I guess that’s the reason they don’t want to officially disclose the existence of a pity timer in their documentation, so they don’t have to give out refunds for situations like this. I’d still be hammering for one though.
It isn’t illegal because they haven’t officially disclosed the existence of a pity timer. This was just by one of their employees.
B) People who bought these rightfully assuming there was a pity timer, pretty much got scammed? Blizzard can explain it away however they want, but that won’t stop people thinking and feeling this way.
C) This is the closest that Blizzard has come to acknowledging that a pity timer exists elsewhere?
I didn’t buy it. Doubt I was going to but now certainly not. This “announcement” leaves a rather sour taste.
Also this has me thinking… Since Blizzard never officially acknowledged the pity timer. They can pretty much change or remove it at any time without even an announcement. People wouldn’t even know. At least not right away. I’m sure they won’t do something like this cause it would be pretty suicidal (unless it’s a buff) I think, but there is like nothing at all that’s preventing it otherwise.
edit: pity timer and the 10 pack rule are technically two different things I think. Here I am referring to the 10 pack rule. Could it be that the employee meant one might exist but not the other.
They haven’t confirmed the 40 pack timer but they have repeatedly confirmed the first 10 timer.
Everyone assumed gold packs worked the same way, including apparently the devs. It’s a reasonable assumption.
Lots of players have gotten gold packs from adventures, and this would have put many people in the first 10 range. That should guarantee a golden legendary, but unbeknownst to almost everyone, it doesn’t.
Blizzard took advantage of that. That’s a bait and switch.
They have officially referenced the pity timer. A few years ago they were forced by China to disclose drop rates for their “loot box” rules. Blizzard answered along the lines of “1:20 pack average, increasing from there to a guaranteed pull” or something like that. They didnt say what number the guaranteed pack was, but 40 is yet to be disproven as it.
After all the reading on these “Golden Packs” I bought some, before I bought them I had purchased a pack of dragons with 100 gold and got the Warlock Dragon Legend , I don’t play lock so I dusted it for other cards I wanted. The very first pack I open and top card is Legendary Finkle Einhorn , I also got 1 Epic, 2 blues in one pack. 2 other packs had 2 blues also. I feel I got lucky
This deal should have been a rare and epic guaranteed in each pack and at least 1 gold legend total in all packs. What is it hurting this isnt the case? Bliz makes money and ppl get quality gold cards. Why did Bliz leave this to chance so ppl rightefully get up in arms about confusion on pity timer and such? The answer is this is just lazy and a greedy cash grab by Blizzard with no actual thought into how this would work and go down. Shame on Blizzard. They can do better than this. We demand better than this to continue to support Bliz products. Every poor execution Bliz takes just further cements the fact they are out of touch with pleasing players but alienating them as well and then losing those players. Wake up Blizzard and get your act together.
Why not though? That is my point. It is a one of kind sale. Why not splurge on player and even say thanks for playing HS its a whatever anniversary. What does it hurt giving the player a great deal?
I didn’t say it would hurt anything. But as nice as it would be (and it would be!) it’s still an unrealistic expectation. Again, your suggestion means they would give away as much dust for $15 as you would from a $50 preorder. I don’t see that’s a realistic.
EDIT: nevermind that bit, I fudged the math there.
You might as well ask them to make all cards available for free. Nice to have, but unrealistic, IMO.
Im asking them to do a great deal once in 6 years as they have never done this before (1 time a year would be great) and you think i want all cards free now? Come on man.
It’s very telling that they bundled a 6 pack, knowing that would get many players to 10, knowing that everyone thought they followed the first 10 timer.
