10 things low ranks people do that are bad

  1. No cheese, where is stitches gorge? Where is the rexxar doing the boss at 7 on braxis, where is the varian +ming+tyrande you can do it!

  2. Forcing people to play a role they dont understand
Rightclick their profile, see what they play. Check their winrate, let them play that. If they already picked something bad, make up an excuse to change
They have a onetrick, or we need more waveclear/campclear

  3. Aggressive tone
Nobody wants to carry a toxic player, just be nice. It lowers morale

  4. Going to a objective without mana
If your low ping your mana alt, leftclick, mana its that simple
Just hearth in time or skip the objective if you are low

  5. No synergy in draft
This one is obvious, I know its hard but at least pick something that your team lacks
If your ally is weak against dive you pick something that can peel or pressure

  6. Endlessly doing a opening clash
Its not aram, go and soak

  7. Camps, just spam them unless your a micro god, you win the games by macro

  8. Splitting up late game
Early game you soak and do objectives late game you hug each other and never let go unless agreed upon. Dont go for solo adventures. If you die it just snowballs into a GG

  9. Never go in, I know you can fancy dodge an skillshot, but why dont go you in and duel the enemy? You can do more then you think.
Also I seen healers be backline like its the HGC 2018 championship, dont do that, you can use your body to go in aggressive, maybe take a hit for your tank and try to outplay the enemy. Nobody wins games by having the lowest stats possible

  10. You never visited the Vault of Guides

Do not give up a wave of soak to solo a merc camp. You always want to make sure someone covers a lane if you have to leave it to do the camp. [Also, make sure you get the xp from minions where the camps will be pushing.]

Worst case scenario I rather have them losing exp then not doing the camp.
The advantage of a siege camp or turrets is so good. And it gives exp

In the gold leagues people do camps just 10s before the objective and then arrive late.

  1. Insta-pick the meta talents, always without question. Although there are some heroes that basically only have one build, know what your talents do, and when to pick a different talent. For example, if they have a Genji, Reverse Amp can kill your whole team. If they have a Mei, Shattering Throw forces her to play much more passively, or just die.

Especially in lower ranks! A wins a win. Also a competent abathur is way better in low ranks then people give it credit for to.

This! Also on a similar note, don’t be afraid to pick wierd heroes that have never been meta if you can play em. Everyone knows what hogger and gazlowe do but you take a probius or mephisto in to a game, not everyone is even going to have the experience to deal with you.
Everyone gets so caught up on the meta that really, if you’ve just got your bases covered, your good.

Also this. Its just as much a mental game as it is a skill one.

The only reason you should be staying past the initial burst at all is quests but ive seen teams that keep fighting even when they have nothing to gain from it.

Shameless plug :stuck_out_tongue:

Pick a Hero that is supposed to be strong or op that they can’t play.

See it quite a lot where someone first picks a character that is supposed to be strong, you think they have made a strong pick and then they go and perform abysmally with said hero.

  1. If you can’t play tank but are forced to pick one nevertheless, always pick the worst or most niche one (Stitches or Arthas).

another one, do not waste time on a camp in the same lane as the objective, it will probably just get easily cleaned up and not push the lane that much

no do NOT do that, do a simple but still decent or good tank, like garrosh. or malganis, or ETC.

How many smurfs do you have with the same name dude, and why?
Do you enjoy stomping noobs?
And why post here on 6 diffirent accounts why not use your main?

You would think people stop doing this after gold league, but no, they still fight in the middle for 10 minutes.

Are there over soakers as well? cause both teams are over level 20 and one guy tells us “don’t fight, soak” We all question him and he says “because we’ll have more damage” …did he want us to hit level 30 before our next team fight?

There sure are. I will never understand those people who still soak at lv 21 or 22. Not pushing back a lane, just soaking.

They misunderstood what soaking is.

All solid, logical and fair points there Ana. The only problem I see is some of those points contradicting each other.

We agree, it’s optimal for everyone to play their best role and/or hero. A problem can often arise is by doing this you can end up with a draft that lacks the synergy you suggest. The other problem is, what happens if I fill heals (for example) on a healer that isn’t optimal for taking camps? I may ask or hope my team will take a hero and take the camps when needed, but that doesn’t always happen.

This is why I mostly climbed out of Silver and Gold with (old) Stitches/Sonya/Dehaka and Ragnaros. I could either punish positioning mistakes with Stitches, or know as Sonya and the rest that I could take camps, be potent in team fights and double soak if the rest of my team wasn’t.

So that’s the only conundrum I see, otherwise a really grounded guide for climbing.

No synergy and forcing people a role they dont understand isnt that big of a contradiction

If someone is forced to play mage but is a bad mage, can play AA heroes, you give him a hero that deals spell dmg like sylvanas tassadar cassia or maybe even alarak. Just use the formula for every match

If your team can’t take camps quickly (Garrosh, Yrel, Abathur, Deckard and Mephisto), then your team is designed to camp invade 24h/7.

  1. No one soak.
  2. No one depush.
  3. Fight without 10-13-16-20.

Learning hybrid heroes is great for this. Especially Uther who can tank, main heal, and hold the solo lane as an off heal. : p
