Important to Spend/Save Gold?

So I recently came upon a lot of gold through the level up system and currently sitting at 710 while expecting another 500 soon. What should I spend all this on? I could buy packs, save for the mini set, go for wild cards… I’m unsure what to do with the gold now and I would buy a battle-ready deck but the decks can’t be bought with gold, which is very not fun. Thanks for the help!

I’d say to save for the mini set. Pound for pound it’s likely to be the best deal. The last one was worth more dust than an equal purchase of packs.

We’ll get a preview eventually and if none of the cards help with your decks you can buy packs then.

As for wild, I don’t recommend it. Eventually you’ll have a bunch of wild cards anyway because your standard collection will rotate. Focusing purchases on a single set gets you more duplicates and hence more things to dust without impacting your collection.

Oh cool, thanks for the quick response! I never bought the Darkmoon Faire mini set, so this will be helpful too! Hopefully this mini set is around the same cost. Thanks again for helping!

The cost was 2000 gold last time.

Why not just pay for some packs out of pocket? That’s what I do. As far the gold goes, do some duels. You’ll get at least one pack easily, some dust if you do well enough.

I never really want to be a P2W player and don’t usually buy in-app/in-game purchases. I prefer to be stingy or spend it on really interesting Switch games or other things and usually only pay if it’s necessary to play; in the case of Hearthstone, I can play without spending money, so I try to play for free as far as I can get.

F2P is definitely possible. Look for Trump on YouTube. He’s doing a series of vids taking a brand new account to legend completely f2p.

Oh I guess if you want to mooch off of someone else’s hard labor. You don’t have to dorm and arm and a leg, but some money wouldn’t hurt. Think of it as buying Blizzard for all the hard work they’ve done and the fun you’re having. The way you put it it makes it sound dirty for spending money on a game you’re enjoying.

Ignore Cybercide. They’re a blatant troll. If F2P were bad it wouldn’t be possible.

Free players contribute to profits by providing a player base. Without them the paying people would leave because matches would be harder to find.

That’s not what I’m saying at all, I’m just saying I prefer to not spend money if I don’t have to. I understand it supports Blizzard, but also other games I enjoy cost money to play at all and if I don’t have to pay money, it’s a lot easier to play and enjoy these games. Say what you will, but I will respect your decisions to pay money on Hearthstone and other games like it if you’ll respect my opinion. I’m just saying I don’t want to pay money on it and that’s an opinion others can share but not all people share; that’s fine. Even still, you don’t know why I don’t want to spend money; you never even considered that maybe I’m in a tough spot or something and just can’t pay extra money for a game like this and prefer to get as much from games as I can for the cheapest cost. Just respect my opinion on it being okay to be F2P and I will respect your choice to pay for it; it really doesn’t matter to me if you pay or not.

I’m free to play, currently in diamond. Played on and off over the years. I find that it’s really rewarding to build solid decks with limited resources, especially when they stand up against meta decks.
I keep a benchmark of saved gold that I don’t drop below (2000) and when I have everything I need in my deck it adds up slowly for the next drop (currently almost at 6000 gold).
But this came from the epic time-wasting covid times.

I don’t know, it just makes you come off as cheap. That’s all I’m saying. I sorta enjoy the best of both worlds. Have my cake and eat it too. Spend money here and buy a switch game. If buying a few decks gets me a better advantage I’m okay with that. It seems so sad that Americans have completely lost their way. If I was wanting a new switch game Abe HS cards I’d work an extra shift or do something for a little more money. I see no point in gimping myself in Ofer to have one and not the other.

Petty hill to die on, my friend… petty hill to die on. It really sucks when you assume so much stuff, huh? When did I say anything about where I’m from, my ability to get a job or even get money in that way, and more? If this is the thing you really think is important, so be it; but choosing that saying P2W is necessary, not the best thing to repeatedly insist upon, especially as an opinion.

The last expac netted me a HEFTY 18K. I now I have the full barrens set. Now i’m reaching 5k, i know Imma hit the gold limit soon. Imma still save it for next expac and get all the cards.

Yeah why spend hundreds on a low cost mobile game when he could pay 20 for an AAA game. I would rather buy FFX for 5 euros on sale and play it for 160 hours. In hearthstone that amount only gives 3 lootboxes aka 15 cards.

I just want to ask, what’s an expac? Is that the abbreviation for expansion packs or something?

They release expansions every 3 months. The first expansion for this game was Goblins vs Gnomes. I usually use around 4k gold to buy new expansion packs and that way I will have every rare and common card. Then I start saving gold for a new expansion. Atm I have saved 6600 gold

Four months.

You can find a FFX rom and PS2 emulator online for free. With an Xbox controller or generic game pad you can play like it’s 2002 all over again for free. This leaving you tune to buy into an an amazing game like this. Although FF and HS are two completely different games.

This isn’t a lot of gold. Part of what’s rough mentally about F2P is not blowing all your gold.

As others stated, the mini-set costs 2000 gold. But it’s better to build a warchest in preparation for the next set after a point.
