I think immunities should only be reserved for super uniques. I think 99% res cap with stacked for regular monsters are okay. It’s still hard trying to kill monsters with 1% of your damage, it will have the same effect for you to avoid mobs that have high resist to your type of dmg but it doesn’t just stone wall you if you want to waste your time to clear an area.
Guys, just No. There are ways of dealing with immune monsters.(Hybrid builds,Curses,Convection,Co-op play, and mercenaries).
D2 is a lot more than a game with a bunch of cookie cutter builds. The immunes are challenging and fun IMO, and promote different builds(for example, plague/charge strike zon). It forces me to come up with ways to get through the game. I’m the type of player who has to kill every monster I see.
You know, the part where you said it was a “weird fetish.”
Don’t even try to play the victim card bud. Everyone on here knows you are full of crap lol. Literally all you do on here is make threads whining about the game, ask for dumb changes, get shot down, then rage at people.
The preferential treatment is only but a component of what makes it bad
But there also that not being able to deal damage is a bad design
And also, pairing all of this with the synergy system that kills Hybridation and forces you to specialize
So it’s either rework the synergy system to be more general
Where skills synergize eachother not only based on their damage type but also other shared properties
So you could be a fireball build and still be able to tackle fire immunes because your ice bolt would be buffed by the fact it’s a projection like fireball
OR
JUST do away with immunities and just apply the RESISTANT system instead which is as hard if not harder but you can damage 100% of the time
The sole purpose of immunities is to filter out all of the solo players that didn’t pick a cookie cutter hammerdin/summon-necro build.
You either have to be one of the gimmick builds that been done 10 million times, pay someone for high end gear that will make you viable (that you cant get yourself, because youre not viable yet), or, like all of those wonderful streamers that “know the game so well”, you can have 30 or so dudes working full time to level you and feed you their drops.
Maybe, if you can find a bunch of equally-obsessed people willing to start with you and grind every day, you can play as a purpose-built party and walk through it all, but in my experience, its never worked out.
There are a lot of ways to fix immunes. Even making it so infinity breaks all immunes, not just lightning, would work. I just find it hard that a mechanic that was put into the game by one guy because it was the easiest thing to code, is still a good idea today. For people who are purists, just make a game mode where it stays vanilla. That way purists can still have it their way and the people who recognize that this game should have been fixed a long time ago, can have it their way.
Removing features like this is not the way. Buffing different aspects of the various classes to make them more capable of countering these features is a much better attitude.
That is not what “purists” aka D2 players want, you ignorant noob. You can make up whatever claim you want, but youre still wrong. Is the mechanic perfect? Probably not, but its the Diablo 2 mechanic, like it or not.
The only thing that needs to be fixed is gamers like you who expect games to change for their skill level and engagement level. Either play it as designed and intended, or go play something else.
Pretty much our sentiment towards you and your minority clan of changists that wont leave the forums alone.
This is the only intelligent part of your babble, and its not your idea, we have been suggesting this for years and its the best case for the Devs to go. Give the gamers more options to help combat, not remove the mechanic entirely.
Just edit your post and leave it at that suggestions, dont claim it as your own, and move on.
Do you weird people know any other items besides this Pussy rune words like inifnity, grief, Spirit …whatever ? I have the feeling that the community only wants these stupid (highlvl) casual crap items and doesn’t even TRY to get along with other stuff.
And then even complain that it is too hard?
I’ll tell you something
I play the game sometimes more, sometimes less since release …20 years ago ? and I have NEVER had :
Infinity
Treachery
Grief
Stone of Jordan (jep…thats weird…nagelring nagelring…grbml)
Runes that were higher than a “Pul”.
I never had REALLY high level items or Runewords and despite that I find the Diablo 2 system to be the best on the ARPG market and have a LOT of fun searching for items and still manage in “Hell” without all the high lvl garbage. and i never struggle because of “immunitys”… why ?
Because I have a plan before playing and plan my charackter! and already solve the possible problems! If you specialize only in one type of damage you can not expect to kill EVERYTHING in DIABLO 2 (or the remaster)! That’s just the way it is. (and its just an example)
But if you want to play mindlessly and without thinking, you don’t run to the forums and DEMAND that the developers turn the entire game upside down.
Or floods the forum every day with possible changes that have NOTHING to do with the former classic (as someone else here is doing at the moment)
There are a lot of games out there that allow you to play exactly this kind of games. Run mindlessly and hit everything away without thinking. Maybe you should play something like this?
You are all way too spoiled.
No they clearly dont, they follow streamers or only played the D2 Mods and that was the way they were shown. They cannot adapt or change, and they will kick their little feet and have tantrum after tantrum until they get their way.
Removing a massive mechanic is not QOL or constructive, its game changing and that is not OK.
“it forces you to make talent, gear, and farming decisions.” No, the opposite is true. Immunities are brickwalls that only take away meaningful choices from players until they have the holy grail of god-tier items: enigma and infinity. Without infinity you cant break immunities and without teleport you cannot simply skip past them.
Try playing clearing all of hell difficulty solo with an elemental druid without enigma or infinity and then tell me with a straight face that immunities make the game more enjoyable.
Refusing to fix a mistake simply because you suffered through the mistake for 20 years is a sunken cost fallacy.
Try completing every quest on hell difficulty with a solo elemental druid without infinity or enigma. Or on a trap zon. Or a poison necro. And then tell us how much fun it is when you cannot kill or hurt 1/3rd of the game’s monsters nor can you skip them without teleport.
I have done solo self-found playthroughs with every class more than once, I always managed to pull through and pass the immunes, usually by killing them and every once and a while I needed to skip them, which without teleport is definitely possible, especially in D2r which is a lot easier than Diablo 2 was 20 years ago.
You just need to learn how to use all your options instead of trying to one button your way through the game.
Which one?
Wind is very doable, it has 2 damage types of which 1 is Physical (never played it with enigma or infinity).
Fire was doable but harder, haven’t done it since the buffs it got, expect it to be a lot better know, but can’t say for sure. Has 2 damage types and as far as I understand Physical is actually doing reasonable damage now.
So yeah can say it with a straight face, especially as I think no immunes helped D3 to become a one button game (using buffs under the others) and set it on to its way into boredom.
Okay great, so just play a pally. Forget the other classes in the game? What kind of crack do you smoke? Get a life and stop trolling people who care about this game.
I think you mean trapsin?
Started D2r with one, solo self-found and made my way through hell fairly easy with bad gear.
Actually a very easy starter imo, Lightning, Fire, Physical, Mindblast (Stun/Convert), Good Resistance (I always prefer Fade till my gear is strong), Cloak of Shadows (raise your def, lower their, for merc, and stop all ranged attacker from attack).
You do realise they have lower resistance and corpse explosion plus left over skill points right?
