It’s like gambling. How much fun is there to be had when the opponent draws perfectly meanwhile i draw comically, insurmountably and obviously bad?
This is just the nature of card games in general. Sometimes your opponent draws good and you don’t. Deal with it, or leave.
That’s not to say you can’t be frustrated sometimes. Heck, today I had a game, where my opponent did: Turn 2 Groovy cat. Turn 3 Coin + Innervate + Construct Pylons + Artanis. Later he discovered a Coconut Cannoneer with godlike aim. I couldn’t remove it, because he also discovered an Annoy-O-Tron.
Do you see me opening a thread over this? No. The game isn’t bad for the soul. A lack of frustration tolerance is.
Perfect analogy on the “gambling” aspect. People in here trying to use words like strategy when playing this game are amusing. Pretending this is chess when, at its best, is blackjack.
We all have it. The speed at which it fills to overflow with this game, is absurdly fast.
Exactly. People on here love to use the word ‘piloting’ like they’re flying some complex machine - hardly the case. Strategy in this game exists in the same way it does in blackjack—you can make optimal choices, but if the cards don’t show up, you’re out of luck.
Yep, that’s basically it. Gambling without the need to gamble. You play by the odds, win and lose by them. Draw perfectly and you are happy, draw horribly and you are sad. We are junkies of emotions at this point, thats why we keep playing this.
You just have to practice and get good at drawing the right cards. Drawing poorly is considered a skill issue on these forums apparently.
Buddy, get over yourself.
Incidentally, this thread existing stopped me from making my own with the same sentiment.
Players usually have alot more agency than what they are aware of. A good start is knowing matchups and adpting mulligans. If the meta is good most decks can beat each other, and the better player wins (I am ofc talking about average games, not highrolls and lowrolls). Though, the meta has been disastrous for quite a time now
I agree!
Good and bad RNG average out over time. It’s no coincidance, that the same people are in the higher ranks every season. If it’s just random, we should expect different placements on the ladder for each player each season. Even the best player may play 5 games and lose 4. After 500 games he will have won more than 50%. That’s what counts.
Amen. Lol did i just verse you btw? U played frog shaman? If that was u , u owe me a new desk i broke mine
Or are u priest? I recognize that name!
Giving this one a hardcore dorking, I guess?
This thread was made immediately after losing to two warriors in a row, surely you guys can understand. I rebuke my statement. The thread is now an anti warrior thread.
It’s why I chuckle when people call this a “strategy” game. I could count on one hand the times I’ve seen someone actually play brilliantly. Almost every game is decided by whoever is the RNG welfare recipient. Then you get slobs emoting like they did something.
Worse, the app (on ANY platform) is third rate slop, it crashes every couple games and gives you the “don’t worry your game was recorded” nonsense.
Even when I win, at the point, Its hardly a “happy” moment. Its more of a " I expected that" moment. A “yep, that was exactly what I thought would happen”.
Okay, that’s something I can get behind. Even as a Warrior player myself, I think Boomboss Tho’grun is the worst card in existence. Being against anyone who plays it is perfectly fine with me.
Frog Shaman, and yes I think we have played recently lol
“Your sole shall be mine!”

LOL, name these people please?
