It’s unfortunate but, only having gotten 12 wins (my first run above 5 wins ever) a day or two ago, I guess I should consider myself lucky I got one mild ‘high’ out of it.
No free arena mode (with no rewards), no new PvE dungeon run modes, Mercenaries we don’t even pretend to acknowledge exists have the time because it was so ill-conceived and abandoned despite HEAVY promotion, etc.
Regular Hearthstone and Battlegrounds are the only modes with any consistency and it’s really disheartening.
What a load of crap. Remove the only mode that didn’t have a massive botting problem instead of just leaving it alone

At least this will make it easier to quit since duels was the only fun thing left playing.
What a bad idea. Duels is so fun to play. You might find some crazy overpower things to perform and create good moments. And in my opinion, it doesn’t need particular monetization. It already required tickets to participate in ranked mode, and it always contained the last expansion, so you need to open packs. I hope blizzard will see this and leave the game mode in the client somehow. I like this mode :C
I rarely post and I get not updating it anymore, but to REMOVE fully. Over the years ive spent 1000s on this game and to FULLY remove a part of it is absurd. Dont update, thats fine, but at least leave it as an option for people who like it. As other have said, while i dont play it much, i do like it as a change of pace and it got me back into the game at one point.
Similar to HOTS. I understand not updating. Removing it is TRUELY offensive to the player base. Literally that you would consider it, makes me want to play any other game mode less. This really might be what finally stops me from playing hearthstone anymore. Why bother investing if in six months or 12 they just completely remove battlegrounds or some other thing i like.
You have to support the community to have its trust. Again, I think everyone understands not update it anymore. NO ONE understands removing it.
I urge Blizzard to reconsider! Duels is a fun mode!
Duels is the most variable mode for players who often find that Standard becomes monotonous fairly quickly after each expansion. I think it has certainly kept me in the game rather than going away and finding something else to do when Standard gets boring. I assume Blizzard’s view is that Duels cannibalizes Arena in that regard, and since Arena costs money to play Blizzard would rather we play that. However for many the choice is not between free Duels or paid Arena runs, but between free Duels and buying a different game altogether.
Instead I would encourage Blizzard to reconsider, put resources into improving duels balance and variability, and then to promote it to get more players trying a fun experience that could ultimately mean “stickier” customers.
Mercenaries is unplayable, far far worse than Duels, yet it survives and you are shutting down duels?
It’s literally the thing that brought me back to play last year after a year away
Awful news. Blizzard, you’ve been going so far downhill and I’m sure its the corporate suits at the top, but come one. Just because you can’t monetize something doesn’t mean you need to abandon it. I think the true reason is they saw the amount of people enjoying playing in a mode where having every card from every expansion wasn’t a necessity, and they want to push more people into spending money on packs, on battlegrounds heroes, and other microtransactions. I can’t wait to see the player base tank when this goes live, and I’ll be laughing along with all the other people as we watch you tumble from the good graces of gamers. I played WoW for 15 years, loved Diablo, but lately this company (along with most other triple A studios) has gone the way of money grubbing and bottom lines, instead of coming up with enjoyable content. Boo Blizzard.

Duels IS the core and fun of Hearthstone for me and many others. Just leave it unattended as you have for so long, but don’t erase it altogether.
Many of us Quest there and actually enjoy playing the game while there.
With these new skinner-type design philosophies in gaming in general, it’s hard to find stuff that is just fun to play. Aaaand you’re killing it because it fails to hook people into spending? Eh, makes sense, I guess, sadly.

Well the game mode that is the only reason I’m still playing is gone, finally I can get out of this game. Duels will be missed.
Why the hell are you removing Duels? At least leave it playable in an unsupported state. Horrible.

I rather say the game has come to and end… First they removed classic… then stopped supporting Merceneries… (which was a dead idea in itself…) and now they are removing Duels…( which I never played btw…) Will you start to focus on Standard now or remove it also and shut down the game? Because the balance is horrible… and just getting worse with every new decisions You make for a long time now…
Please reconsider this change. Duels is my primary motivator for spending money and the reason I’ve maintained engagement for so long. When a new set is released I buy the big bundle, the battlepass, and two other bundles to 100% the set for the purpose of playing Duels. I play other modes because I’m so engaged in the game due to Duels, and that means I purchase skins, the BG battlepass, and other products. Finally, as an achievement hunter I use Duels to try new cards and experience the fun of Hearthstone. Without Duels as a vehicle for that experience, I can’t see myself continuing to maintain engagement and spend in this game. Please do not remove Duels from the client.

Terrible decision, this will probably just make me and many others stop playing Hearthstone in general, I am primarily a Duels player, and it is the most fun mode in the whole game.
I bet it’s due to not being able to monetize it properly, but in the end they will probably just lose money due to not having the mode… Good job Blizzard, you shot yourself in the foot again.

It was the fastest way to clear the 0/5 weekly quest.
The only reason I bought Standard bundles was so I could play with them immediately in Duels, not like I really needed anything for my Wild decks, so it’s gonna see me quit that. I think because Duels shares with other modes, Blizzard underestimates the monetization it sees. Hell, I even bought Helya for Duels, only to get her banned with no refund.
Exactly, the only reason I bought packs and crafted cards were to use them in Duels. I rarely play Standard or Wild, just to like silver to get some extra packs after the season.
Just a terrible decision to remove the mode. Roffle got more people into it also recently, and there were no botting problem… I just don’t understand how they thought this was a good idea.
