No, they are trying to get you to become more addicted and play more
This is literally what every online game does now. They give you a list of things to do which is difficult to achieve without effort and makes the player feel like they are missing out if they don’t complete the list
It’s not because that’s not what has been implemented that they didn’t consider it.
It would require a visual and functionnal rework of the quest page and system, much more costly than just changing numbers on an already working system.
But surely redesigning it at all should require purpose.
If your resources, both in terms of time and money, are limited to the extent that any changes made would only worsen it, it might be best to leave it untouched altogether.
It does the same thing, but on a daily basis, with the same prerequisites for completing the quest.
Personally, I’d even argue that 15 games to win is a low threshold for those who are actively engaged in playing within a week. I’d prefer if they set it to 30 or 40 games, with rewards granted at each step along the way to benefit everyone.
The purpose to to make you want to buy the boost…nothing more. It won’t affect bots, just punishes the casual player that just wants to pop on and get their weekly done lol.
Agreed, that’s what I meant by “difficult to achieve without effort”. Like it tries to force you to play things that you wouldn’t otherwise because it’s boring or time consuming.
Like I seriously don’t know how many games most people play. I often don’t win 5 games in ranked each week because I only play a handful of games a week. I enjoy Hearthstone but it does feel like more and more of a job than something to do when I’m bored
Yikes. As a FtP player i could always buy the miniset and 60+ packs at expansion with gold. Alongside disenchanting wild cards i could always keep up with any decks or cards i wanted. This feels like a blatant move to get me to open my wallet to stay competitive, or at least to stay current with any decks i may want to try in the future. Thats a hard no from me, tbh - i really only have my morning coffee time to play and theres just no way ill finish em in a timely enough manner to keep up, xp wise.
Blizzard need all these F2P players to fill games and feed victories to their whales.
I have been playing about 7 hours per week for a few years, never spending a dime, playing handcrafted fun decks, losing 80% of the time… But at least I could get my quests completed and earn some rewards for playing…
Now it will be twice the effort/time to get a reward and since I am not willing to spend more hours on the game, I suspect I will lose interest very quick. Oh well, there are other free games all around.
There are, but most are moving in the same direction. I play 4 “free” games pretty regularly and the tasks, quests, goals, etc, are all getting more and more arduous to try to force people to spend more time in the game. The paid rewards tracks are there for the same reason, getting you to make a smallish investment to earn rewards, but needing to play constantly or the rewards aren’t actually awarded. It’s all very concerning tbh
Honestly as a casual i think this is the change that pushes it over the line for me, i dont play enough to complete most of them in a week, some even in 2 weeks. So even with an xp increase this is a large net loss xp for me. i already stuggle to justify how much money i spend on this game even as a casual and i just cant anymore… right after the 10th anniversery as well… guess its a good moment to quit…
I don’t really mind them but that’s because i complete them naturally just through playing different modes of the game. Achievements to me are the real pointless part that rope players in.
The least they could do is change it from ‘ranked’ wins to just wins over any mode or even just ranked/casual.
As it stands now assuming a 50% winrate it went from 10 total games to 30 total games for an extra 500 exp which is what 25 gold?
I have to imagine more people will quit as its becomes too time consuming to be free to play with mabye a bundle here and there and their collections fall more and more behind than will suddenly be driven to amp up their spending.
Really? Blizzard, did you see what you doing? Right now, I believe the golddick come back again. And if you go bankrupt, I really think you deserve it.
Keep in mind that Blizzard isn’t making these calls any longer. This is a MS corporate decision and it will only get more egregious as they continue to target the mobile players more.
