Why not speed up the rewind animation instead of nerfing Clocksworth?

Here’s an update on the system that wastes money and time from minors who lie about their age when registering, in defiance of all civil and moral laws.

Why will Dive the Golakka Depths be banned in the brawl?

People who think that Quest Paladin is not weak will not play the brawl more than one free run with an outcome like 0-3 anyway.

It’s very disappointing that Spirit of the Badland / Mirage still hasn’t been fixed. You’re really don’t care about Reno Paladin Players in Wild.

It’s probably deemed too strong in the limited card pool with fewer control tools.

Still no Fix for Mirage after more than 2 Months…

I think it will be nothing more than playable in the limited card pool. It is unplayable in the area higher than 2000 of legend now.

Meanwhile warlock’s quest is OP and it is not banned.

Meanwhile such brawls are basically not for very low mmr players anyway. They will use their free run and that’s all.

Because not everyone has a ‘She-matic’ (a ‘Feminator’ of sorts, I guess? Like Enhance-a-matic, except… ‘politically correct’) for a brain, and they do realise: without older sets, it’s gonna be a large powerhouse, just like it was last time with Un’Goro’s launch events, if memory serves (one can do the research if necessary, I can’t be bothered right now).

https://hearthstone.wiki.gg/wiki/Enhance-a-matic

They tried…

https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/will-across-the-timeways-bring-the-fun-back-to-hearthstone/

Something like that.

PS Specially for you, gonna quote the relevant part:

Unfortunately, Rewind has been technically challenging to implement, and it has been sloooow. Rewind is part of the teaser card that we have on the live servers, Mister Clocksworth, so people have already expressed their concerns about it. It’s not about the animation, the animation just covers up the game going back to a previous state and continuing from there.

I tried to compare the Rewind effect on the test server with the live version: it took around 10 seconds on the test server according to my stopwatch, and 11 seconds on live on my computer. Maybe I was just slow that late, but several people commented how it felt faster, so I think it really was. Blizzard is still exploring further options to improve it, so maybe this is not its final state yet.

And you people know this… how exactly?

I’ve long lost count of reiterating how bad they’ve been at documenting such stuff. Sometimes they announce how they’ve ‘fixed’ something… sometimes they actually do it, but with no mention in patch notes.

PS

With respect, who cares? Sorry, couldn’t help it.

I never thought about this… shehmatik is a name of some imps in the Slavic folklore. It is not very common, even Russian-speaking people basically don’t know about it, and it is also connected with chess.

I was playing chess in the childhood. My grandmother was a Belorussian witch (or at least some people thought that she was).

Ofc the format of the brawl will be low-powered. It could be finally a chance for x11 us to see Paladin being playable and maybe even understand the pain of low mmr players. Although I expect that it will be nothing more than playable in the format where players no lower than of mid legend usually play more than one free run. But Paladin is banned, we will not know.

Gotta say, you’ve got a point here. I haven’t heard about it, even though I am familiar, at least to some extent, with the folklore (wouldn’t call myself an expert or anything, but still) and can speak the language.

Jokes aside (although you did write some nonsense, mostly re MMR etc, after that, while I was typing my previous post, as if to confirm the point about the brain. We’ll get to it later), I suspected it were a reference to some form of ‘schematic’, which is Greek in origin (probably with a ‘ki’, or ‘chi’, i.e. ‘Χ, χ’, there, something like that).

Wait, what? Are you certain you’ve not fallen victim to some hoax or amateurish pseudo-historical or pseudo-lingustic theory?

I mean, I’d understand if you made a reference to a Persian phrase “Shāh Māt!” or something like it, see, for example:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_chess#Origin
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checkmate

But usually, when people draw such parallels based on how similar things sound purely by coincidence, it’s a sign of such amateurish theories.

I mean, ‘Fel magic’ sounds like outright ‘wrong (magic)’ in Swedish, for example, but I strongly doubt that’s where the name comes from.

Anyway, back to the brawl in question…

As said, it has already dominated such events (check out HSTD if you’re interested, like reports about the previous theorycrafting events or brawl), and seems like an obvious candidate that would have dominated this one.

PS Okay, even did some digging, for example:

https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/tavern-brawl-the-lost-city-of-ungoro-pre-release-brawl/ (I suppose one could call Paladin quest the new Ursol, or Murloc Pala the new Imbue Pala?),

https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/what-to-expect-from-the-lost-city-of-ungoro-theorycrafting-event-impressions .

It’s got nothing to do with any ‘MMR’ nonsense, let alone Standard Ranked play.

It’s just a strong deck in a format without cards from the previous year, and that’s it.

I dunno why you keep going on with this rubbish.

Again and again: it’s not a strong deck in Standard, with many counters and whatnot, but it has been and probably would be* dominant in this kind of format.

* Haven’t play-tested this one, though, but I consider it a reasonable guesstimate; in fact, when they announced the brawl or something long ago, one of my first thoughts was like, what are they gonna do about Quest Paladin this time? It’s such an obvious pick even without any new cards… unless they ban it, which they probably will do.

No, it hasn’t got anything to do with rank, ‘skill’ (I keep maintaining it’s not a significant factor in HS), performance, some alleged ‘MMR’ or whatnot. Not even the Pavelling book would help with that, I think.

Now, that’s actually a curious point: it would be interesting to see how this one fares without the old cards on which the ladder deck relies heavily.

If memory serves, it wasn’t that impressive last time, but the quest was buffed, wasn’t it?

Anyway, that was my next candidate after Murloc Paladin. Maybe we’ll see, maybe they’ll ban it, too.

No, there is a very real story at the intersection of folklore and linguistic. Chess is pronounced like “shakhmaty” (or “shakhmati”, I am not sure how to write it correctly with the Latin alphabet) on some Slavic languages.

In the old days (before the 20th century) chessboards were seen by ordinary people (not nobles) as smth colorful, motley.

And supernatural beings like demons, imps etc were sometimes conceptualized as having a variegated coloring too.

This was the basic of some ways to name demons. (Maybe a comparison with a Scottish brownie is possible.)

You probably know that in the old days people tried to avoid naming demons directly, bc it was common for all cultures and nations.

Well, maybe you are correct here, but I still think that we could have a chance to test it before judging and we don’t have this chance because of feelings of players who won’t even play this brawl more than once.

rewind is based on a mechanic from an adventure, and instead of making remaking it, they are just reusing it

take a look at toki in the witchwood adventure

Some feedback on two parts:

Achievements
I’m happy to see you adding new achievements, but limited time achievements should really be Feats of Strength or some other name. World of Warcraft has this figured out and Hearthstone needs to copy from it.

Vendor’s Bargain Blowout!
I love this! A wonderful idea!!

Mirage bug is 2 years old, not 2 months. They are incompetent beyond words.

But I just lost to the paladin quest “dive to the golakka depths” in the pre-release brawl that was supposed to be banned. Am I missing something?!

It is not banned apparently, I just played against someone who played it

Unsurprisingly, I lost all 3 games to murlocs in a big way and can’t even open the chest. Massive letdown!
