Error message: "Please check your internet connection and click OK"

Good evening!

I was able to log on this morning and this afternoon without any issues. However, I go to log on for raids this evening, and I’m met with this error, occurring at >99% of “checking for updates”. I first noticed this problem at around 7:30pm Eastern, and have been troubleshooting since.

I have…

  • Rebooted
  • Moved the game directory from one hard drive to another
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the game

…to no avail. My internet connection is just fine, as I can log into other Blizzard games and play without any connection issues. I can even do that while streaming video from Netflix. But Diablo Immortal? For whatever reason, fails to load.

Not sure what else there is left to do on my end.

Update: A scan and repair was also attempted. No dice. Additionally, I uninstalled battle.net, deleted battle.net, battle.net_components, and Blizzard Entertainment folders from C:\ProgramData, and reinstalled the client, thinking that maybe the client caused a problem. This also fails.

The game works fine on Android, but phone controls are not my strong suit. I need my keyboard and mouse.

Same issue for me this morning, was able to play last night just fine. Tried repairing client as well with no luck. Thanks Blizz!

UPDATE: ran a Scan & Repair and now was able to connect. Not sure if that actually fixed anything or just a coincidence, but worth a shot!

Same issue on PC, can access via iPhone but not Windows.

I just tried the Scan & Repair with no luck.

Same issue aswell, tried all of the above.

I am also having this problem. I have rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled the game, repaired it, scanned it, and tried connecting to a different internet connection, only to meet with the same error. My mobile is working just fine.

Same issue this morning, I got offline about 8pm CST and this morning nothing i do to troubleshoot will work, at least it’s not just me I guess.

My game finally loaded. I’m not sure what I did that fixed it or if something was adjusted in the launcher from their side.

Same problem here. Hello BLizzard, need help here!

Had the same issue. I changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and it started working.

That was a nice thought! Alas, this didn’t work for me either.

I have tried everything anyone posted about their fix and yet no luck.

Update: Changed location a bunch of times didn’t work, went back to americas and it started working. No idea what actually fixed it. Just started working again.

I had to disable the Internet on my PC, hotspot my phone, and then connect my PC via WiFi thru my phones hotspot. It finally finished whatever was causing the problem and the game loads fine now. The game worked already on my android phone. This was the fix for my windows. Hope this helps. I tried repairing, updating, reinstalling, disconnecting/reconnecting Internet, and full PC reboot. None of it worked except the hotspot fix posted above. Best of luck and I hope it works for you as well.

This worked to complete the update and get logged in… but once that finished, disconnected the tether and tried normally? No dice. In order to play, I need to remain tethered.

So, for as far as this got me (which is the farthest I’ve gotten all day), I’m still back at square one.

Same issue here. Scans, repairs nothing. Still cannot log in to the game.

Update: switched regions and the game finished the update and loaded.

I’m having the exact same issue. I was able to login this morning, but now no longer able to login on my windows PC. Able to access via mobile phone. This is incredibly frustrating.

Update: Did what Whisper (above) did and changed regions before logging in… that worked. Was originally “Americas” and switched to “Europe”. This is the only troubleshooting step that has worked.

Now I had also uninstalled Diablo immortal and reinstalled it previously to doing this. I didn’t run a tether I used a full hotspot… Which I don’t think a tether vs hotspot makes much of a difference. Once I was back in game I reversed all my Internet back to normal and have been able to login and play as normal.

Nah, it wouldn’t really make a difference. The device (my desktop, in this case) is receiving the same internet from the phone whether it’s connected via wifi or via USB or Bluetooth.

My uninstalls/reinstalls were done via ethernet cable, it just wouldn’t get past the update screen and perform the cinematic until I was tethered. Now that I’m plugged back in to ethernet, it’s back to doing the error message. Tethered, there’s no issue. This is only acceptable as a temporary fix, and a more permanent solution is necessary.

Seeing as how long it took to get other PC-exclusive bugs sorted out, I’m not optimistic this will get sorted in a timely fashion, but I’m willing to be wrong (hint, hint, BlizzEase).

Update: Found my fix. I had to start the battle.net launcher as an administrator and switch regions. Multiple times. Extremely unacceptable, but it’s working now.

Update 2: Not for long. Back to being hopelessly broken.
