Heroes of the Storm PTR Patch Notes - November 14, 2024

Still wont make him broken so thats fine.

It’s not the duration which makes it strong. The closest thing to this new talent is DVA’s hit the nitrous talent, which adds a micro stun on collision. By default the boost only displaces the victim from their position which does not always result with interruption of all channeled abilities.

HTN will not enable you to cover a more significant distance in a straight line either and will at most allow you to avoid a couple of melee swings while the bodies around you are stunned. The talent is at 50% overall across modes and 55%+ pick rate in ranked. It’s not that other two options are completely useless, this one is so much more useful for a reason and the pseudo interrupt gives you agency so you’re no longer only a fat target dummy.

I don’t believe the increase to silence duration makes any difference because the basic function has a plethora of uses already. However I am hearing that the second swing of Frostmourne trait does not interrupt so at least it frees up some follow up talent choice rather than pigeonholing the player into the melee option completely.

Before you continue screaming that I’m overreacting and that the new talent is useless, imagine how much worse DVA would be without an on-demand interrupt. It’s not literally game breaking but has nearly all the same applications I have listed for Arthas and is one of the small things which makes her decent and satisfying to play.

Nevertheless it is a significant upgrade over the slow which kind of sucked because you already have frost aura and a root. Most importantly, no matter how much all of you may disagree with me I am looking forward to the adjustment and am very excited. I expect landing a well-timed interrupt will feel very rewarding and when it comes to reworks, this is so much better than applying only basic numbers tuning to an unpopular hero.

Can gates count as walls again? Playing Diablo used to be a lot more fun when I could stun heroes when shadow charged into gates. Now, they just bounce off.

Why are ppl getting upset about the background art being AI

AI has been involved in the creation of the “remasters” of Warcraft 1 & 2 and now for Warcraft 3 Reforged 2.0. Not only the background arts, but also for the games themselves, with their textures.

It’s quite sad, especially because that 2.0 has been datamine for weeks ago and people were starting to have high expectations especially when we knew it would also be the 30th years anniversary of the Warcraft’s franchise… and what we get in return ? AI slop, with minimum investment and a focus on Warcraft 1 & 2 that i’m certain most people don’t really care at all. It’s not really what i consider respecting their franchise.

Personaly i was expecting a full rework on the main menus to not get that frustrating feeling that it could comes from a smartphone App + a remodeling of all the models in the game to fit more like the original designs (exactly like in the few concept art screenshots they leaked by error on their website and removed right after).

For what it’s worth I’m personally more interested in the 1 and 2 remaster as I never played them and have no idea what happens in those two. Unfortunately perhaps it’s the same for most others and therefore more money is to be had there and therefore more focus from developers will go there.

Well, i think they could have used Warcraft 3 to remake those campaigns on good shapes, currently there are fans who are working hard to do that (using Reforged assets) and what they did is similar in quality to what blizzard pledged to do (but of course, didn’t) with the original War3 campaigns, with cinematic where you see characters talking to each other, moving their head, walking instead of running etc…

Personally i’m far more interested by War3 because they have undeads and night elves, i’m not really fan about humans and orcs. Moreover War3 is the best thing for custom maps, people were providing ton of good ideas and i want this to be restored.

Because its shows that Blizzard have no authentic artists left to make a picture with thier own hands and not have AI make it for them.

Same goes for real life drawings vs AI drawings. You can find alot of pictures on the internet now that someone had AI making it instead of having talent to draw it themself.

You would not want real artists with real talent to be replaced by AI. There are no soul or love in AI pictures.

It’s no secret that blizzard barely had anything to do with the reforged for the second time around so the disappointment is well warranted. It’s why stuff feels and looks off putting. It’s all in the game credits.

As for the the players being angry and the whole argument that you’ve had 20 years to enjoy the game which you have paid only once for, the current version is very much a downgrade in many ways with a few small exceptions; widescreen support and user firewall removal.

Instead of having what was a near perfect product with a size of 3gb has now turned into an abomination of almost 40gb. I’m not a big fan of D4 but at least it had smaller install option if you chose to exclude ultra hd textures. This is nothing but bloatware.

Yes it’s absolutely boring to hear that, in fact that’s how Grubby is thinking right now and i don’t share that point of view at all. I think he didn’t have any great expectations for War3 so he is easily pleased by a patch that is granting new contents without twisting too much the original game and so he accepts this. I also think he is in touch with people working on Reforged and doesn’t want to criticize too much (many of the 2.0 ideas are ideas he has delivered in some videos.

Okay War3 had free content all along but it has also condionate people’s minds to love Wacraft’s franchise and so to finally play their MMORPG with monthly fees subscription.

The only thing i really wanted was higher resolutions for the original game, i didn’t really want the new skins and those 40gb. With Reforged they totally wasted the opportunity to revive the game. But of course i guess you cannot really monetize such a thing …

To forward things to here, PTR was updated again today. Stuff changed some more. Balance related things are first in this list for easy comparison.

Arthas

  • Frost Strike
    • Slow from Live restored, 1 second Silence now applies if hitting someone Slowed by this with Death Coil
  • Frostmourne Feeds
    • Reworked: When Frostmourne Hungers hits a Hero, gain a second hit with Frostmourne Hungers for 4 seconds. Frostmourne Hunger’s cooldown starts from then, instead of from the second hit being used. Sorta like Lightning Barrage on Alarak

Varian

  • Demoralizing Shout
    • Cooldown reduction increased from 1% to 2.5%
    • Cooldown reduction now applies to Demoralizing Shout and Parry, instead of just Parry

Imperius

  • Wrath of the Angiris
    • Damage from 210(375 on Live, btw) to 250

Samuro

  • Mirror Image
    • Will now copy Samuro’s state for Activated Critical Strike, Advancing Strikes, and Deflection when created and when Samuro swaps places with a Mirror, including the remaining duration. Live only copied if they were there, granting full duration
  • Press the Attack
    • Fixed a PTR issue causing it to not apply correctly to Mirror Images
    • Fixed a PTR issue causing it to not display in the Buff bar
  • Bladestorm
    • Can now be activated directly after casting Mirror Image, instead of the ability being briefly disabled(as on Live) or automatically cancelled(as on PTR before this patch PTR patch)

Orphea

  • Overflowing Chaos
    • Fixed a PTR issue with causing this to not deal damage

Junkrat

  • Dirty Trickster
    • Works with cooldown reset in Try Mode and Sandbox

Fenix

  • Unconqured Spirit
    • Works with cooldown reset in Try Mode and Sandbox

Cassia

  • Charged Strikes
    • Fixed a PTR issue causing the triggering spread with Titan’s Revenge also selected to grant Healing with Ring of the Leech also selected

Rexxar

  • Unleash the Boars
    • Fixed a PTR issue causing it to not hit enemies

Lt. Morales

  • Trauma Trigger
    • Works with cooldown reset in Try Mode and Sandbox

Johanna

  • Indestructible
    • Works with cooldown reset in Try Mode and Sandbox

thanks for the updates.

If any devs are around, might I suggest also letting death coil silence rooted enemies? I like the new functionality a lot but it can be hard to tell when an enemy is slowed sometimes.

Plus this would give Arthas a cool ranged CC combo to use against heroes who can just escape roots. It would also prevent an awkward interaction with his level 20 sindragosa upgrade where the ult loses its ability to slow until after the root ends. (a couple talents also work like this to)

Also the talent doesn’t seem to be working quite yet and varian’s demoralizing shout doesnt reduce cooldowns when summons deal damage (idk if that one is intentional tho).

So I think I need to clarify, as my wording maybe wasn’t the best, the Silence is only from the Frost Strike Slow, not any Slow, and it doesn’t remove it when applying the Silence.

Summons dealing damage isn’t consistent with a lot of things, like Defense Matrix won’t reduce the damage of Summons, but they’ve actually gradually been getting updated to support Defense Matrix and stuff like this, like Li Li’s Cloud Serpent was updated in this patch, and so too is Rexxar’s Unleash the Boars.

I tried frost strike’s slow as well but that didnt work either.

Oh, yeah, there’s currently a few issues with some of the stuff in those notes. I initially edited them out cause I didn’t want people to get confused, like Lt. Morales Trauma Trigger had a weird change where it now triggers from taking damage while below 50% health, instead of 40%, and there’s also a problem with Samuro’s Press the Attack.

I just fell back to looking at tooltips for assuming what it’s meant to be.

Had to go back and reread the talent again and your right, that is how it should work.

Now it feels like a clunky way to nerf the talent. You can still do a silence after every D, now you just have to also Q them. I’m not even sure this nerfs it all that much anyway.
Your also only 1 second off of being able to silence with the second swing of D if you try and build for it. Which is fine but aaaaah, so close : p

Conceptually overpowered ability which no one here considered useful to begin with now has a two step trigger because the devs are afraid it might be too strong?

They’re making it unnecessary impractical to use and along with it 16 - Embrace Death becomes significantly less attractive because you will not want to cast Coil on yourself if you have already picked silence on tier 13.

Everything aside, Arthas will start feeling much more mana starved than before because you’ll want to preserve the silence in case someone randomly swings around by not wasting the cooldown on minions for a mana return

…or in other case we end up delaying precious casts in order to capitalize on the talent, which renders previous talent choices that much less useful. In a world where other heroes have talents that speed up cooldowns, Arthas is going backwards. Your already miserable waveclear is impacted because you are holding off D and you’re thinking twice on who to cast Coil at. It’s no longer a priority kill target or yourself for maximum value.

The original idea sounded cool but this watered down iteration doesn’t make me want to pick it up at all with how much it affects personal moment to moment decision making. Overall it feels very restrictive and unfun, which is much worse that the starting point of the attempted revamp.

Wtf are those Varian notes?

Since he needs to walk up to you to use it, and he has no mobility, I think it would be fine.
The only people who will complain are those who keep walking up to an Arthas.

Y dat karacter keep silencin me?!!
