Less trash on Mercenaries Please

I believe I’ve already written about such kind of ‘valuable’ contribution to a very specific topic — I suppose I’ll just link it here.

And traditional HS isn’t grindy? This one, at least, has the puzzle-solving element to it, instead of ‘this apple on your head’.

Yeah, forums and internets in general are full of ‘experts’, for whom everything is easy, on nearly every subject in the world. :smirk:

Nope, when released, it also had a lot of charm. Of course, subsequently there was this cycle of hype, hope and dissapointment, as others have noticed as well, bu that’s another story.

Actually, I used to avoid mystery nodes when the heroic Air Elemental was a thing, having eventually started farming tasks and the MS mostly during the Banehollow era. :grinning: Nevertheless, these are bygones.

I find it… interesting how people occasionally drop in with their ‘expert’ reviews (completely off-topic, by the way), based on their experience of playing the game for a couple of hours or days a year ago, and seem to believe this to be the ultimate truth in the universe. I mean, the mode has had problems for some time, these are being discussed by the community, but maybe one should talk about something that they know?

What a surprise! You can’t beat a heroic fight by dropping in random stuff and button-mashing, how unfair and wrong!!!

I’m not aware of a single bounty for which it would be true.

You wouldn’t believe it, but I’ve done it multiple times, sometimes testing this repeatedly (especially for some of the more difficult bosses) and picking the worst treasures or the blue portal on purpose.

Can you give an example of at least one boss that isn’t beatable consistently by a full-cost party without any meaningful treasures? Which one has given you such trouble?

Sure, if you pay me properly for making this content — you didn’t expect people to do work for free just for you, did you? By the way, alternatively, you can find a lot of existing guides there — admittedly, of various quality, but plenty of those you can work with as well.

What’s wrong, don’t like reading? :grinning:

Yes, it is good, unlike the ‘Memory is a stranger, history is for fools’ attitude that some would like to be mainstream. The point, however, is not the variance in personal memory capabilities: these kinds of mistakes are highly unlikey for someone who is very familiar with the mode — which is also fine, however, making bold and supposedly definitive statements about something that you don’t know that well is less fine, so to speak.

I wouldn’t bother right now.

For me, it’s been mostly the Classic nostalgia, for which I returned, having subsequently stayed for Mercenaries.

What you describe about that stage in BRM is probably what many of us felt back then — those trash mobs were getting old, yes.

Indeed. If they actually have people responsible for communication, I wish they were delivering meaningful stuff, as pointed out in the example above, instead of… this (kind of posting).

I beg to differ. From my point of view, it was spot-on from the very beginning.

True. In my opinion as an active player who likes the mode’s concept and enjoys the gameplay, the main problems would be:

  • Abundance of bugs (speaking of polish) and problems that have been persistent for a long time, poor documentation and communication — in other words, quality issues
  • Problems with PvE endgame and even those excess coins
  • Problematic packs
  • A bit of excessive grindiness (which this topic is essentially about in the first place)

I rely like how well you’ve identified and formulated so many of these points even as a new player. Lots of ‘hearts’ from me for your posts!
