Same thing happening to me. Played for 6-7 hours on Tuesday with zero issues. Log on Wednesday after work and have had multiple crashes to desktop, as well as one crash which resulted in a black screen and my computer restarting itself. Has never happened before in this or any game.
rtx 3070ti
ryzen 5900x
Crash with BSOD right now
Biggest frustation on this, is for all these years and crashes each new iteration, they have not implemented a proper save/resume mechanism. So you know you are undercity tier 4, fully loaded with plenty of time and get trash to desktop you do not lose your progress!!!
Since the patch also the game never return me in the world where I left, even with a proper game exit.

Has anyone in here tried monitoring their memory usage to see if it fills up before you crash?
All you need to do, is run the task manager. Go to the performance section, click on memory.
At the bottom, look for committed. This is your virtual memory.
If that fills up, you will crash. If you are having this issue, then visit this thread for information on a possible remedy:
-Diablo IV has run out of memory - #103 by DTMAce-1687
This won’t hurt your system, and it will also give it a small performance bump across more than just Diablo IV.
At this point in time, the recommended size to set it would be either 24576MB or 32768MB, depending on your GPU memory and system memory as it seems VoH uses more virtual memory with its launch than Diablo IV did before.
If not sure, just use the 32768MB for both boxes. Always use the same value for both boxes. This is so the system doesn’t try to dynamically change on the fly when it thinks it needs to. Keep in mind, these settings will allocate that much space (24 or 32GB) on your drive. If you are limited on space this may not help.
Use the fastest drive for the swap file, and do not set it up on more than one drive.

BSOD here just now. Lets keep adding to the tally until they actually say something.

This happens to me all the time now. I’m guessing this is because of the Nvidia driver (or the way Diablo 4 is using it) You need to fix this immediately. I never had an issue until I was forced to update to the latest Nvidia driver. Considering how hard the crash is (not just the game but the entire computer), that’s not good for anyone’s PC. You want to buy us all a new rig?! I’m really considering not playing the game and asking for a refund unless this gets fixed. It’s pretty consistent that I play this and it crashes. I play other games and they run like a champ so this definitely seems like a Diablo 4 issue.

You and I have the same gpu and cpu, and ever since the voh release, I am getting a Fenris error after crashing. Haven’t read all through this thread but did you find a fix?

The game complained the first time that my driver was outdated, but I ignored it.
I’m currently running a driver from clear back in January. I had to upgrade to that driver when I bought the 4080 Super as it was required to install the card. (4080 Super release driver) Haven’t upgraded since.
Still plays the game just fine, so not monkeying with it. Getting ready to head in right now and play for a while. Despite the game settings having a bright red warning that my driver is outdated when I look at the settings panel.
Also want to look into some of these other issues that some have been talking about, so will be poking around a bit.
I can’t even play the game. I crash every 10 minutes, total computer restart. This expansion is in a pathetic state.

I played for a fair bit tonight.
No crashes, disconnections, or freezing.
Would get occasional FPS drops once in a while, but that is because I have yet to compensate for Frame Gen being disabled. So I know why those are happening.
Checked out a few things, monitored memory usage etc. Swapping to and from horse/cat, teleporting into towns, etc., would give me the occasional FPS drop and in-game latency spike, but only for a second or so. I can tweak a few settings and fix most of it if I wanted to. Total system Virtual Memory usage plateau’s to around 36-38GB after going to a few different zones/towns.
My settings have crossplay fully enabled, so I see many players when going to town hubs etc. I haven’t been able to break it yet.
I’m unwilling to update the video driver to see if it would break the game, but I may need to, to see if I get some of the same symptoms.
For me the game plays pretty well and stable still as of today though which is pretty much a continuance of its performance for me at least.
It sucks that so many of you are having issues though.

Anyone give this a try and report back after a couple of hours:
I deinstalled GeForce Experience and all GeForce Drivers.
Rebooted.
Downloaded Stand - Alone Nvidia Driver 561.09 (No Experience Tool (!)).
Works for me since than. No more crashes.
Session 1: 2 hours, Session 2: 4 hours, Session 3: 3 hours.
Might just be lucky, or a tempory solution.

I rolled back to previous nvidia driver but it didn’t help, crashed again after some hours.

This seems to have helped the issue for me as well, thank you DTMAce!! It still boils down to poor coding and resource handling, so Blizzard still needs to fix their game. Have a great weekend all, much love <3
Crash to desktop now with fenris error: 1502645A-AD5B-420D-A280-E2ADE3345B16
