I’m over it now, but I am very careful to not let it happen again. There’s really only one poster on these boards who goes out of their way to openly harass me but I just ignore them because I see no value in what they post.
All I can say is this, if it gets to the point where the forums are affecting your mood, step away from them before the damage becomes permanent.
It felt like a piece of my identity died when I left the program, but I’m glad I did and it was better for me in the long run.
Just remember this, on the other end of every response you type is another person with thoughts, feelings, and emotions just like you. When you discuss things here, keep it strictly about the merits of the ideas presented, and not about the individual poster. It can be hard, but just don’t respond to the trolls and they’ll get tired and go away.
You never know what kind of day, week, month, or even year the poster on the other end has had, and kindness goes a long way toward fostering a better community for all of us.
That may sound cliche, but it’s true.

The green certainly made the targets easier to blame/scapegoat esp since the lust for blue attention was fixed on the next ‘best’ thing (greens) However, the sort backlash of that behavior does look for other targets since the common reaction to vitriol on the forums just looks to assume that people that don’t share the complaint must have something ‘wrong’ with them, be it an actual malady, or simply having a job. That’s part of why shill/npc and similar lombastment get tossed at several posters, esp if there’s something visible ‘unique’ that people can use to fault the poster – such as a high post count.
A lot of jobs see the same issue in ‘real life’, and it just hurts the service industry that many have to ‘cope’ with such garbage, and aren’t given much incentive to do so except out of necessity, optimism, or passion for the thing at hand.
Part of the sad thing, to me, is that many groups do employ ‘shills’ for fake reviews or positive feedback, and the sort of volatile posters that harass others have no clue how to tell the difference. They’re sad, angry bundles of unawareness that keep on hoping that faulting any and everything will magically make them better, and they just ruin everything else around them instead.

Am I just getting too old, or does nobody else remember DJPea and Hailfall?
They don’t have a presence here, but on the old platform they posted daily.
Those were fun folk, although the latter was very controversial.
I don’t even remember why he/she was. Something to do with constant nerf/buff requests I think.
The old forum isn’t archived anywhere so this is just from pre-2018 memory.

I still remember DJPea. And I still miss him.
Hailfall… Welp, did you forget he was posting here kinda a lot too before leaving?

Oh, I can’t remember him/her posting here. Guilty of fuzzy memory too, then.
I just remember Hail got upset about something and left.
Dj pea leaved the forum and Hailfail left in summer casue he said he dont fit in here. No one takes him serious with his valeera threads or other topics he made
So he leaved as he dont think he fit together with us.
If it means anything to you fellow Frog, you are one of the decent reasonable posters on the forum in my opinion. If you quit the forum is one step closer to troll anarchy.
There are of course many others too. But if too many reasonable members quit, there will be no reason to read the forum any more. Then we must go into reddit to read real discussions.
Otherwise, we only have those 1-20 post who flame and act toxic. There is no more community after that. Just a wilderness of orcs and trolls grunting profanities.

The real problem here is, that no one is cleaning up when those “0-Post-Noobs” with their Bronze-Vision and unteachable behaviour appear again.

I wish Sami was able to be a moderator of this place…

You can’t do this to him. He had so much trouble with all the bigoted forum posters it inflicted him IRL. It is the job of Blizzard to keep the forum free of those aggressors who spread fake information and destroy the forum community.

What a bummer man. Wish you luck on your life, come once in a while on the meme thread so at least you can get a cringe laugh.
Wish you luck in your real life and if you dont mind a little piece of advice from an older fella:
- Online forums always devolve into drama
- The internet is not real
- Keep the good friends you find in it
Best of luck for you God bless
I know.
I was meaning it would be good if he was a moderator before whole that mess and before he got all that damage from forums.
Now it’s too late.

Are people really that hurt when people say mean words? Death threats are an exception as who knows what computer nerds can do on the internet and find out where you live, but swearing and yelling shouldn’t really hurt you. Like literally someone told me to “shut up” on the forum. It’s no different from ragers in game. All I ask is you do well in game. You can cry, moan, and be angry, but just finish the game first and type a little less if possible. On the forum since we’re not playing a game and typing won’t affect my rank, you can rage at me all you want
And yes before you crucify me I know Sami got death threats
People could learn a lot from these two. No need for a 30 page week long going out tour.
You aint saying goodbye forever to a loved one. You stepping away from a video game forum.
Tbh even I know that the bonds some forum goers have between each other are like friend-like stuff. I guess I’d feel sad if the last time I already saw my friend was past. A lot of missing forum goers are on a discord so I really don’t think it’s that bad
Yes, every once in a while, it can be shrugged off. But when it’s constant day in and day out for weeks on end it wears you very thin.
