Ran a Hidden Lair, it gave zero gems.
Which loot? Gems? Are you capped?
There’s a limit to the number of gems you can obtain from events in Hidden Lairs each week. That limit is reached by clearing 21 Hidden Lairs. Each lair consists of 2 floors, with 3 gem events on each floor (2 mini-events and 1 boss), which means you can earn 21 * 2 * 3 = 126 gems per week. Once you have reached this limit, when you next get the screen to zone into a Hidden Lair, instead of the two squares showing gems being coloured, they’ll be greyed out, and this indicates you’ve reached the cap for the week.

stupid question, but does this apply to elder rifts?
Elder Rifts have caps on Fading Embers…
If you mean gems, it’s possible to receive non-legendary gems in Elder Rifts because there’s a daily cap of 12 non-legendary gems for running any content when you’re in a 4-player party.
