So tired of people dragging a 5-10 minute game into a 30 minute one. The rope needs to start burning if they cannot take any actions, have any cards that can be played, or haven’t taken any actions for 30 seconds.
So you are saying that it’s okay to use my 75 second turn time if I think for 25 seconds, then play 1 card, think another 25 seconds, play the next card, then think for yet another 20 second before deciding to not spend the remaining mana.
But it is not okay for me to spend a full minute to plan out my entire turn, then quickly play the two best cards and pass the turn.
If you are bothered by opponents that need time to think, then open a second tab and do something else while you wait (but don’t forget to check the history bar on your next turn, to see what you missed).
And yes, there are people deliberately roping in the hope that you’ll concede. Depending on how you feel about rewarding that behaviour versus seeking your own fun, either concede and move on, or use that second tab strategy.
yes, it’s okay, but if you ain’t doing crap for 30 seconds, then quit it. Also people deliberately roping even though they literally can’t take any action, yes, they definitely need their turns to end.
i need to count lethal at time. And yes i take more than 30 seconds sometimes
and if you don’t have the mana to play any cards, and none of your minions can move? Why should you be able to waste people’s time “hoping they concede”?
How u differentiate? Unless the HS create a mechanism where if u are unable to play any cards in ur hand in this situation, end the turn. This will give rise to 2 issues.
One I may want to think of my next turn but you just end my turn arruptly so I won’t play cards until I think thru my next turn.
Two, it give ur opponent hand reading, he left 3 mana and the game end his turn, he don’t have card below that cost. Knowing his deck list you can guess he don’t have a certain card.
The game has a 75 second time limit for each turn. Even less for the first two (I think?) turns.
Yes, it is annoying when people abuse this rule. But just a minor annoyance, I simply go do something else (such as clearing out the dishwasher) while turning up the volume so I hear when I can play again.
I see no practical way to prevent this without hurting the people who actually just want to think their turn through.
And even if you find a way to stop this, people who want to abuse the rules will always find new ways.
Time everyone’s turns for a month or two, then play slow people against slow people and fast people against fast people. Everyone wins except jerks who just play slow to annoy fast people.
And people who like to play different decks.
Do minor tweaks. I suggest the turn ends a few seconds after there are no more moves (ie no mana and no cards to play).
Rope shouldn’t burn to prevent opponent from knowing you have no more play. It should just be like you ending your turn yourself.
Hmmm…why indeed…it got your little undead panties in a bunch. Had to run to the forums because someone won’t cater to your impatience…
I agree this is the biggest problem in Hearthstone. The best way to fix this would be to have a different play mode. You could have multi-player, solo, and a third mode that only allows 30 seconds per turn. People that need time or want to abuse (it’s mostly the later) can go to the regular multi-player. The people that are tired of the ridiculousness can choose the third mode. Everyone wins. Surely that is something that Blizzard could implement if they wanted.
I played against a guy in arena, his name was battleooze. He roped every turn. The game went into fatigue. The game lasted an hour. I won if he had any card besides obsidian statue or deathwing. He had one card left. It was obsidian statue. If your reading this I hate you.
P.S. ya I’m a little salty about it
No this would be terrible. It would give away information about your hand. I’ve seen this in other games and instantly my opponent knew I had that 1 buff card that costs 1 mana in my hand or that 1 minion that I’m holding back for its effect for a later round. You also have people with slow computers or phones (me for instance) that get their whole turn eaten up by animation effects when they try to play like 5 cards in a turn. I also can’t do the tavern brawl in under 40 minutes simply because my load screens and time it takes between each attack is simply just too much. But even on those odd days when my computer is working fairly quickly I tend to use atleast 15 seconds to think about my move, if you think I’m janky for doing that then put nozudormu in your deck.
This is why I never liked nozu and glad he never became a “Great” card other than when buged.
It only punishes those that are either handycaped (and yes they do play was a thread in solo on exactly this about that boss thats hero power is nozu). Plus those that cant play quick due to animations + bad comps. You can say they should get a better comp and sure thats true but blizzard wants the game acceptable so keeping something as basic as a turn timer constant not having a card to break it just makes sense.
As for the thread the turn timmers are fine there is no good way to do it without giving info to the other guy or punishing players that like to think. While not being still gameable by those that want to rope.
Any “fix” you make short of lowering the current turn timers can be bypassed by keeping a low cost card in your hand to give you options even if they end turn looks like the player ended it to not give info. As that low cost card would make it not end. While req you to make a play every x secs in a turn to keep it longer gives an unfair advantage to decks that have multi low cost cards. As they can stagger them to get additional time to plan vs high cost decks. Anything that gives a possible unfair advantage is bad.
The system I would personally like to see is a new game mode added. No change to the current. “timed”. Where like chess you have a “pool” of time. so lets say we expect the game to go on for 20 min for a avg game. Each player gets a pool of 10 min. when your turn is on your time ticks down. You can use all 10 min on your first turn if you want. Once you are out of time you only get 15 secs per turn from than on to make your turns. As such playing quick is encouraged so you can have time to think later as needed. While longer turns and more thought out turns are possible. This also gives interesting options such as allowing decks that make turns that take more time. Such as the wild snip snip deck having more time to spam out snip snips. Not the best example as an annoying deck but I have had other decks that where limited by turn timers before. This dose give some advantage to faster decks or decks that make “simpler” plays. But that is acceptable to me as the other mode is there for decks that don’t work in this format. By giving the option to players you create a fair way to do it. In this mode animations would play and finish before a turn swap happens so they use up your own time. As such they would need to be planned for and cant be used to bleed the other players time.
It’s really hard making a distinction between people who really needs the time to think and decide on the best play, and those who deliberately rope as a bad manners to annoy the opponent. It does detract from the fun of the game and makes it more hostile than it needs to be - a friendly game.
Blizz can probably create an algorithm to detect abuse, but I don’t think they will bother.
Deck tracker has a attack counter for the board. You just have to turn it on in settings.
EvilWarden: i know which card ppl run in their deck…i dont need to see current hand to know it eventually get play…the first or second card you play says what your entire deck is…in DH case we all know some of them run mana burn when they have a solid board to prevent their board from being clear or as a way to stop opponent from using certain card(example:priest with Zeref Clones Gallery) …the chance the spell is in their hand by then is pretty high so its easy to prepare a play ahead of it though its not rly possible for some decks and we’re force to take the dmg…in late game case we all know its saved for a specific card or if they feel force to play it earlier…in some case its not played to have backup board filling if an aoe is upcoming and thats a minion
here a good rule of thumb to think bout…opponent could fake holding something in hand so…its alway good to assume they have the card in hand and try to bait it out for safe play the card you want after…or you can play certain card to make a safe landing next turn…example: Spell binder(mage)… or that new 3 mana cloak giving ams to all minions(lovely when a scrapyard collosus get play on next turn and that big dude is on the board XD)…honestly that cloak is way more lovely than spell binder XD force opponent into playing a big aoe spell to get ride of it instead of a single target spell then after using the aoe they have no mana left to deal with the collossus :D…played on turn 9 with a Khartut Defender in case of a charge minion//weapons it retain safety from being removed if there no aoe involve…i do run 1 in my zoth priest and its hilarious when it pop in my Zeref Gallery along 1-2 collosus and some khartut
well i’am off topic but here deck list if you guys wanna try to poke some fun with it(remember dont keep the cloak in oppening hand)…will post their purpose too
EDIT OF THE DECK SINCE EARLIER…currently Diamond 3 with it…gonna try for Legend now…Shadow Ascendant replaced by Apotheosis(3 mana spell) for more stability with Zerek Gallery to spawn a deathrattle taunt…on a nice bonus note the spell lifesteal is rly handy vs aggro or late game if apply on a big minion
2X Northshire Clerics
1X Finley: purpose…screw up machine gun raza priest and other strong upgraded hero power
1X Grizzled Wizard: purpose…same as Finley as the 2 make 1 combo…ofc denying baku DH their hero power is also hilarious but not likely to be able to pull it off on them as they concede b4 you get the combo if you live long enough
2X Nerub’ar Weblord(work on a lots of decks…make battlecry deck users enrage :P) give it power feast and they can play nothing untill like turn 5-7 lol
2X Power Word: Feast:multi purpose…buff or healing…buff if vs aggro but better use as healing if going up againts value///fatigue
1X Apotheosis
2X Shadow Visions(its nice for double and almost guaranteed chance for Zerek Gallery early game…or getting extra defensive tools if you need base on opponent type
2X Lone Champions(explosive traps absorbant vs mage and solid tankers vs aggro)…that said i seen a few aggro mage evolve and get poly secret…sorta
make this guy useless if i come accross a poly secret mage :S
1X Mindrender Illucia(if you put her in your deck…better know exactly when to play her)…amusingly i yet to see raza priest use her againts this deck even though they seen the finley in my gallery b4 and thats in the diamonds ranks XD
then again if they play her b4 playing their anduin i just play their anduin myself if they got him in hand…so they have 2 opportunity to stop the combo…while they have neither raza or anduin in hand…or immediatly on the next turn of playing anduin to make sure i cant remove their hero power XD
1X Robes of Protections(to be evil to my opponents ofc make them waste their board clear for a scrap minion :P)
1X Mass Dispel
1X Spellbreaker
2X Mass Hysteria
2X Khartut Defender
1X Skulking Geist
1X Sylvanas Windrunner
1X Archbishop Benedictus(this 1 card right here is technicly optionnal but has a bit of potential…vs big priest…big pally…other big decks…vs mill and vs ppl shuffling extra card in their deck its nice…vs big deck you actually empower your own zerek gallery by playing him instead of dilluting as well as stealing their ressurect abilities cards
1X Psychic Scream(board clear or for silencing use)
1X Plagued Protodrake
1X Zerek’s Cloning Gallery(i dont think i need to explain this 1 use do i ? :P)
1X N’Zoth the Corruptor
IMPORTANT NOTES: do NOT keep finley and grizzled wizard in your opening hand as this deck main goal is to pull out quick Zerek Gallery…they both perform bad vs aggro or value deck in early games and you dont wanna gamble that your opponent is Raza Priest,Obelisk priest,
vs deck like raza priest you may wanna shuffle 3-4 garbo card in their deck(example geist)
just delay them from finding their anduin and Raza…since you lack strong drawing potential if you wanna buy time to find both finley and grizzled wizard and try to avoid them mass shuffling cards into your deck untill you find both finley and grizzled wizard
Note 3:swap Illucia for another card if you feel your not playing her well…that said its hilarious to “ctrl, alt, del” the opponent cards…and keep in mind…dont feed your opponent something that could kill you while you destroy their hand XD…in Bishop case you can remove him if you rather have more aggro defensives but you loose a lots of power againts big decks
I hate ropers, but they can’t do that as it would give away their hand.
But there are a few cards in my deck that I almost never play on curve. Kabal lackey and counter spell are just some examples. Sometimes I play the Kabal down with no secret if I want that extra 2/1 body to apply pressure, but it would give all kinds of information away like maybe that I don’t have any secrets. Counterspell is my other case example, you may know I have it in my deck but you have no idea if I’ve drawn it, I almost never play it on curve not only because people usually save their coin for it but also because some spells are more valuable to counter than others. I think you don’t understand what I’m saying at all tbh, I’d rather you didn’t know my hand based just on the fact of whether or not my turn ends right away or if I have to manually click a button.
