[BUG] The selected deck is not valid for this game mode

I’ve done that and one of my decks were fix while the rest that were affected wasn’t. The glitch still shows in my collection after I crafted it and when I put it in a deck I’m unable to do reno as it shows the number 2 when there’s only one card in deck. From what I can tell from what they patch did work but at the same time it cause the same problem to me all over again. So, doing this method fails for me.

  1. go to your decks list
  2. open to edit the problematic deck
  3. copy deck from header option
  4. exit edit and delete deck
5.create new deck with clipboard data

SOLVED in my case.

  1. I have had the same issue and tried all work arounds above (remaking, editing, resaving, copying, checking for dupes, running repair). No result.
  2. Downloaded Hearthstone on my iPhone, opened deck, saw that althrough it appeared correct on my PC, on the phone the duplicate / ungrouped cards showed as well as the deck being short of 30. Removed the faulty cards, added them again, saved deck with 30 cards.
  3. Opened on pc. Worked perfectly.

Thank you for suggestion. It worked like a charm. I’m new to Hearthstone, and this made my day <3

This seems to be a bug concerning golden copies of cards. My girlfriend couldn’t get her deck to work and she had two copies of golden arcane intellect in her deck. But she hasn’t reached lvl 25 yet with mage to even unlock it. For some reason it gave her those cards already and if she tries to use them the deck is unusable. I had to log in on computer (she plays on phone) to have the game auto remove the cards. Hope this helps.

this is a really bad bug, I want to pipe up. I was trying to get my wife to learn hearthstone, and luckily I was there to do the research to work through this bug. This would absolutely turn off/ deter new players from playing. Please escalate this bug as it is truly game-breaking for new players, and should have the highest priority. Just change the ‘finish deck’ algo to not include golden or non-basic cards. Really unacceptable for a game dev like Blizzard

I got this bug and managed to solve it by disenchanting cards i had (copies) and then retrying and didn’t get the message again.

Yep I wasn’t even half an hour in and I was really enjoying it but my only mage deck glitched and I can’t play anymore it was a great game until this happened

New player (so mage only) still doing tutorial/practice mode to unlock more heroes, then changing deck and going back to practice mode resulted in the [THE SELECTED DECK IS NOT VALID FOR THIS GAME MODE]’’.

By changing the deck back to the default deck, it was fixed.
Found a list of the default decks on hearthstone.gamepedia

Hey all,

If you end up with this issue and the information above doesn’t help, usually your best bet is going to be deleting the deck and recreating it manually. This will typically allow you to remove whatever card(s) the system is detecting as invalid and replace them.

How do you exactly delete a deck? Do you remove all the cards from it manually or is there any specific button or shortcut for it?

Rtizu,

On a PC you can click the X button in the top right when you hover over the deck. On a mobile device, you tap on the deck name and a delete option pops up.

Well this has happened to my friend who is new to the game and can’t make custom decks yet, he is legit stuck with a broken mage deck that he can’t delete or create a new one of, fix the problem because suggestions ain’t helping.

SirScientist,

We can’t help individual players who piggyback on this thread. To get help, your friend should contact our support team so we can look over the situation with them.

I am a new player who is also experiencing this issue. When I try to play the mage deck it says: “The selected deck is not valid for this game mode”

As a new player I cannot delete decks to start fresh. It’s frustrating for those of us who are new to the game.

Here’s what I’ve worked out:

Like others who are affected by this issue, I received the fancy gold border version of Arcane Intellect.

The error can occur either before or after the “Finding Opponent” window appears. If I have any Arcane Intellect card in my deck, then the message appears after “Finding Opponent”. Otherwise the game immediately gives the error. (The error message is the same regardless.)

This gold bordered card seems to be the problem. It’s disappointing because it happened right when I was getting excited about the game.

Okay i think i found the fix to this, its not necessarily the golden card itself, it is that people are trying to put two of a golden card into their deck when they only have one, if you look at the golden card youre trying to put in, and you have two in your deck, take them out and look under the golden version of that card in your collection, if the card doesnt have a “X2” under it like the other multiples, only put one of the golden card in your deck or it will cause the glitch. Hope this helps anybody!

Brand new player herem this was exactly my issue. I went and messed around with the deck before playing practice. Thanks for the solution

Worked perfectly indeed. Thanks!

I have this bug too. Blizz recommends deleting the deck and manually rebuilding it? Ok so you want me to manually rebuild roughly a dozen of my decks? How about not happening. How about you patch whatever bug is causing this?

copy to new deck and destroy the original one. same cards, even same deck name (temporary duplicate name). This fixed it for me and easier than manually rebuilding.
only thing that changed is the deck ID if something like that exists…
maybe some problem with nerfs/buffs and moving cards to hall of fame
