Downvotes were a problem and still are one on /hots. Too bad you can’t downvote me anymore for expressing my opinion, now you have to put some effort into your disagreement!

And now imagine the people who put some thoughts into the postings and get literally downvoted for nothing but expressing themselves on a discussion board.

Really, it was about time.

Yes, you can flag it, which I did. But that doesn’t stop the deranged person known as Healsonheels - They’ll have another alt account within a few hours ready to go. Seriously, Blizzard needs to contact the local authorities and get that poster some help.

Your opinion is wrong and not worth my time to explain it. A downvote was a good way to express yourself without cluttering the board with more meaningless “I disagree too!”

I’m surprised you did not read the first post. the one that i made this thread for.

This sums up why i like downvotes. If i could just put in “lol no” for every time i saw someone make a dumb post now then maybe there could be a better argument for getting rid of them. But this 2 0 C H A R A C T E R minimum is stupid.
I don’t want to go around here to basically put in the same thing of “this is stupid what are you even doing here” on a lot of threads I see.

What did you expect? Of course you guys have to put some effort into your thoughts now. The times of cheap downvotes, regardless how engaging the topic was, is over. This is how it is supposed to work. If you can’t reply to a posting, you shouldn’t be neither part of it. I have seen it several times that people gang up on innocent posters in a psychological warfare and it was not pleasant to see it, especially in the WoW-Forums.

I am really not sure if you are misunderstanding me on purpose at that point.

I never cared about what other people do with the voting function. I want a fast way to see how popular a post is. I dont care what blizzard does with that information, i dont care what other players do with that information. Its simply for me so i can see how popular a post is.

I hope that makes it clear.

I don’t have time to be here all day to respond to everything i don’t like with a paragraph of why i think they are being an idiot. You may have that time so good on you.

When i see an engaging enough of a topic i will respond to it. if anything now this is better for the trolls because now instead of just passing on a simple downvote when are being idiots me and every other person has to basically put in the same thing of “you’re an idiot” how engaging.

the WoW forums were just sub gang wars of alliance vs horde. not a good comparison.
Also if someone really gets upset about their post got disliked bombed than maybe they should’t be on here if they can’t take criticism. Also nice straw man there.

I would argue you had nothing to say either, other than to gloat about finally being able to post garbage and not having to worry about downvotes. No one wants to argue with you. Your own beliefs are ingrained, and the amount of effort required to change your mind is beyond what can be put in a forum post. Do you feel enriched having read all this? I certainly don’t having wrote it. Now you are arguing with some random person on the internet. I don’t doubt you have the lack of responsibility and reason to outlast me and declare some hollow victory when I get bored and give up, but the truth is we’ve all lost.

Don’t project your own imagination on others. This is the first thing you need to understand in such discussions. Never assume that you know the person before you, otherwise this will come back to bite you in actual RL-debattes.

Secondly, throwing insults isn’t really what you call a discussion. It’s like WW3, someone throws a stone, the other one a stick. Compelling like nothing else. In addition, don’t call everyone a troll just because you assume that they’re trolling.

What most people lack are proper communication skills, expressing their inner thoughts to the fullest. When someone simply replies with “it sucks”, then it lacks the information why this person is upset. People just don’t want put some effort into everything which is why most of the discussions are worthless.

This “culture”, if you like to call it this way, is more resentful towards everything with a more sarcastic expression.

Or maybe, just maybe, there are SO many bad posts on the forums that there aren’t enough hours in the day to type out a well thought out reply to each…

Especially the Troll posts from HoH.
