Rewards Track Client Patch

But you are imagining that they would use your figures.
What if I imagined that every win awards a flat 250XP
and every loss awards 125 or 130XP?
I’m sure the greed hounds of Blizzard would never allow that, but that is what I meant, though I explained it poorly by saying “level”
I would like to see a flat amount required to reach each level, that doesn’t increase with every level. Perhaps halfway through the amount required could increase once, and then after 50 maybe increase a nominal amount to a hard ceiling.
But, I would love to see a flat amount for wins and losses, instead of the XP amount being some arcane calculation tied to play time. To me that just encourages bots and ropers. What do you think?

You appear to be going in 2 different directions here.

Let me try to Steel Man you, while making this point.

  1. You want to change the XP gained in game, such that Aggro Druid players gain tons of XP, since they have lots of very short games.
  2. You want to change the XP required per level, such that from 1 to 50 they all require, say for the sake of argument 3,940 XP (which is the total XP required to get to level 50 divided by 50).

Is this right?

Yes, to a flat amount per win or loss.

Yes, to a flat amount that is clearly displayed on your screen so that players have an incentive to play.

Great.

My critique is only relevant to the second point.

In any case where a person doesn’t reach Level 50, under a flat XP change that person will end up in a lower level, and with less rewards. In my example a person would lose 10 levels worth of rewards.

Massive step backwards. Aggro decks/players earnt more than control decks/players under the old system, no need to go back to that. Not unless the hourly cap remains and can be achieved in 3 20 minute games. Then you will be upset at capping your hourly xp in 30 minutes.

Why would that be so? I’m not following.

And so you are saying there is no way to make it so that wins and losses receive a flat amount that is the same for everyone? I mean couldn’t rules be made that allow everyone to receive the same?

Level 40 Now: 119,300 XP

Level 40 Flat: 3940 X 40 = 156,960 XP

But why does your formula have to be the formula?
I still don’t see.

Not without an hourly cap. The new system is unbiased regarding deck choice, everyone receives the same xp/hour. Your system only further incentivises SMOrc. Yes, that is what I am saying. XP p/h is far better than xp/w(l) as everyone receives identical rewards for their time spent playing.

But don’t you agree that XP per hour only encourages bots and ropers?
It seems that way to me.

It isn’t my formula, it’s yours.

You agreed that all levels are equal.

Therefore to get the XP required to reach a level you multiply the number of levels times the XP.

So 50 levels. And if you require say 1000 xp per level (50000) then
award 400 XP per win and 200 per loss, that isn’t better?
I mean I know they would never do it, but how is that worse?

Absolutely. Actions made has been suggested in other threads to replace hourly xp, and thats a far better option imo as it doesnt benefit any archetype over another.

I’m not familiar, can you explain, please?

Cards played, attack made, hero powers used award an amount of xp.
Add a winners bonus so youre more rewarded for winning
Add an hourly cap of whatever so decks the generate and play stupid amounts of cards arent at an advantage

Done deal

It’s an interesting idea. I would love to see a model.

You already have seen that model. Its whats used while leveling your heroes to 60.

You mean 60 in the current system? Because if that is it, then I think it’s awful, lol.

Swampy means when you originally leveled up each individual class to level 60 (the process that gives you the golden versions of the cards from the basic set and opened up Arena etc. when you hit level 10 on all classes).

Not level 60 on the new reward track.
