible to all players (tested with another player).

The particle effect can go through walls as long if you stand directly against it. Teammates and enemies can see it go through the wall. This can be exploited to disrupt the enemy team who are on point.

6. Wall placement isn’t always correct.

The video is self explanatory. The wall is placed on the spot you’re aiming at.
(Does Symmetra’s ultimate has the same problem?)

7. Mei’s ultimate effect gets cancelled by FRIENDLY Reinhardt shatter.

Reinhardt’s stun seems to overrule Mei’s freeze. This means that enemies who were already frozen in Mei’s ultimate will be unfrozen for the shatter and remain unfrozen if the Reinhardt’s stun duration has finished but the Mei’s ultimate hasn’t. (Mei’s ultimate lasts 5 seconds and Reinhardt’s stun lasts 2,5 seconds.)

8. The hat on the Iceblock of the Mei-rry skin clips doesn’t stay up.

This is a small visual bug. I love the Mei-rry skin and I do want to use it during the Winter Wonderland event, but there seems to be a bug with Mei’s Christmas hat. It become flaccid and clips through the snowman Cryo-Freeze if Mei use this ability. It’s this different looking ability that makes this skin special and Legendary worthy and I would hate to see it bugged like this. Please make it stay up again.

9. Golden weapon becomes shinier when emoting.

I love playing Mei, but these bugs make playing her excruciating sometimes.
Please take a look at some of these bugs.


Also, to the players saying that the disappearing ultimate is a bug as well, it isn’t. It’s latency. You can read more about this here:

I have added another bug that was posted on Reddit.

So, the last 2 are new.
The last one is especially a problem, i wonder if enemies can be shot throught wall while infrasight is up.

I’m going to remove point 9.

This might not be a bug. The wall isn’t placed instant. It’s quickly going up from the ground (allowing Mei to be lifted). It is possible that the player was killed when the wall was risen.

The death cam isn’t reliable because it shows what happened on your screen and not what happened on the enemy’s screen.

here’s a vid of the Frozen hitboxes not working properly without a glitching brig head. Might make it more clear that it’s indeed a hitbox/freeze problem and not some other weird bug going on there.

A lot of these bugs have been around for a very long time and still haven’t been fixed(I’m looking at you “getting killed in Cryo” bug).

that’s definitely the most noticeable one if you’re playing her yeah. I’d say that on average i get killed at least once per game simply because of this bug.
And i’m playing at 20ping. I’ve tried playing Mei on the US servers and i don’t know how anyone can play her with 80+ ping

I’m not asking for buffs. I’m asking for Mei to be playable without bugs.

I have never encountered freezing through a wall, nor have I experienced instant transmission with my own wall. I have, however, experienced several moments where enemies in my Blizzard don’t get affected by it at all. It’s as if I only spawned the animation, but not the ability. I’ll post it if I encounter it again.

Out of these bugs, I’ve seen the Rein/Mei one happen in some of my games.

You gave to stand against the wall to have the particle effects go through it.

It’s a pretty rare bug. It only happened around 4 or 5 times to me. I happened to record these 2 moments.

the ult is affected by line of sight, so something might have been blocking it even though for some reason the animation always shows the entire circle even through walls.

However there have definitely been cases where someone just doesnt get frozen, whether it be by ult or regular freeze. I’ve had an Ana stand in the middle of my blizzard on a completely flat piece of land without a care in the world, even jumping around a bit so there definitely wasnt even a small pebble blocking it as she wouldve gotten hit when she moved.
I’ve also had an entire clip of freeze unloaded into a D.va without her being frozen.

Still getting hitmarkers, so i should definitely be freezing them in those scenarios, but for some reason it just wont.
It’s definitely one of the more rare ones. And i haven’t been able to get a good clip of it yet unfortunately.

Oh they were definitely in line of sight. I remember it so fondly because the soldier that wasn’t getting frozen killed me and immediately t-bagged me.

As someone who plays a considerable amount of Mei, I’ve experienced every one.
The first one is especially frustrating since it messes with one of her niches, baiting out abilities.

Number 3 happens to me so much. Even if I’m not playing mei and I’m lifted up it still happens.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s encountered this bug. It’s definitely an annoying one because it’s very disorientating.

I’d assume that wall teleport is also ping based, with the server trying to figure out where you should be positioned, i tend to notice it a lot more in my US games than my EU games at least.

I had this bug in the EU servers and I usually have 40 ms ping.

How is playing Mei on the US servers? Doesn’t the higher ping not affect your gameplay?
