Things like this make me think MM is rigged

Sad that all the info from the old forums are gone :frowning:

Ye they removed old forum so you cant find topics from 2017 anymore.

Just ping once, don’t spam. I find they sometimes listen and sometimes everyone listens and it goes well but if you spam, they wouldn’t listen to you anyway. However, if they’re responsive to pings, it’s a good sign that they’re open to improvement.

Nonetheless, there are just some people who will do what they want and there’s nothing you can do about it so just take it with a grain of salt.

Ye ping once is fine, but i have tried to get people who dont even react on pings cause it can be muted so i get teams were none react on pings and then blame others for not warning them lol

I had a Xul who after he died once to a gank he refused to solo lane lol cause no one warned him. LIke you got your own mini map man. You cant count on that the 4 others will baby sit you with pings whole game and every game.

Oh i’m aware that ping spam is considered bad and pushy. I don’t do that. I will ping once and leave it to my team mates to decide if they want to listen.

I will ping multiple times throughout the match but they are all separate suggestions. Like ill ping once danger to the solo pusher thats about to get ganked and ill ping once right before the objective spawns to remind people to come, etc.

Used some sherlock abilities to uncover the original link. It was a link to a matchmaker developer’s presentation at Activision (dr. Josh Menke, I assume doctorate in mathematics, statistics or the sort).

It has very good insider information and developer thoughts. Thank you for bringing that up.

Turns out they take in a lot of factors for matchmaking. It’s very complicated and hard to do right.

I’m definitely not going and try to defend MMR-averaging, i’d like to see that gone or reigned in myself rather sooner than later.

Just pointing out that thid is a more a problem of a ill-conceived system (in QM at least) than active rigging.

If only this was even close to true at lower levels…

I think most people who play Hots want MM improvements. I didn’t mean to come off like I was attacking your comment. I just didn’t like you surmising that the difficulty in winning games meant facing tougher opponents. Often times it means playing with a handicap.

Look at Overwatch’s horrible MM in comparison. In their system they gauge players with key stats (mostly abilities and ults) to match games. The problem is for some reason those geniuses decided it was a bright idea to make every match as competitive as possible.

That defeats the whole point of a ranked ladder. The MM is actively making games at every rank overly competitive in that game. It’s no wonder everyone who still plays Overwatch is always so frustrated playing it. The games MM makes game more intense than it needs to and that causes toxicity.

At least in Hots, MMR is only tied to wins and losses. It still leads to some stupid matchmaking but it only gets really frustrating when the loss streaks get ridiculous or you get selfishly toxic teammates continuously.

Did not take it as such, just wanted to clarify the intent of the post.

Which I could see MMR so I knew this was true tbh. I never really feel like the people I keep fighting are better just less bad than the people the game thinks I can carry.

Seeing everyones MMR would probably lead to more toxicity, but being able to see my own MMR in each mode that has it would be nice to have.

Had a game where i was facing malganis imperius butcher deckard and ktz as the sole melee as diablo.
Anyone would have ragequitted the game cause rigged comps.

We won , got MVP with no deaths.

This.

If I’m doing well, I expect to be matched against tougher opponents.
I do not expect to be matched with teammates increasingly comparable in collective IQ to a single koala.

The whole point of matchmaking should be to find you a skill level you fit in, not to pin you at roughly the same level forever. I doubt the latter of these is intended, but that’s what’s happening

In fact, if your skill rating goes up, your teammates should actually be getting better along with you! Because, you know, now you’re playing at a higher skill level, right? Right?

But that’s not what we see. I will get winstreaks where my teammates range in weight from “nearly threw out my back” to “basically anti-gravity for our entire team,” then I’ll get a losing streak with teammates ranging from “actually threw out my back” to “so heavy they have their own gravity well.” Lather, rinse, repeat.

It actively kills my desire to play this game in the little free time I can alot to it. I’ll just go play SC2 Arcade, where MMing is determined by who joins the lobby when, and get better MMing there just via nearly-random chance.

Ok, boomer.

You’re acting like anyone has said, “I don’t like this (except when it works for me).”

No one has said that.

This is a problem no matter what team is currently affected. A stomp is a stomp, regardless of a win or loss. Neither are often very enjoyable, though losses are actually frustrating rather than merely disappointing.

Fixed. 20 stupid symbols.

I barely feel like I lose to players more skilled than myself. Some games I’ll notice a really skilled player on the enemy team playing something really high skill like Alarak, Ming, Zera or KTz but not very often.

It might lead to more frustration with the MM but not necessarily more player on player toxicity. Why get mad at players on your team if you can see they’re a potato out of the gate? I would get more frustrated with MM.

Matchmaking is bad, not rigged. As the active population recedes it also makes any kind of “good” matchmaking impossible.

I thought about linking the slide show, but this was not NEARLY as informative as the video.

I feel the population has been getting larger lately.
