Getting back into hearthstone and it's impossible to win now

Getting back to reg hearthstone after taking the pirate/paradise expansion off and i’m finding it nearly impossible to win in bronze ranking and I can’t build any good decks anymore as a free player.

any tips?

Just start with a basic aggro deck that doesn’t complicate things too much. E.g. a flood pala or a pain lock or a pirate dh.

Those decks have subtleties but they are not too confusing to start.

I just got to legend as a F2P peasant like 2 or 3 days ago right before reset so it’s not impossible, granted that was wild.

There are a fair amount of pretty cheap decks right now that are good. For now just invest in Whizzbang’s, PiP, and the Great Beyond sets. Whatever set we get after TGB is going to rotate out the current block and you’ll have access to a bigger percentage of the total cards in Standard when that happens (in 3-ish months).

Don’t buy standard packs, if you get any standard packs then don’t open them until rotation, and play elemental shaman, buff paladin, or pirate DH until then. These are all cheap decks that are legend viable and should get you through bronze.

I mean who wouldn’t want to face bots like cjqzcokyrq {legitimate bot name}

Unfortunately, according to hs replay, I can’t build any cheap decks.

Tempted to dust all wild cards or maybe all cards and start fresh.

Guess this game is trying to force you to spend a ton of mo day to win now.

You need to look at actual budget decks and not top performing decks. That said even the budget ones are going to require legendaries but I coached my brother into platinum (standard) with a big spell mage deck that didn’t have King Tide or Skyla so it’s definitely possible.

Elemental Mage is doing really well right now and it only has 1 legendary: Saruun, the rest are commons and rares. You can even win games without Saruun with a Rolling Stone or something for a truly budget deck.

At this point , I think matchmaking is forcing me to lose all the time as I do have a elemental mage deck but i lose anyways.

How long were you away? If you return after 90 days, you get a free deck.

I wouldn’t do that. I’d be tempted to take a 3 month break and come back for the next expansion instead. If you want to play HS in the meantime, I’d suggest starting an alt account and getting a free deck that way.

Do you have a deck list? The deck does use cards from Perils in Paradise:
2x Lamplighter (common). That is the main wincon for the deck.
1x Dreamplanner Zephrys (legendary from the mini set)
1x Incindius (legendary)

Zephrys is just too good not to play, and Incindius works really well with the support for fire spells in the new expansion.

I also play Mes’Adune in mine. Hitting a minion with a powerful battlecry (Lamplighter, Zephrys, Incindius) is a matter of luck, but it is so powerful when it happens.

About 60+ days.

Whats the point coming back in 3 months to get a measly deck or pack that will do crap all anyways since matchmaking is completely screwed up and favors their elite players.

The developer needs to be fired and a new team come in that welcomes casual players and not just favor their elite/paying players.

Here’s the Elemental Mage deck. Won 13 games in a row with it yesterday.

To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

There is some finesse on what to use your Aqua Archivist discount on. If you can get a Tainted Remnant out on Turn 3 you usually do it.

Plus don’t play out all your elementals too early because you need 1 every turn to scale up the Lamplighter.

Zephyrs is definitely an interesting addition to the deck but it’s probably not needed since the deck usually wins so fast.

see if I can make it after this BG game.

probably better than my elemental mage deck.

Edit: can’t make as i’m missing 5 cards, which isn’t surprising.

You are probably just missing the new expansion cards. As I said the deck is very cheap except for the 1 legendary Saruun, replace with a Rolling Stone.

Will take a look at how much dust I need whenever I get back in.

thanks.

Update: one one and lost one and quit instantly another.

not bad but matchmaking in bronze is not nice.

Saruun with cards like overflow surger filling a board (twice) is not pretty, unless you are the mage

i am the mage but the damn game keeps on paring me with players I have no bleeping business playing against.

What angers me is that I can’t friend anyone in the game. Even though most of the time I just want to tell them that they are good at cheating.

Edit: and back to instant conceding as there’s no point. Especially it’s obvious they bought the bundle and can build their ship or whatever.

Saruun is not necessary if Lamplighter is your wincon. Saruun really doesn’t help the Lamplighter wincon at all. Increasing spell damage is not much use in a deck that relies on having a load of minions, although it does make Solar Flare very effective as a board clear later in the game.

If you don’t run Saruun, you can use Zephrys and hope to get a decent board clear from him, or just get some face damage card(s) to close out the game.

However, Saruun does give you a new wincon:
Overflow Surger with +1 fire spell damage, copied 6 times gives you fire spell damage +7. That’s 20 face damage with a single (pre-forged) Molten Rune for 7 (4+3) mana. Play Flame Geyser for 8 more damage?

Of course, you need to decide whether its better to add cards to make your main wincon more consistent, or to add different cards to get you an alternate wincon.

Without Saruun, Solar Flare is just Consecration with a variable mana cost. Is it even worth running without Saruun?
