New patch (2.48.1.76517) crashing repeatedly

I had this issue (and the ones above) as well. I solved the right corner thing by changing it to window mode and just expanding it (using Mac’s green full screen button in the top right).

Should probably throw mine own into the ring. I feel like it has crashed on other maps, but now I’m wondering if it is just sky temple. I have 0 errors when playing on a 2015 MacBook Pro

AMD Radeon Pro 5500M:

This or CMD+M, yes to fix the screen issue. But this wouldn’t prevent a kernel panic.

Hard crashing my Mac here. It actually reboots my Mac… Yikes come on Activision. I know you don’t give a crap about Macs anymore but soon people will just stop buying anything from you period. If it really is just Sky Temple…ummm remove it from rotation until figured out?? I mean what is that like one click on the server?

I am also having this issue. Please address it so that we can play this game without guaranteed leaver status.

Sky Temple map crashes MacBook Pro (late 2019 model 16,1) with AMD Pro 5500M. Switching graphics settings to to low seems to work but one must very fast to do so after rejoin before the game crashes (again).

However this still doesn’t solve everything because performance is abysmal even on low settings despite game works quite well on other maps with high settings.

10.15.4 is out! Does it solve the issue?

UPD: Tested Sky Temple custom game. Alas, the crash is still happening.

Same issue: as soon as the gates open the system crashes

UPD 2: This has been going on since October, and is a serious issue. We need a solution, not a workaround.

We have received some reports for similar issues, caused by the same issue, in StarCraft II (same game engine) as positive so far with the 10.15.4 update. For those experiencing the crashing or graphical issue, does the latest Catalina help with the issue? This should have pushed a new graphics driver update as well.

How about with the Sun Temple and other maps that cause issues?

Let us know if it persists after the 10.15.4 updates. We are monitoring and tracking your reports and greatly appreciate them  Thanks again!

Hello, the issue is still present.

Here is my setup:
iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017)
3,6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 560 4 GB

Sometimes it just closes the game, but most of the times it restarts my pc.
Here is the report:

Same issue here. Multiple OS reboots on Sky Temple today. Crash before gates open, and crash immediately after rejoining game. Same thing also happened to me on March 17 which caused me to take a break from the game since I was unable to rejoin and ended up giving up.

This is however still on macOS Catalina 10.15.3.

Hey, gekko513! This is still on our team’s radar, but updating to 10.15.4 should help with the kernel panic and reboot issues. There’s still crashes and freezing issues on this build that our team is looking into.

For sky temple crashes in particular, check that the Shaders are set to Medium.

Not sure what parts of the issue has been addressed so far. Just had a Sky Temple shown up on QM, the game halted as the gate opens, (much like cmd-tab), and then the game randomly crashed without much hints. I was able to rejoin, and possibly re-adjust the settings, it just didn’t occur to me at the time that only the kernel panic has been addressed.

That being said, I didn’t see kernel panics from Sky Temple anymore. macOS 10.15.4, same specs as above. Just the game crashes, alone. Does setting shaders to medium remedy also work on this?

It should still workaround the issue, Rian. If it’s continuing to crash with the Shaders set to medium, please let us know.

As the tittle suggest, every time i get matched in Sky temple, the game crashes and some time crash the mac; i’ve never had this problem before, but since november this keep happening, i’ve lost almost all my sky temple matches cause of this, and in the latest patch note i see no current fix for this issue

Hey! Same issue here ever since I upgraded to Catalina. Running 10.15.5. After reading this thread I will try to set shaders to medium next but hope that you guys can figure out a fix. Lost a lot of matches to this and it’s a HUGE PAIN to have to reboot 5 times and quickly restart HOTS to not get leaver status… only to have the game crash again… rinse and repeat. Please fix this or remove Sky Temple… Even got a warning mail from Blizzard about an AFK warning due to this. Not fun. Rant over. Looking forward to a fix for this!!

ok so the game is still crashing on sun temple when everything are set on ultra and shader and set on ultra
( reduce shader on medium DOES SOLVE the problem but why would I dumb it down because of the software issue ? )

I just reinstalled HOTS after not playing for a few years. I played a few vs. AI and it was fine, but as soon as I loaded a QM game, it crashed as the map loaded. Each time I sent the report to blizzard and tried to rejoin the same game, it crashed again. I thought something might be wrong with that match, so I waited a while for it to end, and started a new one, same thing.

Neither of those matches were in Sky Temple. Is this the same bug?

I know this is an old thread, but posting because the issue is still present. Same issues on the same map (Sky Temple) as everyone else even with some of the best hardware from Apple. I’ve also had to turn down all of my settings because something is causing my temps to spike to 85-95C and thats with my fans running at max RPM.

I have the same issue.

The problem still exists today and the only solution is for Mac players to lower their shaders quality to medium because of one map?!

So all our games have to be in medium quality because Blizzard cannot make a fix to lower shaders in that map automatically until the root cause has been found?

Why not take the map out of rotation until it has been fixed?!
