This was the only format I really loved. I know people say it was solved or whatever, but I still really enjoyed making different decks and having access to all the cards.
I loved the simplicity of it; it was relaxing and fun for me. I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy this game as much as I did playing Classic.
I understand the business doesn’t want a mode that doesn’t incentivize never-ending pack buying, but I just wanted to at least voice my wish somewhere.
I played the last season of classic specifically to get the legend achieve before it disappeared.
I made a basic zoo lock deck and went on a 50+ win streak to legend without playing a single human opponent the entire streak.
Classic was deader than dead and it should stay that way.
That said, you can do everything in wild that you could do in classic except constantly match into bots. The bots are broken up with a few humans sprinkled in now, but that shouldn’t be an issue. Just concede to the human opponents and you will get that fresh hearthstone classic feel again.
I bet it was infested with pure netdecking at this stage. This is the biggest problem of metas that have no new releases. People will gravitate to the best handful of the netdecks to the point of ending up with 2 or 3 of them max.
And then you might learn one of them well to the point of not thinking about how you play (which is not hard in powerless/simple-classic), and that’s where it becomes really dull because the opponent becomes the RNG.
Then why does chess have unchangeable pieces for thousands of years and still remain one of the most interesting and popular games in the world? If the game has balance, and in the classic format it does, then updates are not at all necessary. In the classic format, despite not such a large number of cards, there is also an opportunity for deckbuilding, to create new archetypes. The minimal amount of randomness makes this mode skill-dependent. Hearthstone classic is the best thing that has ever been in this game, I demand this mode to return.
Chess is extremely more complicated, “per round”. It’s like being able to make decks but every single deck is drawn in whole every single round and you can only play 1 card at a time.
By the way that’s not a terrible idea for a new Format. “ChessHearthstone”.
I think it was already discussed at some point… Moreover, even serious attempts at delivering ‘nEw CoNtEnT’ to it have failed, for example, I’ve found this piece by me:
Haven’t readily found the post referred to in the previous paragraph yet, but in short, those self-annointed (sic) forum experts typically understand very little of the ‘meta’ — as usual, since they generally understand very little. By the way, conversing with some of them is probably your biggest mistake.
