Every game has rules that need to be followed in order to have the expirience that the developers envisioned. Changing the rules or adding options to change the rules will also change the expirience.

It’s affects everyone because it would take a lot of time ,resources and work to implement. With those things being a precious commodity a lot of us would rather they be focused on things more important to us like all the bugs that aren’t fixed etc.

Time spent on Ploot is a waste of time. No offense to those who want it. Public runs will still not be an optimal or good way of farming gear when bob the barbarian who gets the killing blow on the boss only has 0 to50% mf. If your not stacking high enough mf your not gonna get good drops as well as most the time you won’t get any drops at all because 4 items ÷ by 8 means you’ll miss out quite often.

A couple of toggles here and there are alright, but not everything needs to be a togglable option.

Certain options that are optional toggles are ok, but when everything becomes an option then everyone is not on the same playing field. One may have more advantage than the other. Everyone in D2: R should be on the same playing field. Either keep something the same as in D2, or change it. No need for too many optional toggles. As far as mods there is a reason why they are only used in Open Battle.net. Closed Battle.net, especially Ladder characters, are made to be on the same playing field as everyone else. Mods may make the game more easier, and more diverse, but that is why they are restricted to Open Battle.net.

I agree that D2: R needs to stay the same shared loot as original D2. Keep that preserved. But, if for some reason that the devs did change it to personal loot only, or having an option of checking personal loot or shared loot then hopefully they keep the “total” drops the same. As I said in another thread:

Personally, I believe they should keep the shared loot from original D2 in D2: R. If they were to do personal loot, though, it should follow the same “total” amount of drops that would have dropped if it was a regular shared loot game.

Example:
8 player game with the regular shared loot from D2.
Party goes through, and kills all end Act bosses(Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto, Diablo, Baal).
Let’s say there is a total of 10 uniques that drop between all of these bosses in this 8 person shared loot game.

Now, let’s say that the same game was instead on personal loot instead of shared loot.
8 player game with personal loot.
Party goes through, and kills all end Act bosses(Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto, Diablo, Baal).
Even though each person has their own personal loot the same amount of 10 uniques would drop, but depends on who gets it. This way would help against leechers, and pickit botters. Items would still be allowed to trade to other players.

Conclusion is that I prefer original D2 shared loot. But, if they do go to personal loot, or even as some suggested to have it as an option between shared loot, or personal loot as long as the same amount of “total” drops would be calculated then it would be fine to have it that way.

In my suggestion above the personal loot wouldn’t amount into everyone getting 10 uniques each for a total of 80 uniques, but that the total uniques that drop for all 8 players would still be 10 uniques.

Total drops would be the same, but items are randomly distributed out. Each player would have a 1/8 chance of getting items. Out of the 10 uniques I might get lucky on this run, and get 3 of them. Say we do another run, and 10 uniques drop. This time say I get 2 of them. One player gets 5. One player gets 2. One player gets 1. 4 players don’t get any. Just random chance based on number of players in game, and if the players are all near the bosses/monsters. The only thing bad about personal loot in party games is looking for certain items. Say I’m looking for a 4 socket Crystal Sword. You would have to ask/tell the other players to look out for a certain item that you’re looking for if you stay in group killing the same bosses/monsters. If you go off killing bosses/monsters on your own you would be the only one getting the loot anyways. Also, solo runs you would be able to farm for that 4 socket Crystal Sword better. There could be an upside to personal loot in that when you join pub games, and you state what items you’re looking for you can create more socialization in game, and possibly more friendships if you’re able to share the loot!

Some people have a misconception on Personal Loot if it was added to D2: R! As I said in another thread:

If implemented right, Personal Loot in D2: R wouldn’t follow the same Personal Loot as D3. In D2: R, you could still trade items to anyone even if you have Personal Loot on. Personal Loot in D2: R would still follow the same rules as FFA Loot, “total drops” would still be the same. Only difference is random chance on who gets the items. I’m more of a purist as far as FFA Loot. I prefer the original FFA Loot from og D2. But, if they do implement Personal Loot only, or as an option in D2: R it needs to follow these rules:

• 1. Still allow trading like in og D2.
• 2. “Total drops” would still be the same as FFA Loot.
• 3. Leechers/low levels(especially level 1’s) couldn’t get loot unless they were in the killing radius of the monster, and get a hit in(which they probably couldn’t because their attack rating would be too low especially in Hell difficulty).

Again, I’m more of a purist, but if they implement Personal Loot with at least these 3 rules then I could be for it.

Im gonna suffer from having less items on public games because all the slow clickers choose to play ploot so im competing against faster clickers on average?

While it’s a moot point at launch, THIS right here is the biggest unspoken complaint right here from anti-plooters. While some legitimately do want the competition, I feel a big segment against it are against it not because they want actual competition, but they want EASY competition vs slow clickers. They don’t want to compete vs the auto-looter bots and other fast clickers. Plus, as much as it has been hammered here on the forums, people still believe that if ploot exists as an option at game creation, the devs would be looney enough to have it be instanced loot (everyone gets full drop pool) instead of simple loot allocation of the drop pool.

Are you not supposed to be MFing for items, including jmods, in solo games, and doing it any other way is the wrong way? Allocated drops works no different from FFA in that regard, you would still do the primary mfing solo.

1. Id imagine itll be the opposite, especially if bots are an factor, they not gonna share their loot with plooters, neither would i. And judging by what plooters are asking for and their motives they strike to me more of followers not hosts, dont think there would be many ploot run hosters for the kindness fo their heart, propably blash MicroRNA and Shadout, assuming they would have 16 hours a day to play and would have good enough gear, since they advocate ploot though i really doubt it.
2. Isnt that the reason they want ploot, to get rewarded participation trophy in public EXP runs while being trash at looting? … LOL
3. Youd have to argue this with your fellow ploot advocates since all of you suggest different way of executing it.

people who do tombruns on personal loot most likely would not be doing tombruns on FFA all of a sudden if ploot doesn’t exist they will just play solo.

So if you hide ploot games your options would look the same either way at 6am.
