Zaralek Caverns Completely Abandoned

  • Zaralek Cavern
    • [With weekly restarts] The loot lockout now resets when the content in a given area of the map becomes available. Now, when world quests are visible in an area, the rare elite enemies in that area will also be available. Rare elite rewards have been increased to offset their reduced frequency.
      • Developers’ notes: Unlike Forbidden Reach, the rare elites in Zaralek Cavern are meant to be a bonus, rather than the primary activity.

This was a terrible change, also the reward structure for the zone was really bad due to RNG + Respawns, look at Time Rifts event, there’s rewards via RNG but also via Bad luck protection. (Bad Luck Protection) which I hope there’s more kind of rewards with that approach.

It was even difficult to track this kind of “reset” for some players, it sound complicated and I joined several groups on which players keep asking about I did this X amount of times since reset but it doesn’t provide loot and some players clarify in chat, including me.

Didn’t help they threw in that Goblin event that took most players from the underground zone to the top for that going on every 30 mins …that went on for two weeks…

I remember during wod, legion, bfa and hell even SL being able to kill rares with relatibe quickness on alts well into the patch because others were around still wanting to do the content.

Like the zone is more dead than the maw/korthia was around late 9.1 to around mid 9.2 (still some activity because of account-wide cov mogs/mounts change because of 9.1.5).

And as I said elsewhere, as dead as nazjatar was during shadowlands. Nazjatar/rustbolt were still popping off in late 8.2 all the way to the end of bfa.

There’s a relation with how rewards work, since some of the shadowlands provided resources like anima for other items or another currency.

Dragon Isles supplies could work like that if Devs added more cosmetics in a vendor, instead we got some RNG cosmetics with low drop and that’s not good, It’ll motivate hardcore collectors but no some casuals compared to Time Rift approach. Now Time Rift has a problem, it should drop or provide a way to earn the gear tokens, so people will do this content longer due to alts, similar to Forbiden Reach.

Right they were not throwing out new stuff on top of new stuff…we were only like 4 or 6 weeks into Caverns area then the Goblin event came out that lasted for two weeks…most players went top side for that event cause it was every 30 mins you really had no time to break off and go do other things if you wanted to be on the next kill for Goblin…almost same with this rift event now…its 45 mins between events…you have a bit of time to do do short quests and pet battles but not stalk big time rares…

I mean, almost all of the open-world content in this expansion has been hot garbage. The story and questing are fine, but the repeatable open-world stuff is just…bad. Nothing since 10.0 has had any kind of staying power: Forbidden Reach, Zskera Vaults, Zaralek, Loam Niffen (quite possibly the most useless reputation ever added in WoW), Suffusion Camps, and now time rifts. All bad.

There hasn’t been an expansion with such mediocre PvE content outside of raiding and M+ for quite some time.

As others have said it was dead when they nerfed the incentive to do rares. People were literally joking about with said change, they lost all incentive to do hangout there besides the big obvious chase cosmetics.

And well the community ended making a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I thought the purpose of it was the renown to grind for the dragon helmet

Yeah I had forgot about that change…but still the goblin event didn’t help…I got lucky during that first week of goblin event I went down to the craven and there was a group on that rare that drops the mount …the one they had change and mount dropped for me…I have all but one of the pets from there …the one you need that shell drop off the cave mob is only one I am missing…

I still go down there to find me some Lord Stanley’s pets…they still selling quite well for me…

i think what could add a little spice to the caverns would be to like, make the middle part of it a “contested” area where open pvp is a free for all between dragon flights…

so like, let’s just say that there’s a little quarrel that gets started between the flights cus the void is twisting everyone’s thoughts COUGHTHATCATHUNEGUYCOUGH

and so, you have to declare your support for 1 of the flights, and that automatically flags you to participate BUT the open world PVP can only happen in the middle of the cavern in the center…AND let’s say in the center there’s this position that needs to be held maybe like 3 of them and if they are held by the same flight, you win AMAZING loots…maybe mounts/pets/cosmetics…

so a team effort…little pvp for the luls…just something different…

and maybe there’s something for players who don’t necessarily enjoy pvp can still contribute to the flight, like maybe building equipment to defend these points for the team…having to gather the mats to build it and add reinforcements around the points etc.

Don’t forget the other fails : The forbidden reach, obsidian citadel key grinding, primal storms, cobalt assembly, the storm’s fury , Fyrakk assaults and the latest gem called Time rifts. For a good expansion ( according to many crackhead streamers) there are so many fails.

I think I did the intro quests into Zaralek and flew around and got the new glyphs and left and never went back.

I have 0 interest in the “niffen.”
Ugly little things with more pointless renown grinds.

Edit: Queue the horror flashbacks of “worgen sniffing” making my ears bleed. And blizzard thought a whole race themed around sniffing was a good idea? lmaooo

thread claims no one is doing content
thread also claims tons want to but can’t because no one is doing it

see all the people that replied to this thread?

Why don’t you all exchange battle.net, become friends or join an in game community and I don’t know… GO DO IT together?

This is why you get no sympathy from the majority of the player base because this is what we all do, (use the group tool/community tool/guildies/friends) yes even in the current most popular content.

The caverns are abandoned because…

  • Rewards are bad.
  • A pain to travel in it (Warning! You’re gonna get dismounted!)
  • A pain to gain rep.
  • Gear awarded in it isn’t good enough to even do the content in the zone.
  • Overtuned. Mobs/elites/bosses/rares have way too much health and damage. Reduce it by 50-75% across the board.
  • Nerfing rewards from Rares, effectively killing this activity.
  • Other zones and activities are more rewarding for fragments and flightstones for far less effort and time investment.

I said this on day one as many of these applied to Forbidden Reach when it was no longer current. I was criticized despite being right.

Now here we are. Dead zones for the reasons mentioned.

Vindication should feel good, but I feel for those that want to do these zones.

It would be cool if they just bit the bullet and made this whole thing a solo zone for us.

I cant do some of the quests, i am unable to kill the rares. I dont understand why world content is unsoloable ? these things require groups and there is no one doing this content, even if it was brand new content someone coming in a month later would be having this problem. Why did they make this whole expansion so dependant on group play is this the final push to remove solo players ?

They’re creatively bankrupt. How many times are they gonna create rare islands… We get it. it was very popular at one point. You’ve milked that cow

2013 called and they want their timeless isle back!

I’ve got next to no Niffen rep.

I absolutely hate rare farming so I rarely ever do it. As a healer it can take me 15 mins to kill one and I don’t have time for that lol.

I realise places like that are becoming less and less for me, even before any change happened.

They need to give us a reason to kill those rares. A good reason.
Either making them easier to kill, or giving us better rewards. Even a substancial amount of Loamm Niffers reputation would do.

Also, getting to the caverns was nice the first time, but after a thousand times manually flying there is not fun. A teleport from and to Valdrakken would do wonders.
