Things like this make me think MM is rigged

That’s all heroes free to play smurfs, it’s been terrible honestly.

Actually, I’ve been meeting a lot of brand new players. And some returning ones. Definitely not good players smurfing.

I have heard that the unique player count is up, and I assume some of that is due to the quarantining.

Perhaps, unless Blizzard says so for sure it’s just anecdotal. I do know that the players I’ve had today have not known that me doing 4 times hero damage/seige/xp vs Nova doing 2 more kills vs 1/4 hero damage for four times as many deaths for example, was evidence I was “bad”.

Yeeees…but, this doesn’t sound like a case of better opponents so much as worse team mates. And that is something I cannot figure out either. How can I be getting teamed with people who simply do not understand the concepts of soaking and objective timers, and who play like they are new to their hero, especially after a winning streak?

I’m not complaining. I accept that this is something I have little to no control over and I just enjoy playing my heroes. But it is certainly very puzzling.

Going to have to be honest with you on this one and point out several things could happen here.

For me personally I would go with the “if the shoe fits mentality”
You know so basically its like, wooooooooow the kid with 3k less MMR on my team is gong 0-14 you don’t say. Honestly in the end I think Blizzard would end up being the target for most of the anger and frustration over that player.

On the other hand if someone has 3k less MMR on your team but someone else is going 0-14…….guess who is getting chewed out that match.

See if mommy blizz was so worried her kitties were going to hurt each other over some in game stats then why in dear god are there any stats to begin with.

Visible MMR is more of a conformation than anything. So its doubtful that anything might change at all.

Oh man. The single neatest and simultaneously most crushing experience with this game for me so far was encountering a Medivh in QM. He completely decimated me personally, and my team. Afterwards I looked at his profile. Account level was <150, but he was a 44 Medivh Diamond player. We literally had no chance.

The MM system that was put in place in theory, was based off the premise that the more you win the higher your MMR gets. The Higher your MMR the stronger players you fight while also being placed on a team of equal skill until you are the poooottttaaaattoooo on the team. I have never seen any proof that this happens. I haven’t even seen anything that proves that I am fighting better people.

If Blizzard wanted to show MMR and get rid of all this fighting and prove their system works then they would. Kinda funny how they just don’t.

It seems they don’t want transparency, they will never just show flat rate MMR numbers. I can’t see any valid reason why this should not be so.

your comment doesnt make sense. Because If you talk about SL , than you litteraly see the oponnents MMR every game. Rank = MMR

Rank is not MMR. Its not even close.
You can have Masters MMR and a Bronze Rank ez. Just leave before a game starts, get -600 and repeat without ever playing a match or tossing your MMR.

I’ve been matched against better players as I’ve climbed. The problem is I got handicapped with potatoes more often too. I would be fine playing tougher opponents as I ranked up but that just doesn’t happen.

To rank up you need to win consistently. The game doesn’t like you going on win streaks though. If you go on a decent win streak the game either puts you against a stack or saddles you with a potato teammate or two. The justification is good players will carry but both of these scenarios are nearly impossible to carry through.

They know showing MMR would just reveal how ugly the MM is. They would rather avoid the backlash and just keep everyone in the dark. Can you blame them? I doubt they have the resources to revamp the entire MM system.

It would reveal how the MM levels out teams in pretty unfair ways. They don’t want to deal with the backlash from that. Not like they could change the MM anyways.

no you cant have Master MMR and Bronze Rank. Since SL both are absolutely the same as stated by the devolopers and even on the Hots website.

MMR and rank are indeed two different things. They were even talking about making MMR visible but scrapped that after HGC was cut and the Hots team reduced.

Rank is the number you are at on the ladder while MMR (typically) is where the game thinks you should be. Hots doesn’t seem to have a metric MMR system built by individual performance stats. The system appears to largely be wins and losses. The more you win the more the MM tries to challenge you. Either with tougher opponents or (in most cases) by forcing you to play with a handicap like an under performing teammate to compensate the lobby.

No point in trying to point out flaws some people will refuse everything even though they have no proof to back up the fact the current system even works. Its a shame as it stands now there is more evidence that proves it doesn’t even exists than the fact their is one in the first place.

Just got off an 8 game streak to have a kerri have 10k hero damage and a valla with 12 while I was Uther with 27k hero damage…even managed to out heal their Alex. Glad these people are soooooooooooooooo much better than I am
Kerri 2-9
Valla 0-6
Me 4-0

The sad part is how the MM tries to make the ladder irrelevant. Just because I’m on a win streak doesn’t mean I need to be knocked down with a couple potatoes or face a 3-5 stack. The whole point of a ranked ladder is to face random people as close to me in rank as possible then rinse and repeat again. That means your ability is what either makes you go up or fall down. Instead we have a MM that tries to even things out. That’s just frustrating.

It’s already difficult enough to find teammates in ranked that will cooperate. Why do we have to deal with a MM that makes games more difficult than playing people all around the same rank?

See I cant understand that either but this is what blizzard thought was a good idea and its pretty obvious how that turned out. It is no wonder why people avoid ranked to the point it was cut into a single que.

I didn’t avoid ranked because of the MM. I avoided ranked because you run into the most selfish and toxic players there. You think the people who play ranked would have competitive attitudes but that’s a big nope.

I would be stressed and angry all the time in ranked as well if I had to deal with a MM system that tossed away logic and personal skill.

I don’t play ranked because I don’t have a 5 stack and dealing with trolls and randomis just tooooo much for me in a mode like that.

If they have been able to show it in SC2 nearly a decade ago, and also show which team is favored, the only question is why can’t they do that in HotS? It is the same game engine.

And if we go QM, it should just show us player MMR’s. But probably they are too afraid to show that they are putting together a 1800 and a 3200 on the same team and expecting the 3200 to carry.
