So it bothers you that those who support the game receive a small benefit and can farm the others over and over again when in reality no one is going to spend more than their free ticket, because in this event we are not competing for big rewards, just testing the new cards…
See everyone ? Exactly my point…There are some people that just defend the p2w model because they pay…I sure hope Blizzard makes the step and makes the game p2w in the real state of p2w and stops beating the bush with this cr@p so that everyone except people like you leaves and you can farm your own asses with your wallets.
The Executives of Blizzard are systemically myopic to how their lust for short term profits hurts their long term profits. Yeah you may be able to grab some cash in the next three months if you push blatantly obvious pay to win schemes.
Are you aware that your games lose half of the players they gained every couple of years because people are VERY aware of those schemes (they are not as stupid as you think) while they don’t quit within the first 3 months but later?
For me there is a secondary but huge effect to this: it makes me STUBBORN to not pay them even if I can when I see pay to win schemes,
so you produce an entire population of people who either quit entirely or just try to not pay you precisely because you’re too greedy.
It almost costs 10€ to buy two tickets and you can win bigger prizes the more wins you make per run, of course it’s about competing for big rewards.
If it was only about testing new cards they would just run a weekend event where we can just test a pre-built deck in the tavern brawl or something.
Also, usually the arena was updated 1 week prior to the release so that the new cards were in it. They seem to have ditched this now for this event, which takes access away from everyone who didn’t pre-order.
You’re aware that people support the game by buying different things, right? I never pre-order but I leave a lot of money in the Arena. Other people buy skins / cosmetics. We’re as well part of the community who keep the game alive with the money we spend.
An event that just includes everyone would have just been the appropriate thing.
you do know they wont be able to use dark beyond cards in standard right ?
we would been able to run the pre ordered cards
that was the reason peopel complained about it
no idea why are you comparing those
This is the answer. I am F2P and will definitely be using my trough of tickets for this. I don’t use them for arena, since it takes so long to go through the whole drafting process, even just tapping the middle card every time to speed it up. And then playing one turn and conceding. And then doing it all over again. Ugh… so tedious. This will allow me to eat up my tickets and get free packs. And even if I don’t have any new cards, I’ll at least get to see them in action for myself. And maybe I’ll even win a game or two. Who knows?
So you’re combining two things here.
First, does the event make sense? Yes. It showcases the new cards. It adds a nice twist to the “open your packs early” event by actually allowing players to use them early, albeit in a controlled environment. It is nice for players who pre-ordered, since they can try their new cards. What about people who did not pre-order? Well, as I said earlier, they can use their first run to see some of the new cards in action and get excited about the expansion. And if, like me, they are sitting on a mountain of tickets, they can use those for free entries.
Second, who are these pack rewards for? For players who pre-ordered, they can still get new cards, although that’s obviously less likely then more cards you’ve collected. But it’s still free packs, free cards, free dust. Hell, the early nodes on the rewards track gives free packs, including to players who pre-ordered. Those are still useful early into the track. Well, it doesn’t get much earlier than a pre-launch event. For F2P folks, they can still earn the two free packs for the first run. And as I said, if they’ve got a stash of tickets, they can use those for free entries and earn more packs. My only critique is that maybe the gold cost should be 200g, not 300g. That way, the 2 free packs for the entry fee are the same as buying 2 packs for 100g each. Of course the Perils packs have a bit less value, but F2P folks a likely to still have a decent chance to pull a new card. Plus, if you get lucky and pull out a win, you get two GDB packs. And maybe more.
I believe you lost a time frame in the life of hearthstone, and I didn’t say they will be able to use them in standard…I said the cards will be usable in brawl, so if you paid you have an advantage in the brawl which in terms makes this move p2w. The fact that it gave some free stuff ( 1 run to get some packs) doesn’t make it better
at least we got a free run, normally we dont, normally its 1k gold per run, now its 300
i’ll do a couple runs, meme deck time
totally remembered the two free tavern tickets from the event, yay free packs!
tavern tickets from the event
3 from the tavern pass
enough for 2 runs+ free one
I’m going to spend my tickets right here right now in normal 0/0 arena runs, just because im sure there wont be much benefit in farming noobs this event…
Edit: not so bad i got a legendary
I need to give a free win as well, since I do not play standard I have 100k gold and 500k dust but have literally no cards, except the ones I got from the old brawls and events.
F2P players whining when they don’t get the same benefit as people that pay. Tale as old as time.
So this is basically early access and technically a new mode exclusive to whales? Yes everyone gets one free run but whales can continuously play with the new cards. You guys are missing the bigger picture. They are testing the waters for how much they can milk players for early access to an expansion and are clearly using FOMO. Everyone’s favorite streamers will basically be playing the new expansion early and the peasants have to wait, unless they continuously pay up. This sets a really bad precedent if it’s successful as a coin sink.
If you watch streams on twitch, you can get some free packs before the event
Plus im entered in multiple youtube giveaways, gotta try ya know
“They’ve” been doing this for years. There’s nothing original about your complaints. It won’t change anything.
It will change something if everyone pushes back like we did with quests. They’ve never done anything like this. This is literally paid for early access. And it’s not a coincidence that they’ve been trying many new ways to monetize the game recently. Including selling early access to Corridor Sleeper. But it’s fine. Just keep letting things slip. I’m sure it won’t come back to bite us.
This to me is a great way to give early access i think this is great i hope it stays.
is harmless because it cointaned to the tavern brawl they dont get to use those cards in the ranked ladder
they dont get to try the new meta eiter
we all get a run for free so we wont miss the weekly pack from taven brawl
80 Packs wont drown you in cards.
even @100 packs, you are probably looking at 1 new card per 2 packs, or at least more dust.
So what do you believe how many different cards you’ll get out of 80 packs? 5?
