"""Ysera isn't Nelf content"""

yeah, that’s his MO he only reads Alliance lore and takes that as absolute fact. He only quotes Alliance quests, it’s super annoying.

And he would be wrong. Even Alleria gave a valid reason why letting the Horde take capital city would be disaterous. Luckly not all the elves agreed with him and I am glad Terenas had nearly had enough of him.

This is not an Alliance quest. This is from a book, both ingame and the Warcraft 3 manual itself.

So Maldraxxus and Revendreth are Horde content then, right? Okay good.

At least they’re the better two zones .

I don’t think anyone would have a problem with that

Maybe now that there’s flying. Navigating Revendreth via those stupid elevators nearly made my eyes bleed.

I just checked Chronicles. And no it does not say it was due to the Alliance maching back to Lordearon. The passage only said:
While the Alliance was besieging Blackrock Spire, King Anasterian led efforts to drive the Amani trolls from Quel’thalas. The battles were costly, but the elves managed to secure their homeland. In the years to come, Anasterian would withdraw from the Alliance, accusing it of abandoning the high elves in their most desperate hour. Not all high elves believed that, but enough did"

So no you’re wrong/that is your head canon, it does not mention what exactly the Alliance did(and the Warcraft 3 manual did). its just seems to me to be the bitter ranting of an elf against the one organization that was helping it during one of the few times it was actually in danger.

Honestly elf lore from Chronicle onward has been kind of pants on head anyway. It would have been so easy to make it due to younger elves who weren’t alive during the Troll Wars as the ones pushing to withdraw from the Alliance and Anasterian yielding to that pressure when he figured there was no more threat from the Horde. But I guess that would have made too much sense…

Nah, I like this lore of Anasterian being an arrogant prick who turned away the Alliance, the one group that helped them during their “darkest hour” and ultimately it backfired on them when Arthas came knocking and the elves ended up with no one to help them.

Funny, how that ended up being the fate of the three nations that left the Alliance.

Okay but that’s dumb and simplistic, and makes the elves look silly. Adding more political nuance fleshes out the world and makes things more complex in terms of worldbuilding. Anasterian being an ancient king who was freakishly long-lived and thus was one of the few among his people to remember how humanity helped them in the Troll Wars adds a tragic aspect to his character as a king out of time who lived too long.

Wait… do people really think Maldraxxus and Revendreth are better zones than Bastion and Ardenweld?

From Wowpedia:

Ultimately, Anasterian remains a divisive figure. Some argue that he was simply a pragmatist who did all he could for his kingdom and people, forging and ending alliances as a means to that end. Others consider him a self-centered leader and an ungrateful ally whose kingdom benefited from the very sacrifices he himself scorned.

That particular line(as far as I can tell) is not in any of the books but that is the best assessment of him(I clearly fall into the latter camp). I think it makes Anesterian a decent character and honestly the whole “too young to not be alive during the trolls wars” wouldn’t have made that much sense The Alliance was there to show any elf, young or old, what it was made of/capable of. I doubt it would be a generational divide thing.

Oh I’m quite aware that Zerde can be disingenuous. He does however have me here:

My mistake. I conflated the passage with something similar in Blood of the Highborne, which also goes into how Anasterian dealt with the Amani after the Alliance left, but mentions the battle for Lordaeron instead of skipping straight to Blackrock.

Putting it all on him as the reason is dumb. But I get it, there’s a lot of Horde versus Alliance roleplay going on in here, as usual to the detriment of objective understanding and discussion of the story.

It was not totally him(Chronicles did make sure to mention “Not all high elves believed that, but enough did”). So it just happened to be enough elves believed him narrative that he managed to get his kingdom to leave the Alliance.

Not wanting to kick in resources to pay for the camps probably had something to do with it as well.

Yea. By far the better two zones

The parade was IN Lordaeron.

He was returning from Northrend.

On a separate note what is he arguing here? As far as they knew he went to Northrend, killed Mal’Ganis and returned home the conquering hero regardless of his underhanded means of doing so. Even Terenas ignored his disregard of orders.

You seem to be implying that because the Titans got to her first, she cannot be linked to Elune, or that it’s in doubt or question. It’s not. She’s turned into stars by Elune, announced as Elune’s pet by Elune’s sister, has the Nightsong play, states that if Elune wishes it she will return to Azeroth despite WQ saying it’s impossible.

Ysera only blessed one race with a link to the Emerald Dream.

There was a reason that I mentioned Anduin specifically. She was quoting me, and I was referencing Saurfang not killing Anduin when I stated that quote.

Also, unrelated but I saw several posts claiming that because Arthas/Lordaeron and/or the high elves left the Alliance, it quit being the Alliance. This argument is acknowledged as flawed and incorrect by Anduin, but I want to point out that if you take this as fact that means the Alliance quit being the Alliance while still calling itself the Alliance mid Warcraft 3.

What we don’t have is the history and the origin of that link. None of the other Aspects seem to have a link to anything other than the Titans that made them. She is interestingly the only Aspect that didn’t spend time on Azeroth proper.
