I’m personally not sure how much declining will happen because of covenants. But I am 100% sure if you have a wipe the first thing pugs will look at is your covenant and if you don’t have the meta you will be first kicked.

I mean, im in a guild that probably wont care what covenant I am in (that is if people are still interested since everyone is burned out atm)

Its always the same thing for people.
Not geared the right way stats etc /kick
Not X class or spec /kick
Dont have legendary/Azerite gear or essences /kicks
Dont have the right talents /kick
Havent done the fights /kick
ETC

So I dont really have a problem since its always the same thing for pugs, it just boils down to the community

Let’s say for example your moment to shine is doing AOE damage, can you explain a single fight in Nyalotha where this would have helpful kill the boss? How many bosses were adds not just a nuisance ?

teh same amount that were pure patchwork type bosses . I use 3 separate gear sets in the raid on my hunter , patchwork set , AOE set and single target switching set. If i forget to change before boss the results are still good enough , just not the best i could do so its no big deal .

And as someone else said above , it wont affect the majority of players , only those who think that their application to join Limit will be accepted any minute now will demand certain covenants .

Either you open it up to where players can easily choose the best options, or you screw over a bunch of people. People who are going to be very upset that their covenant choices only help them on 1 fight and are only actually marginally better than the better choice on that fight.

Either you open it up and players can’t still get dumped for choosing the options they want, or you make the game easier for a select group of people who are, I kid you not, so talented at the game that they need the developers to make it easier for them.

Or, Blizzard bends the knee, but that group of players, who are chained to numbers in a vacuum, are still so determined do eek all the roman numerals out that they find something else that dares to challenge their constant number groping, which means bending the knee solved absolutely nothing.
