When I try to run Hearthstone, it does say that I need to update it, however… under the Update button there is “Waiting on another update…”.
I have only Hearthstone (and Battle.net launcher/app) installed, so there is nothing else it could wait after really. Now, when I open the launcher app settings, then I discovered that under the “Beta” tab there under Battle.net Beta there is this launcher progress triangle-icon thing moving with text “69% Completed…” … and nothing else happens. For HOURS. Tried relaunching the launcher several times, nothing changes → Hearthstone doesn’t update, Battle.net beta update stuck at 69% and not going anywhere.
How can I kill/reset this update? What folders/files do I need to delete for it to start over or not even try to update into beta branch?? why does it even try to update to beta launcher, when I have NEVER myself set it into the beta? such beta updates should be disabled by default…
Typically these updates get stuck because of background services that are stalled or conflicts with other programs. The easiest thing to try first would be to restart the PC and relaunch the Blizzard app as Admin to see if it can get past this update.
If that doesn’t help, you can try a clean reinstall of the Blizzard app, which should remove that beta version.
Next open the temp locations and delete any Battlenet and Blizzard folders you see in each location. Press Windows Key + R and type:
• %LOCALAPPDATA%
• %APPDATA%
• %TEMP%
• %PROGRAMDATA%
Finally go ahead and reinstall the app from here. Make sure you run as Admin.
I did not ask how to reinstall the Battle.net launcher. Good thing you didn’t try to explain to me how to reinstall Windows just in case … because I don’t even have Windows.
I specifically asked how to reset this specific Battle.net launcher stuck update … because reasons*. Running it as “admin” doesn’t help.
Where does the launcher save it’s temporary download files for itself upgrade?
How do I disable beta branch updates altogether (from command line options or via by editing some relevant config file?)? (because reinstalling will do this same beta bs again probably)
edit: nvm. apparently Blizz broke something terminally with the update agent and everyone in the linux world is having the same problem:

Blizz alot of times release updates filled with bugs but in this case i have to defend it , linux and related are not supported platforms , so is possible they dont test them .
