I was poking around through Qhira’s voicelines, and I found this oddity:
That’s a kill quote for Brightwing. Why? It’s not even a generic one, it’s straight-up called “NexusHunterBase_KillBrightwing00.ogg”.
My best guess is that it’s going to tie into this supposed Deathwing Brightwing skin that people have seen in AI mode. Given we have other hints that seem to point to Deathwing being the hero at Blizzcon, we might get a tie-in with Deathwing, Qhira, and Iresia.

But if we get a Deathwing skin for Brightwing, how will people tell Brightwing and Deathwing apart?!?
Does this mean Deathwing confirmed to NEVER be added to HotS???

Yeah, screenshots please! I play a lot of AI, and I don’t remember ever seeing any “Deathwing Brightwing”…
Anyway, why would you assume BW can’t be a priority target unless she’s dressed up as DW? Maybe it’s just a joke about how very evil she is (are there other files, like “NexusHunterBase_KillBrightwing01.ogg”? maybe that could help put it in context)
I’m cautiously optimistic. ETC is by far not the only hero with “just in case” voicelines for heroes who haven’t been added (Tyrande having voiceline files for Shandris was mentioned often on the games early days, as was Nova with Mengsk (not sure which one))

This as far as I can tell is just a rumour. It’s probably fake, but I see it get mentioned quite often. However, the weird kill line lends some credence to the idea.
She doesn’t have any other quotes for Brightwing, but she does have a very large number of specific hero kill quotes (makes sense, considering the bounty hunter thing). She has quotes for Deckard, Blaze, Chromie, Brightwing, Hanzo, Maiev, Malthael, Varian, Orphea, Stukov, and Tracer. She also has generic quotes for dragons, angels, demons, “beasts” (currently unused AFAIK), Overwatch heroes, terrans, evil heroes, and good heroes.
All that said, Brightwing’s is the only weird one of that list. The majority are puns, comments on her marks, or throwing catchphrases back.

Unlikely. Seeing how Baal was in leaks long before Deathwing after they confirmed no Deathwing after the Alpha. Also makes a lot more sense for a hero like Baal.
We need both, Brightwing has that strange monkey skin thing and only some slight mods, more Brightwing skins and bring on Deathwing!
Probably because brightwing is a healer, so eliminating her would be priority. For all we know it plays when she kills other healers too.
Interestingly, she has greeting quotes for more people from her realm, as well as very unfriendly greeting quotes marked “sister”
That was my first thought, too. However, it would be a bit weird for a generic quote to be organized as a Brightwing quote. I’d have to test in-game whether the quote actually plays. It may very well be fully unused at the moment.
That I assume (I hope) is only deep planning. Given that they don’t even have actual recorded lines, I assume it’s just bases being covered. Fingers crossed that Blizzard wasn’t BSing in the recent AMA when they said there’s actually honestly no new Nexus heroes being worked on.
The reason the Brightwing one sticks out to me is the frequency for heroes to have special interactions with content that is unrelated but coming soon, so organizing voicelines is easy. Anduin has special interactions with Qhira, for example.
I can see the outrage in the forums when BWing the Destroyer gets released as a “special skin” for BlizzCon and no sign of the real DWing anywhere.

Not that I don’t want people to get death wing. But how is a hint for a BW deathwing skin also a hint for a Deathwing release?
It doesn’t seem logical that they’d do both.
My guess is that it’s a tie-in with WoW’s 15-year anniversary. Data miners have already posted Lil’ Deathwing pets and a Deathwing mount in the data files, so my guess is that Blizzard will tie that in with HotS.
Whether that means Deathwing as a hero, or merely skins, I don’t know. They’ve gutted the HotS team down to a barebones maintenance crew, drastically slowing down their new art and other content releases. I’m skeptical, but anything’s possible.
