Changes Incoming for Evocation & Solarian Prime

Ice Block – This Mage secret is a powerful card, and has been the centerpiece of Standard decks for years. It’s time to make more room for new Mage decks in Standard.”

Maybe you remember some reddit thread or something, but from the official site, all they said is just new mage decks, not necessarily ones with defensive options.

But if you want to stretch it, consider that every freeze spell that they released since then can be used defensively.

Just going through old vs reports, here are some decks mages went through since ice block got HoF

Big spell mage
Aluneth mage
Odd mage
Conjuror mage
Cyclone mage (first iteration, with elemental evocation)
Highlander mage
Spell (no minion) mage
Turtle mage (briefly before being nerfed out of existence)
Small spell mage

If you look at it long term, that’s not too bad in variety, even if they aren’t tier 1 in their respective metas. It’s just that highlander is the one that’s been around for the longest time in recent memory.

And Face Hunter had an even greater winrate against Druid before changes with druid having no magical rng buttons to adapt to any matchup and save them.

So? If your aim is to win against face hunter specifically, play a different deck.

I was going to ask you that, too. Funny.

I don’t think you know what trolling actually is. You appear to believe anyone who disagrees with you is a troll.

I have stayed on message but for to ask others to do the same.
And cheering nerfs as opposed to discussing their pros and cons is trolling
(extraneous)

It’s just we’ve campaigned so long to get this. Can’t help but feel a bit celebratory over it.

Well, if you’re all done now, do you want to tell us what you think this will do to meta?

People reacting to news in an open message board is not trolling.

I would hope it would make it seem a bit fairer.

Do you have an actual opinion on the changes?

Don’t take this personally, Mall, but you do throw the words troll and trolling around a little too freely.

You as well. Do you have an opinion on the changes?

Hm. My opinion? Well, despite just dusting a ton of cards to create a spell mage deck, I believe the nerfs were deserved.

Do you think the deck you crafted will still be viable?

I could argue that its a buff.
I now no longer can use Skulking Geist to remove it.

I do, regardless as to these changes. A few plays are now made impossible, evidently. I still believe my deck will rake in decent win rates if I can play it well.

Fascinating. I had not considered that card, but other than Priest
does anyone run Geist in Wild?

I haven’t played mage in years, usually destroy the ones I see on the ladder, and don’t have an informed opinion on these card changes…which is why I read the discussion instead of taking it over like our self appointed mage instructor.

Ice Spells released since Ice Block hall of fame : Ice Arrow (only targets minions) ,Icicle( a Joke) , Brain Freeze (only targets minions) and Deep Freeze ( 8 mana card that does nothing when you die on turn 5/6).

Big Spell Mage , Aluneth Mage were part of the game long before Ice Block moved to the Hall of fame.

Odd Mage ,Conjurer Mage ,Cyclone Mage, Highlander Mage, Spell Mage , Small Mage have 0 new sustain Mage cards .
Turtle Mage is a Joke that lasted a few weeks.

Where are those decks that Ice Block was HOLDING BACK???

Let me know how you fare.
And as an aside? Urban dictionary not withstanding.
Blizzard defines trolling as anything inflammatory extraneous or upsetting so, I don’t overuse the term, or throw it around too much.

Almost anything can fall under those qualifications all depending on how a user feels. But you have a point, if you’d like to use that definition.
