I can't recommend this game to new players

Heres the thing, I recently conceded twice in a row to players who had minions from the miniset. Mr Smite and Kazakusan, over powering minions that will likely turn the tide of the game.

The pattern I am seeing is that these minisets include incredibly strong minions that can be instantly accessible through currency. To a new player, this is a pay to win and I can’t find ways to defend, especially with these minisets.

Also, anything going to happen about the dust fiasco or now is the time we forget about it?

Minisets are P2W as much as cards from expansions. I have to also say that this game is F2P friendly since the revamping of the rewards system. If you’re new, you will acquire 2,000 gold rather fast.

I would probably save my gold, get the miniset, and then continue saving up for the next expansion. It is not too late to do this. There are very affordable decks that one can use to grind that don’t require the miniset.

I tend to play a lot, so forgive me if this seems unrealistic.

It is FTP. But it isn’t free to compete (there, are, of course, outliers to this).

Outside of MTG: Arena, I think this is the least newbie-friendly CCG in existence.

That’s a good game but indeed it is not newb friendly. That and this are the only CCGs I play and to me, this seems pretty F2P friendly. When you get into CCGs, isn’t it expected that you spend money? Considering that, you can play this game for free and many players do. I don’t understand what’s wrong with it.

I mean, I always invest a little seed money into any new game I am starting, so I don’t disagree with you.

Nothing is wrong with it imo, but some people don’t have the ready resources to invest and get even a single competitive deck. It’s advertised as FTP, so I guess many people take that on its word. It is technically true, but unless you want a long grind you better come with a wallet, much like MTG.

By newbie-friendly I mean the time it takes to have a competitive deck. LoR does this quite well, whatever else one might think of the game.

Well, can’t you feasibly put together at least one competitive deck as a newcomer? I have never been F2P but have heard it’s possible through putting together one cheap yet competitive deck to grind with.

Edit: I’ll ask on Reddit to see if I can find some budget decks and or an F2P guide.

Face hunter, maybe? I don’t play it so I don’t know. Burn Shaman isn’t terribly expensive, either, but notably more than Face Hunter.

I found this while looking around.

Also, here is my attempt at a new player guide.

good thing, because the miniset is the cheapest thing in the game."

I am too lazy to check, but I believe you get 2K gold in your first 50 level of the pass, which requires around 1 month of playing probably.

Normal expansions are more p2w thn minisets

honestly, minisets are the least p2w aspect of this game, it costs almost nothing and gives the same cards to everyone

  • i’m not sure but i think new and returning players can get a free t1 deck for free (which weird since we’re talking about bli$$ard)

That’s a you problem.

Unless they changed it, you can complete several quests against people on your friends list. Just do that and build up a decent gold supply then go on a spending spree.

I can. Hearthstone is like Warcraft meets Yu-gi-oh.

This topic is freaking hilarious, right now Hearthstone is one of the most F2P card games in the market.

A new player in its first month of play is flooded with resources from free decks cards and gold from the pass, when i started to play i was doing 40 gold daily quests and getting 5 gold for every 3 wins to a max of 100g per day(yes the amount of free gold you could get per day was CAPPED) …

The Mini sets and also Adventures in the past are the most F2P parts of the game since day 1 its ridiculous to say otherwise.

Exactly what I think. I never paid one single penny on any miniset, I bought them all using only in game gold. Actually, I normally can buy a lot more than only the mini-set with in game gold, and I’m not even a hardcore player today to spend hours grinding.

I almost had a stroke trying to figure out what you wanted to say.

that is not a relevant argument for hearthstone though.
Hearthstone is a computer-game 100%, the only relevant comparison are other f2p games, and there´s a lot out there that grant you 100% of the game for free and you only play for cosmetics.

That deck sucks at any competitive level right now, btw. I played that list months ago and until the last expansion and this mini set it was a good list.

No problem, Blizzard will recommend this game for you.

Yes, you can go ahead and forget what happened and move on. Blizzard already did it, and if they can do it, so can you. I believe in you and so does Blizzard.
