Zaralek Caverns Completely Abandoned

There are 2 reasons to go to ZC, spores and the half a spark.
Not sure, but I think the half a spark can be picked up else were.
Though I’ve been forced to collect the niffen weekly rep bag to get mine last 3 weeks.

The point is that they want to do it solo.
Grouping for this kind of content is a huge waste of time.
They’d rather be grouping for raids/M+.

Not everyone wants to do a dedicated mount/toy farming group…
Everyone plays on a different schedule.

Heck, I don’t even do the Elites and the Deepflayer quests since they take way too long to die, and I’m almost ilvl 430…

Doing the Desmotaeron Maw WQ for 500 anima feel way more rewarding.

I just take the FP there now on my alts (mage can set the Hearth to wherever is most convenient, and that’s ZC atm) as it’s way too much of a hassle to manually go there.

I honestly believe ZC failure has more to do with office politics than anything else.

No way resources and time were spent making this zone to do what was done after it’s release unless someone at the office wanted to lord over the person/people that made it.

There simply is no other reasonable explanation.

Once spores are not worth faming anymore ZC will die completely.

You do know there is a taxi too the cravens too right…

I go there to do a snail daily, some treasure sniffing, and a weekly Research event. Zone was DOA. Forbidden Reach is so much better.

I suspect that would be a hard bullet to bite. The zone was clearly designed with a grouping in mind, with activities forming a solo-to-raid-group ladder in terms of what size of group it works best with.

Recycling it for solo play would be a statement about the game design in general that feels like it would encounter a lot of resistance.

I go down there daily to find me another Lost Stanley…they sell quite nicely on my realm.

How the blazes can you see him? I’ve looked a few times and dark critter on dark background in a dark cave … my eyes just completely fail me. (admittedly, since I’ve never found him, I’m not 100% sure I’m looking in the right places for the right shape)

And before I forget:

The new zone should have been a flying continent.
It could even ride on the coattails of Zelda TOTK.
Here’s hoping they at least use that idea for 10.2.

I mean, WTH were they thinking?
An expansion based on gamefying flying actually went for an underground area in a major patch? WHAT!?

To make matters worse, Forbidden Reach, the supposedly throwaway zone, feels better designed since it was open, had a better reward structure (the ring + customizations) and rares were actually the focus, even if overtuned (they still are).

You have to make sure you got the Clacking Claw on you to change too first…then you creep up close to spot were he spawns at and wait to see the moving Top Hat …if the Top Hat is there.,…then he there …apply the Clacking Claw before you go near the hat if you don’t he’ll run away…

Coords to 5 places he can be at down there…get addon called tomtom…you can copy and paste each of these coords too your chat window and get an arrow to show you which way to go and green dot on spot they are at…

Klakatak is the mob that drops the claw but on most realms you can buy the claw off the AH for about 150 gold or so…
the mob is a rare so you’ll need help to bring him down …as of late anymore now I just buy claws off the AH …I have looted about 20 Lords already now and sold them.

In my case, it’s actually impossible to solo as a mage.
I can’t self heal the damage.

But you are clearly a troll/antagonizing for the sake of it, welcome to the ignore list.

Another set of bad takes from you.

Not a surprise.

Alas, I’ve got a strict taboo against add-ons

(but thank you for taking the time to offer advice - I have a little stockpile of claws left over from the first week of 10.1 when the zone was popping that I’ve been saving for this)

The real reason is that they made a change during a patches first few week of being live saying “This is not how this is supposed to go! So we’re going to change it now despite us having loads of time to change it on PTR and let you deal with something that was off to a good start and smush it into the dirt til its unrecognizable and no longer fun.”

This is the complaint we’re collectively making is that this specific zone started out great, in a sense that it was something we were used to doing after YEARS of doing similar types of content. It was tolerable content. It was something, again, that we were used to. Then not even two weeks later they take it all back and effectively kill it and light it on fire in the dumpster behind HQ.

Barely anyone wants to join a group in LFG that says “ALL RARES UP - ZARALEK CAVERNS!” and actually commit to staying in that group. If all rares are truly up they join only for Karokta then bounce, effctivly leaving the person who started the group, alone and unable to complete the rare grind for much wanted scripts, pets, toys, and mog.

“ALL RARES! ZC” does not have the equal appeal as “ALL RARES - REACH!” does for one reason alone and thats how the rares are completely ruined in ZC compared to Forbidden Reach due in part to them being on a bi-weekly reset instead of “Kill these rares anytime there up as MUCH as you want!”

Well those coords you can still find on the map if you look top of it the new map shows coords were your cursor is and you are…

Are you sure that’s not an add-on adding that? I don’t see that behavior.

I’ve been asking for it for years. It would be more than a little embarrassing if it was already there.

Don’t think it is…I think Blizzard added too the map themselves some time back…I am not in game right now so I can’t see…

Zaralek Caverns died two weeks after its inception. This has been an ongoing issue even before Time Rifts and the Mega Dungeon were added. I’m merely bringing it back into the light that they killed a major piece of content, aka a new zone, before a lot of people even had time to try it out.

I usually grind my 1500 Niffen Rep and get out of there. But I will do a dragon race for the 500 gold and get any other gold hanging around.

Well one big issue with that place is doing the rep weekly quest for 1500 rep …if you kill the world boss down there you get no Rep at all…nothing…that is BS…its bad enough they don’t drop gear hardly now but at least give us some dang rep for killing the boss…
