I am aware of the fact that if I don’t notice something, it is doesn’t mean necessarily it isn’t true, It was an answer to SuperveMario’s commentary :v
Well … let’s be honest in how we assess the state of discussion and communication in the modern digital era.
The Burden of Proof really does seem to have become a casualty of the Internet and digital communication in general. I would say that in a very large section of the population it is no longer considered an intellectual requirement for evidenciary, factual “proof” to exist in order to claim a position is “correct”.
All that seems to be required by individuals of this sort is to passionately, ferverently, and strongly BELIEVE that you are correct and that belief is now better than evidence, data, or facts. Case in point with this particular thread. The OP and his small chorus of cheerleaders have no evidence. They have no facts. They have no data. They have no proof. But they BELIEVE that they’re right, and so the door to their brains are now shut and as far as they’re concerned that’s all the proof they need.
So I think that when someone comes along who belongs to the old school of thought that the person making a claim is responsible for supplying the justification? That may be a position that - to the newer generation - is just a quaint anachronism.
Oddly - of course - the reverse is not true. If anyone dares to push back at the nonsense claims of an emotion-based assertion then somehow the formula reverses. The Factless Argumenters require anyone who debates them to supply absolute, 100%, exhaustive, foolproof physical evidence or they scoff.
“I don’t have to supply any proof of my idiotic, nonsensical, emotion-based, evidence free assertions. It is up to YOU to supply exhaustive proof that I’m wrong.”
That seems to be the mindset that pervades modern discussion today. Especially on the internet.
In a previous thread, I experienced things that is very similar as you describe. I reviewed the thread and my responses.
I realized I got lead into a ‘trap’ and I fail to manage both my posts and also my emotions. However, I also have learnt abit on how to better engage such topic, and also be respectful as well.
Precisely. The MMR is the rigging. It’s baked into the system and it’s pretty overtly publicized. There’s no need to create a complex algorithm to determine bad matchups and set up games that way.
I believe his evidence is anecdotal as evinced by the comment:
I don’t know if anyone has performed any scholarly research on the topic, but it’s definitely a trend that I’ve observed. The people that engage in such behavior would not phrase it in the way that I did, of course. But when people discuss topics about which they are passionate these days, there is definitely a strong undercurrent that Feelings > Facts.
That’s the thing, Sn1plock (despite being around 2.5% of the meta) is a Tier 1 deck and widely recognized to be very powerful. I’m not even sure the Warlocks I did see were Sn1p variants (like I said, I never saw combo pieces). Most of them were Reno variants without a doubt (to be fair that doesn’t mean they couldn’t have been Sn1plock), and while I can’t remember the exact timing of the matches, they weren’t out of the ordinary compared to the other decks I was facing.
So… That’s not a fact, then. That’s your opinion. “University stuff” is exactly how things turn from opinions into facts.
Issue is people using very small game history samples and think that is enough data.
Also pocket metas are a thing when ranking up. OP is right in that it is sometimes a good idea to switch decks. OP just came to the wrong conclusion IMO.
I’d be very biased and suggest CO. We all have our preferences on where to live and I’ve spent a decent amount of time in all three. To me mountains > beaches (especially when Red Tide hits Florida) and the Front Range (C-Springs to Ft. Collins) has something for everyone imho. Plus as my wife says Colorado (Denver really) has some of the best museums in the country (she has been to A LOT). Not NY/CHI level but top in that next tier.
All three have their positives though, for certain =)
Worth a second post because the logic is uncounterable.
You know what I do when I think a game is rigged? I uninstall that game and buy another game. Only a complete moronic fool idiot to epic proportions continues to play a game they think is rigged or a troll that doesnt believe the filth he spreads. Which one are you Letsurf? Im going to say with 0 other posts we can guess with 100% accuracy that it rhymes with conspiracy mole.
Wow the hatred in your heart knows no bounds. Calm down there son. If people didnt care about the game they would just do that…buy they do care… they want a fair enjoyable game. and for so many people to say mmm maybe something is going on here…just maybe its not a coincidence? Blizzard not addressing issues like this also makes you wonder. This is a free game remember… why would he uninstall and “buy” another. Nope he does not have to do anything but play and state what he thinks…he has that right also…just like blizzard has the right to skew the game in order for people to get frustrated to spend money.
And then you go and double post it because “the logic is uncounterable”? Like the sound of your inflated ego much Urza?
Playing hundreds of OTK deck matches, never met Benedictus Priest and deck with cards like Hex/Devolve were about 5% of my opponents.
After I switched to DK/N’Zoth Warlock, at least one per ten matches is Benedictus Priest. It’s ridiculous, they never appear again when I switch back to OTK or aggro.
When you play non meta decks you will face more other non meta decks. (this one I do believe to some extend and its a good one to make use of. If you don’t want see meta decks then simply play a non meta deck yourself and you will relatively see more other non meta decks)
When you are on a winstreak you will face a counter deck, switching decks only makes this more obvious.
After playing lots of bomb warrior with elysiana, which always showed up within the first 10 cards played, I removed elysiana and the first deck I see is a control warrior with elysiana.
Maybe the matchmaking system has a soft nudge and a hard nudge.
When on a small winstreak you will get a soft nudge, facing players that have a higher MMR.
When you still manage to maintain your winstreak you will get a hard nudge. Facing players that have not only a higher MMR but also a counter to your deck.
Then there maybe also is the uberhard kick in the balls nudge for players who don’t get the message. You will then not only face players with better mmr and a deck to counter your deck, they will also have the nut draw.
(i am not sure if I am serious myself here, but maybe lol)
This whole thread is about perception. It’s your perception that these things are happening. No one has presented any data.
I can go into my hsreplay games and see that rigging is nonsense. There are thousands of games worth of data analyzed by different websites each week. No mention of rigging.
So I’m supposed to just take somebody’s word that rigging is real? Nope. Prove it with data.
