My guess is class/spec balance discrimination will vastly overshadow covenants.
Giving affliction the best covenant in the world isn’t going to make anyone take them over a BM Hunter in a dungeon.

or we could collectively come together and beat the meta enforcers into submission by excluding them from everything. If they want everyone to be meta then fine they can stay in their confined groups of the .01%
Good luck with that I guess but we both know how it’s really going to go.
What’s been stopping you from doing that for the past 15 years?
Ilevel and io score trump everything.
I will be declining anybody with the current FotM covenant.
Yes, I hate pop music too, why do you ask?
Life is more fun as a contrarian.
me not being a serious raider?
Planning on being one in SL? Just curious as to why you’d want to remove other’s choices to play how they like.
How exactly do you propose to do that?
yeah, I can’t believe I’m agreeing with you on something xD.
I personally would love to hear this as well. How this is going to stop human nature in a competitive environment without implementing systems that wont let you choose your own style. Like Covenant A is too full so you can’t choose it.
Inquiring minds would really like to know.
Apparently we just need to find the Meta Overlords and defeat them, then they can’t “enforce meta” anymore.
oh no, i’m going to be declined by the top 1% of players i don’t play with anyways.
hooooooly crap, what do i do
Maybe this will be the 9.2 raid
Swapping covenants every pull in the raid Isn’t fun. Currently people don’t want to drag 13 sets of gear around, but they can, so they must.
Says you.
Nobody’s forcing them.
So I talked to my brother about this who feels this is worse than I do and I think he had an interesting observation about it that I agree with:
Being bad and being stuck is a far worse feeling that being bad but having hope that the rng loot gods will save you.
The dps difference between covenants is probably not going to be any worse than past systems which were restrictive, namely gear being a lot more specialized.
The difference between the 2 though is with gear you always have hope that you’ll get what you want even if it does never happen. That feels less bad to most people than being locked into a slightly worse ability even though the outcomes are the same.
Extra note: gearing in this regard doesn’t have anything to do with personal loot vs master loot as in both contexts you could have a piece of gear never drop.
If swapping gear every pull to eke out 900 more dps is fun, you should enjoy this new game called “Damage Meter Simulator”. It sounds more suited to you.
This is why Blizz put a timer in Torg. Try hards like you would feel compelled to wait 10 minutes every pull for lust. If you can, you must.
No I won’t, that’s the best benefit of being in a good guild with people who are more concerned with having fun then with numbers on a meter or on some website.
What’s new? This game has always been meet these demands or get out…
