Controller analog movement functioning incorrectly

After the patch controller movement is borked. Very sticky, clunky and doesn’t have full progressive movement.

It now only has two speeds and has stops between the two speeds if you don’t push the analog stick fully.

Hopefully unintended

Thank you! I thought I was crazy. I noticed this immediately also.

Yes thank you, I logged on and couldn’t figure out why it was so awful to move around. Wtf blizzard?! How tf do you screw that up

Yes and try it in your inventory. Tap the controller stick down and it won’t move - then move from your helm all the way to the bottom of your inventory.

Definitely, that weird stop like you stick to something is triggering my stomach. I play for 10 mins then have to take a break.

Console player shouldnt have to be compromised just so pc players can use a ps5 controller.

I hope im just a weird case in it making me game sick but i know there are a ton of people who also get game sick when movement is messed up.

I have 2 official ps 5 controllers and its effecting both, so its definitely the game.

Yes, there seems to be an issue after the latest patch. When moving the stick slowly from the center to the edge, which should smoothly transition from walking to running, the character now walks, abruptly stops (somewhere between halfway and two-thirds of the way), and then begins to run.

I play on pc with controller and the same thing is happening to me so, you know, don’t try to blame pc?

Agreed. This is a controller issue, not a console issue.

This is unplayable and if they don’t fix this before season 1 launch, people will flip out

I just logged in and this movement bug is insane.

As someone else said, it’s like getting stuck. The only way I’ve been able to break out of it is to use Dash.

This is broken, Will have to sit out season one if not fixed.

For anyone interested in a passable but imperfect fix, another user clued me in.

The stutter between walk and run seems to be based entirely on deadzones.

The stutter occurs when the inner dead zone doesn’t align well with the outer one. You essentially want them to meet and overlap. Try settings for both between 3-5 and see if you can find something workable.

Something does seem to have changed here and it doesn’t feel perfect but at least it isn’t a nightmare.

I can confirm that setting both dead zones to 3 (must be both) helped.
It removed the stopping in my walk → stop → run problem when moving the stick slowly from the center to the edge.

I can also confirm, this is happening on PC with XBOX controller and on the XBOX Series console. I will try changing the deadzones as suggested, later today, when i’m home from work.

I am using 0 inner deadzone and 3 for outer one. (works alright on PS5)Yet it is still not as smooth as it was pre patch. Hope it will be fixed soon because it feels uncomfortable to play like this

It was perfect before patch?! Im on PC with xbox controller having the exact problem this is game breaking for me please revert blizzard!

Was this addressed in the hotfix that went live a little while ago?

No.

I just checked and it’s the same. Disappointing.

Yeah, Disappointment 4 continues -_-

Edit: Disappointment IV

Same here. Walk speed is not tied to how much you push the stick anymore. Dead zone at the start and mid push. Very weird, feels awful.
