Golden packs do NOT follow pity timer rules

The more logical thing for them to do was bump the pack up to $25 for 10.
That way the 10 pack timer comes onto effect, Blizzard gets more money, players are happy with a very high chance of a golden legendary.

What am I thinking… blizzard doesn’t care about the players

This entire thread was created because there IS no 10-pack timer…

And my last sentence was to show that blizzard doesn’t care about the players and none of that stuff happens

What is a pity timer?

It’s the number of packs you have to open before you are guaranteed to get a card of a specific rarity. For example, you are guaranteed to open one legendary within the first ten packs you open for any one card set. That’s one pity timer (and the only one officially confirmed by Blizzard).

Other pity timers have been deducted based on pack opening data players have collected: you are guaranteed an Epic card every 10 packs, and a Legendary card every 40 packs. So if you open 9 packs of one expansion without getting an Epic card, the 10th pack you open has a nearly 100% chance of giving you an Epic card.

Thank you! Great explanation. So basically if a new set comes out, if I purchase 10 packs, I’m guaranteed a legendary. Any other purchases after that the normal pity timers kick in (Epic per 10, Legendary per 40)

Correct.

After you lost millions of dollars in a casino, the casino gives you a free sandwich.
This sandwich is “pity timer”.

Dang, probably did this to avoid setting up better odds.
Which isn’t a for sure thing, but if you know it’s been a while since u classic’d a legendary, or are 3-4 packs in w/o an epic, you’d be more tempted to buy gold pack the once a decade it’s offered, to pretty much guarantee a gold epic in first pack or two.

That’s the only logic i can see and it’s not even logical bc of how infrequent gold packs are offered.

I pulled 2 legendaries, i mean if you can call them that they’re trash new-classic things, which i think is the real reason they offered gold packs knowing most of us don’t have all those new classic cards nobody wants so any gold purples n legendaries are def going to be those for most ppl.

It sucks i cant give my collection away for when i move on from search-engine-battler and upgrading to PvE non-infoshare gaming.
