The new zone already feels dead, as did the previous new zone in the mid patch. There’s no reason to be there other than to farm, grind rep or do rares. At least Korthia had a reason for us to be there, which helped make it fun. Now new zones are just like old zones. There’s no reason to be there at all
They don’t need to add more rewards to killing rares, the rewards are fine.
The only problem is that the rares have 10 times more health than they should, which makes killing them take forever and is boring as hell.
Slash the rares’ health by 90%. Cut the elite mobs’ health in the zone by half while you’re at it.
The problem here is that Blizzard caved in to the “but the rare was dead before I got there” idiots. There’s a 1-minute grace period where it shows on the map before it even spawns. There’s also a zone-wide unique alert message.
There is NO REASON why anybody with a brain can’t make it to the rare on time to tag it. They don’t need to have 14 million health baseline.
Yeh they went both ways this time, an announcement and map marker to warn you there is a minute before it spawns, and not an addon map marker, one that works by default. And a massive health pool to ensure it is not dead before you arrive.
Remove the health, keep the warning, and make the rares spawn on a set timer that is short enough that if for whatever reason you miss it, say you were killing other rares, or doing events, at least you know it will spawn again relatively quick enough that waiting around to for it isn’t too bad.
Currently I don’t even know what some of the timers are, but I do know some are much longer than others.
People aren’t doing ZC because they are chasing treasure goblins around and partying with their homies. It’s a holiday weekend, not a grind some rep weekend.
I dunno, depends on time of day/serever. Its pretty packed on Stormrage…most of the time. I agree though that they rewards kinda suck for killing rares. And the drop rates for the pets/mounts seems extremely low.
I do some rep stuff in there, but I’m not locked in there, so I’m not upset about this. I can go play wherever I want in Dragonflight and still benefit from the progression system they provided me, I love it.
Those elite zones turn me off. It’s the whole risk vs reward design. Nothing there really stands out as “this is worth putting more effort into.” I’m in no rush to max out my gear. This is my endgame, lol.
IDK who they’re designed for TBH. Just a shred of hope from the wow devs that they can convince solo players to group for things? Make it worth our while or make it soloable IMO.
What annoys me about the rare lockout change is they didn’t even boost drops like they said. Mount and manuscript drop rates are still trash and they still only drop one drake crest fragment which makes the change an inadvertent nerf to gearing through world content. I can’t tell if they lied or just failed to implement it correctly.
That’s also a major sticking point with me. The mole rep is abysmal. I’m going down the hole everyday still to do my snaily, but the rest is just flyby content now. The buff to HP for the NPCs wasn’t necessary.
And the gearing up slog of wading through fragments to get crests PLUS flightstones to get upgrades is just mind-numbing even if you’re running M+ or raiding above LFR. Just give me ONE coin/token/object of your choosing to use to upgrade stuff. Forbidden Reach had that part right. No varied tiers dropping and just one item to use to upgrade gear. Nope, they felt by splitting everything out into tiny pieces it would solve every gear equation. And maybe it does on paper, but in actual game, it’s tedious, bag space consuming overkill, just like what they did with professions and mats.
No see you need to understand what Blizzard really mean, assume they increased the drop rate 4 times to compensate for the less chances, what was the drop rate to begin with? We estimate the mount was 0.5% or thereabouts, so increasing that 4 times is still only 2%.
Yet another great comparison. ZM was popping off for months after release. So many people tried to poopoo it yet it turned out the nay sayers were the ones who were the minority.
Now don’t get me wrong. ZM had a lot of problems. The primary one being one Blizz never fixed; the drop rate on the protoform currency I forget the name of. But aside from that, there were consistently groups up for it most hours of the day. The same can’t be said for ZC. Its not unusual for there to be zero groups up for ZC even just after daily reset.
They really gave no incentive to be in the zone aside from a weekly quest and the raid entrance. I haven’t even come close to maxing Niffen renown, because there’s so little interest in being there.
And it’s actually a shame they designed a pretty unique zone with pretty neat areas, and gave people next to NO reason to be there.
