Update on Weekly Quests

“Perhaps you feel you are being treated unfairly”

“I have already altered the deal, pray I do not alter it further”

I use this quote for RP in WoW on VaderSkywalker the Demon Hunter

So even after the adjustments of weekly quests feels like a scam. Doubling the effort of completing the quest yet the additional reward is on average less than 33% of the previous reward, while the win 10 ranked matches quest has an additional of 20% extra xp. Give us double the xp for every quest that you doubled the requirements and we can talk.

They would’ve changed it back by now if people just stopped playing their RNG clownshow.

3 days without a post, don’t see much complaining, guess it’s time to uninstall.

Love the bs excuse ridiculoushat gave about further tuning, they could’ve just reverted the changes, screw this company.

I uninstalled the game with 160k+ dust on 3 regions, after 75 months of near continuous play. The weekly quest grind increase was the nail in the coffin. I also unsubscribed on all Hearthstone channels, farewell.

This game is no longer f2p friendly.

Yes, it is.

The event is called Double Trouble & that’s what they tried to do with the quests.

It would take a little longer, but you would get more in the way of rewards.

If you’re f2p, then how do you figure that Blizzard owes you anything?

Take a good look at those first and last sentences, folks.

Because that’s the attitude the company has towards the playerbase, and it shows in the outright contempt they show towards those who keep their metrics up (a fact lost on them and their supporters).

Because if every pure f2p player quit today, the game wouldn’t last through the week after that happened.

I want to add a voice in the opposite direction. In the past I’d complete the weekly quests on day 1 or 2 maximum 3, and I’m quite a casual player. Maybe just 3 or 4 games per day. After that, no matter how much I play I don’t get any benefits. Zero.

Now, I can take up to days 5 and 6 to complete the quests and I get more XP. So it benefits me by giving me 33% more xp without having to do anything more than what I used to do.

You get XP per game played. Admittedly an insignificant amount. But that is the point. They could ditch weekly quests completely and instead just reward game time directly with that system already in place. They could also have introduced tiered weekly quest rewards or think of other ways to reward engagement without gatekeeping rewards behind increased (100%!!!) requirements.

Still, they opted for threatening certain players to lose rewards they have been getting for the last years and for missing out on reward track experience AFTER players bought into the tavern pass.

And no. For the people leaving the game because of this change, it is not about how easy it is for you personally to still complete quests. Also this is not about entitlement of players, because it is not the players that suddenly voice they should be getting more rewards. It is about what option Blizzard picked in their alleged way to increase player engagement. And while that may be part of their real intention, the way they acted here (including use of the door-in-the-face technique) clearly legitimates doubt.

Also you should not fall so blindly for the increased rewards bait. They moved numbers around. Part of this moving is economy-wide in that some players miss out for others to gain “more”. While that might suit you personally, you still you should ask yourself if you want to actually DEFEND this move.

But you also may want to inspect and evaluate that “more” part. What did they do to achievements beforehand? What is the reward now for completing a set? Where did the reward previously given out for that move to? How do these compare? What is the actual “gain” per reward track cycle and what is the potential loss?

If you reflect on that, really have a personal (actual) gain from it while also being fine with players potentially losing rewards (and do not just think in scope of single weeks here… think about on/off-play patterns and what the increased requirements may mean for more intermittedly engaged players) - then yes… I guess I have to be fine with you defending their decision. Just remember, that voicing for changes like these might make the day of the next “bean counter decision” come a little earlier. I sincerely hope for you, that then it won’t be the one that makes you leave (without really wanting to).

But it objectively IS more than you used to do.

You even describe yourself how the time it took you to complete these quests as a casual player DOUBLED.

contrast with

Minimum, double the time investment should get double the reward.

Still no update or any more correspondence on weekly quests, I see. Blizzard hoping we forget with the giant meta patch.

Many people predicted this will happen.
Well, I just do my part by not spending any $$ in Blizzard shop.

I am also expecting they will nerf the quest rewards back with the option to buy the boost with runestones.

Third week in a row I’m rerolling these damn quests
There will be no acceptance or concessions from the player community.

If you are rerolling and completing the quests that is your effective acceptance and concession

I have been playing since launch and buying preorders and some cosmetics since Witchwood, but last year’s meta was not much fun for me 80% of the time. I decided to stick around at rotation since the new set looked fun, but this quest change and the current meta has caused me to stop purchasing for the meantime.

Since Blizzard understands “anchoring”, my demand to get my business back is for all removed game modes to be restored and actively supported, rehire all laid-off Blizzard employees, nerf Brann to 35 mana, and make the weekly quests easy enough to complete that I can do them accidentally by opening the collection manager. If that seems like I “missed the mark”, then I will accept the full reversion of weekly quests to the base level as a compromise.

Surely this will be reverted to the original here soon.

They were clearly meant to coincide with the event.

They will probably go away when the event ends.

Just because I reroll and still play doesn’t mean I accept compromise with you guys.
There are some quests I can still play, of course only when I have time, and the number is only about 1 or 2 such ones
I don’t believe you won’t convert to the original or do something better when you see such strong opposition and boycotts.

I think you may just be joking at this point but I am uncertain. Rerolling quests and continuing to play is neither strong opposition nor a boycott

I mean the general situation of the majority of players in the community, not just me. Personally, I dislike them, but not to the point of being negative enough to uninstall the game and stop playing like many others
I am a F2P, often play BG and with my ability, 10 win BG games or 100 battlecry minions is still possible to achieve in a week.
I also play Ranked Mode, but it’s limited, usually only 5-10 matches/week for 5 wins. So quests like 10 Ranked wins or 32 Minis cards… are unacceptable and I firmly refuse them.
