When using an XBox-compatible controller on PC, character movement is no longer fluid after Patch 1.1.0a.
To reproduce:
Connect XBox controller to PC (tested with both XB1 controller with dongle and 8BitDo Ultimate)
1a. Tested with male Barbarian
Set Inner Dead Zone to 0
Set Outer Dead Zone to 0
Slowly move the left stick until character begins to move walk
Continue moving the left stick the same direction and note that the character will stop moving near 50% of the stick travel
Continue moving the left stick the same direction and note that the character suddenly transitions to a “fast jog” (appears to be one notch under full speed)
Continue moving the left stick the same direction to maximum throw and the character moves at full speed
Slowly back off the left stick back toward the center and note that the character will appear to slow down with a small skip in the animation
Note that setting Outer Dead Zone to at least 3 seems to alleviate some of this issue. However, upon closer inspection, the animation stutter/skip is still apparent, especially when the character is slowing down.
I don’t think this is a technical issue pertaining to just my set up (and it’s not affecting my
ability to start/install the game). This only started happening after today’s patch. I also tested with two different controllers and changed my character speed with gear - the issue is persistent.
It’s been reported multiple times on the Console Bug forum as well:
Same issue here, both my and my wife’s machine are doing it. I was literally playing all day the 18th, then the patch dropped, I came back from eating dinner, went to run around and start playing, noticed immediately that something was messed up. This needs to be fixed asap, as I won’t play with super jank controls, and the lag that’s been cropping up too to make it even more vom inducing. Thx for reporting.
